My family and I ate there on Friday and the food was awesome, the service was awesome so we came back for another meal on Sunday. I ordered the chicken on Friday, and again on Sunday and the only difference was that the meal on Friday was fantastic with nice potatoes, onions and the chicken was moist. The meal on Sunday was missing onions, hardly had any potatoes, and the chicken was dry and super salty. It was like a completely different meal. I don't know if a different person was cooking on Sunday but it was a disappointment.

The best part was the view. Best to sit at the counter on the patio. This is the only outside seating and not enough of it. Very short menu especially for a veggie. Wines list short but priced well. Lot of crowed tables. They shove them so close its hard to pull out the chair. The inside bar was jammed but looked fun. It looks over the main drag

I reserved a table for a Saturday lunch on Open Table and was given a reminder call the day before by a friendly, polite young lady. We were seated by the window but were given the choice of going outside as well. Breathtaking view! The bay complete with sailboats, Angel Island, Bay bridge, San Francisco, etc all from our table. Excellent service from the moment we arrived. I am not a "foodie" by any means, but I believe a foodie would be happy here. I ordered a flatbread pizza and a kale salad and both were delicious. The Barrel House's ambiance from the inside is lovely. Being in Sausalito makes the experience even more special. I would definitely return and my son, definitely a foodie, was raving about this place and plans to return.

We got three drinks and four appitizers and spent 125.00$!!!! What! We ordered a cheese plate wich had a less than a table spoon of three kinds of cheese on it mostly floweres and grapes. A meat tray the meat was so thin you couldn't taste it, the bread was semi stale and that came with a tea spoon of mustard for 8-10 slices of bread. The oysters were good and the pizza was ok but for the money we dropped we could have gotten WAY better food elsewhere. So we paid for our appitizers and then left. Very very disappointed.

Really??? We both ordered this. It arrived on a practically empty plate! No garnish, not even lettuce. It looked pathetic. Other plates around the room looked wonderful, so we were expecting something amazing for $18! It was good, no doubt, but a little color on the plate, please!

The chief asset of the Barrel House in Sausalito is its location on San Francisco Bay. The restaurant has a nice, modern style and great outdoor seating. The management and staff were accomodatingr for our seating request---near a window, facing the Bay. The service was quite good. I had the pork chops, which were nicely prepared. The drinks from the bar were also well done.

Simply fabulous, awsome decore, friendly, well dressed stuff, superb service, artistic food presentation and imaginative food pairing dishes. We had flat bread as an appetizer that was just out of this world. Salmon with white asparagus was the best. We finished our evening with salty caramel ice cream on the patio with bright moonlite at the moonlight. So romantic.

We caught the day ferry from SF for a 2 pm lunch that was stellar. The grilled peaches & burrata salad was delightful and the double-patty grass fed burger was deliciously-dressed in caramelized onions. Opted in for the truffle fries for an exquisite taste all its own Enjoyed 22 oz. Marin Brewing Company's San Quentin Breakout Stout throughout the meal. Needless to say, the view of the bay from the corner table made the visit to Sausalito complete.

Went to Barrel House to celebrate my birthday. We started with the tomato soup, which was served in a lovely pastry bowl. Soup was absolutely delicious - I could have eaten this for dinner alone. Next we ordered the lamb meatballs cooked with a tasty bean and tomato "stew". The meatballs were a little dry but still tasty. We shared the stone fruit and burrata salad - this was amazing. The peaches were grilled and slightly sweet, the cheese very creamy. Really nice pairing. For our main dish we shared the risotto - really good, perfectly cooked. Our waitress brought us a nice glass each of prosecco (not on the wine menu) - which was also very good. I definitely want to go back and highly recommend this restaurant!

We had our choice of tables, but the restaurant filled quickly. Service was warm, welcoming, and professional. The menu has good variety and wide appeal for all kinds of appetites. We selected three small plates which were generous and very well prepared. The wine selection is large, well-balanced, with many offerings by the glass. The dessert menu is a little limited, with mostly ice-cream sodas of varying flavors, and the perfunctory creme brule. We chose the salted caramel ice cream soda with chocolate bread pudding at the bottom. Very sweet, but enjoyed by my birthday-celebrating companion. We chose a window table with a spectacular view of the bay and City skyline. This restaurant doesn't disappoint!

