A word from Barrel House
Barrel House offers a unique farm to table experience in downtown Sausalito which celebrates local seasonal ingredients and sustainability in a beautiful setting.

Barrel House focuses on letting the ingredients shine. To this end, Barrel House supports local farmers and organic practices due to their amazing quality as well as being harvested at their peak of ripeness.

Barrel House will feature barrel aged and classic cocktails. Its wine menu highlights west coast winemakers. Barrel House will have rotating local micro brews on tap as well as wines on tap. Additionally, we will be hand crafting our own sodas with ingredients that we source at the local farmers markets.

Barrel House features furniture and woodwork that was handcrafted using reclaimed black walnut and curly maple trees. Every seat in the Barrel House has sweeping views of the Bay and an outdoor deck that sits right over the water.

The view of San Fran and the bay were fabulous. The food and service not so much. Wine and beer prices were high, to be expected from an establishment with such an excellent location. My husband felt his burger with gruyere cheese and carmelized onions and fries were just average in terms of taste. But my Morroccon meatballs and cauliflower side were outstanding. Server was friendly but slow to return our check and credit card. But to me, view trumps all else! Definitely worth a visit!

The view says everything! The food was decent! But be aware if you have group of five or larger! I purposely called and changed the reservation to five. Instead of giving us three small tables, which were available before we were seated, we were given two small tables and couldn't even figure out how to put the dishes (not big enough, not even)! Also don't order the frozen margarita from cocktail menu but dessert! They were great but not "icy drink"! It will be better to enjoy the ICE after the dish especially the small cup was good for display but not holding it. I wishes the waitress had explained to us when we were confused about three flavors. Will definitely come back for the view! But probably two or four and bar only!

This is a great place for a cocktail if you sit outside overlooking the Bay and the City of San Francisco. It also has a nice bar inside. I would not return to eat however, as the food did not live upto expectations - a bit lmore like an overpriced fast food outlet than a Michelin Guide mentioned restaurant. It seemed that most locals were in the bar area with most tourists in the restaurant. The fish we ordered (Cod) was overcooked and the spicy chicken was OK but nothing special. It was very busy so perhaps we were unlucky but I can only describe what we experienced on the night. Disappointing!

I understand that Sausalito is a tourist town and you're not going to see most of these people again. However, we live across the bay and having heard good things and spending a long day walking around downtown and taking the Ferry we were expecting more. The room is lovely and clean, with views everywhere. The service was good, they were attentive and the ratio of servers to dinners was appropriate. The drinks were good, and then the food started to come out. Very blah - the salad was the saving grace. But the burger and salmon (highly recommended) left a bit to be desired. The burger was dry, bland and over dressed to mask it all. The salmon was just plain boring, I won't waist more time on it. BUT the views were amazing.

Came here with my date and had my expectations blown away by the view and also the great food. I'd highly recommend making a reservation since finding parking can be a bit tough and also due to the popularity of this place. I was able to reserve a table right by the water but would come again to dine outside as well. The Umami Ribs were amazing and the Cod was cooked to perfection. Not much of a wine person so can't really say how good or bad their selection was but the food and view are enough to make me come back again. I'd highly recommend.

Disappointed in the food. Pork chop was bland and tasteless and served with a few pieces of cauliflower, also bland. Tables on the deck were great and will return for the view and maybe a burger. Waiter also charged us for 3 entree's (only had 2). Had to wait 20 minutes for our table when we had a reservation.

The only thing that saved this experience for us was the great view and wonderful warm service. The food was just not good at all. My husband and I each had appetizers and an entree and we couldn't finish anything. The hamburger (selected as presumably "safe" choice) was not remotely high-quality beef, appeared to be a thin frozen meat patty of some sort on a stale low-quality bun, and costs $22 with truffle fries that were clearly not fresh-cut and so got stale once they got cold, which was quick. The umami ribs were just ok. Nothing like you would expect being so close to culinary destinations SanFran and Napa Valley.