We took our friend to the Barrel House for her birthday brunch and had the most wonderful experience I just had to share. First, we had 1pm reservations and were very running late so I called to let them know and they said no problem, they would hold our table. We get there 30 minutes late and they had our table by the window with the most beautiful view of SF ready for us. Next we ordered drinks. They have fix your own bloody marys with truffle salt rim and bacon garnishes as options. My friends were very excited about this and apparently it tasted as good as it sounded. I opted for the Sauvignon Blanc and was not disappointed. Next we ordered 3 appetizers and our entrees. Everything was amazing and our server was the best!

The view of San Fran and the bay were fabulous. The food and service not so much. Wine and beer prices were high, to be expected from an establishment with such an excellent location. My husband felt his burger with gruyere cheese and carmelized onions and fries were just average in terms of taste. But my Morroccon meatballs and cauliflower side were outstanding. Server was friendly but slow to return our check and credit card. But to me, view trumps all else! Definitely worth a visit!

The view says everything! The food was decent! But be aware if you have group of five or larger! I purposely called and changed the reservation to five. Instead of giving us three small tables, which were available before we were seated, we were given two small tables and couldn't even figure out how to put the dishes (not big enough, not even)! Also don't order the frozen margarita from cocktail menu but dessert! They were great but not "icy drink"! It will be better to enjoy the ICE after the dish especially the small cup was good for display but not holding it. I wishes the waitress had explained to us when we were confused about three flavors. Will definitely come back for the view! But probably two or four and bar only!

This is a great place for a cocktail if you sit outside overlooking the Bay and the City of San Francisco. It also has a nice bar inside. I would not return to eat however, as the food did not live upto expectations - a bit lmore like an overpriced fast food outlet than a Michelin Guide mentioned restaurant. It seemed that most locals were in the bar area with most tourists in the restaurant. The fish we ordered (Cod) was overcooked and the spicy chicken was OK but nothing special. It was very busy so perhaps we were unlucky but I can only describe what we experienced on the night. Disappointing!

I understand that Sausalito is a tourist town and you're not going to see most of these people again. However, we live across the bay and having heard good things and spending a long day walking around downtown and taking the Ferry we were expecting more. The room is lovely and clean, with views everywhere. The service was good, they were attentive and the ratio of servers to dinners was appropriate. The drinks were good, and then the food started to come out. Very blah - the salad was the saving grace. But the burger and salmon (highly recommended) left a bit to be desired. The burger was dry, bland and over dressed to mask it all. The salmon was just plain boring, I won't waist more time on it. BUT the views were amazing.

Came here with my date and had my expectations blown away by the view and also the great food. I'd highly recommend making a reservation since finding parking can be a bit tough and also due to the popularity of this place. I was able to reserve a table right by the water but would come again to dine outside as well. The Umami Ribs were amazing and the Cod was cooked to perfection. Not much of a wine person so can't really say how good or bad their selection was but the food and view are enough to make me come back again. I'd highly recommend.

The only thing that saved this experience for us was the great view and wonderful warm service. The food was just not good at all. My husband and I each had appetizers and an entree and we couldn't finish anything. The hamburger (selected as presumably "safe" choice) was not remotely high-quality beef, appeared to be a thin frozen meat patty of some sort on a stale low-quality bun, and costs $22 with truffle fries that were clearly not fresh-cut and so got stale once they got cold, which was quick. The umami ribs were just ok. Nothing like you would expect being so close to culinary destinations SanFran and Napa Valley.

We've been here several times and loved it. Along with the spectacular view of the city (magical at night), the food is excellent. The main course menu is somewhat limited, but there's enough variety to suit everyone – from beef hounds to vegans and fish eaters. There looks to be an ample wine list, but preferring mixed drinks, I found the bartender an expert at mixing mean Manhattans. The deck perches for casual drop-ins put you right over the water – best before the fog blows in. A bit on the pricey side but worth it.