We've been here several times and loved it. Along with the spectacular view of the city (magical at night), the food is excellent. The main course menu is somewhat limited, but there's enough variety to suit everyone – from beef hounds to vegans and fish eaters. There looks to be an ample wine list, but preferring mixed drinks, I found the bartender an expert at mixing mean Manhattans. The deck perches for casual drop-ins put you right over the water – best before the fog blows in. A bit on the pricey side but worth it.

new ownership and complete renovation in the last couple of years, but I had never ventured in this busy, touristy part of Sausalito. I was definitely missing something. The renovation was outstanding, architecturally impressive with great design and choice of materials. Lunch menu had many interesting choices and some basic fare, something for everyone. The kale salad was excellent and my rib appetizer was a meal in itself which featured six small ribs in a candied glaze stacked on top of one another. Delicious and just enough. Service was excellent. I'll definitely be back.

I took my niece from CO here for a great view of the bay and requested seating near the window for the best experience for her when I made my reservation, but the hostess seated us in one of just a handful of tables NOT at the windows :/. I almost asked to be moved to one of the many open tables at the windows, but didn't want to make a scene so I just dealt with it. The decor is OUTSTANDING and the views AMAZING! The food was really good too. My niece got the steak and I got a salad, both very good. All and all, I would definitely go again, but would just reiterate when checking in that I would like to be seated at a window.

As an open table member my friend and I were seated immediately and at a wonderful view table as I requested in my open table reservation. Server brought some flat bread crackers and white bean humus which was delicious. I ordered the grilled peach-burratta salad which was a bit disappointing. Half the peaches were not ripe, just a few sprigs of arugula & splat of burrata on only one peach. However, swordfish was excellent as was salted caramel ice cream. Will definitely be back but order different starter. Service was outstanding.

I am a local and have dined at barrel house for lunch, dinner, brunch and enjoyed drinks after work. My most recent experience ended poorly. I brought a friend who was visiting from the mid west. We enjoyed a nice meal and then was asked if they could move us to the bar so that they could prepare the table for other patrons. I pointed to the empty table next to ours (it was about 9:45 on a Friday night so tables were clearing) we were told that they needed a 4 top. Of course we were flanked by empty tables. They offered to buy us drinks at the bar but still ll I did not appreciate being asked to get up from our table. Why is that ok and acceptable? I will think twice next time about dining there, view or no.

Very attractive restaurant with spectacular views in Sausalito. The food was good but not great. Nice piece of salmon well cooked. The good: great venue with deck seating on a sunny day. The service was smooth and friendly. Our starter, the heirloom tomato soup poured over a crouton topped with goat cheese, was fresh and flavorful. The ribs were delectable - smoky and meaty with a sticky BBQ sauce. The slaw that accompanied them was one of the best I've ever had - julienned green apple and fennel along with the cabbage. Not so good: My Bloody Mary had bacon bits in it, which seemed kind of strange, and they got stuck in the straw, making it difficult to drink. The peach and burrata salad was a disappointment: the peaches looked gorgeous, and were perfectly grilled, but had no flavor whatsoever. The bill: $137 for a meal for two, which seemed excessive.

The food was very good, and creative. We'll go back. Server was attentive but had too many tables to cover. If the weather holds up, sit outside for the view. Arriving early we avoided the high noise level that became an issue later in the evening. And it was not even crowed. Just a heads up. We asked for a view, and sort of got one. A 360 view picture on their web site would have helped in selection of a table where the views are. We had to peak around bearing walls for the view. Smaller groups could be seated closer to a window, and we were just a party of 4. The wonderful artful bar is worth a drink

We have eaten here a number of times and the food has always been good. The view is always beautiful. The service has mostly been spotty but this last visit was horrible. If the wait staff paid half as much time checking on tables as the bus staff does, I would give five stars for service. Granted our server had a large table behind us but when we finally got our bill, after trying to get her attention for twenty minutes, a nice woman came back behind her to collect our credit card and immediately brought it back for payment. Why is she not available to check on tables to. See if they need anything?

Went for our wedding lunch with my + hubbo's families. We ended up being 40 min late for our reservation (thanks Bridge traffic), but Barrel House was very accommodating. My favorites were the meatball appetizer, and the pork and the swordfish main courses. Our waiter, Todd, was incredibly attentive and kind to our demands. I gave 3 stars for service because he had quite a few tables, meaning half our table waited 30 min for wine. It wasn't the waiter's fault; he really should've been given fewer tables (we were an 11 top). Highly recommend for groups.
