A word from Barrel House
Barrel House offers a unique farm to table experience in downtown Sausalito which celebrates local seasonal ingredients and sustainability in a beautiful setting.

Barrel House focuses on letting the ingredients shine. To this end, Barrel House supports local farmers and organic practices due to their amazing quality as well as being harvested at their peak of ripeness.

Barrel House will feature barrel aged and classic cocktails. Its wine menu highlights west coast winemakers. Barrel House will have rotating local micro brews on tap as well as wines on tap. Additionally, we will be hand crafting our own sodas with ingredients that we source at the local farmers markets.

Barrel House features furniture and woodwork that was handcrafted using reclaimed black walnut and curly maple trees. Every seat in the Barrel House has sweeping views of the Bay and an outdoor deck that sits right over the water.

  • "nice location with superb view and the service was without complaint"

  • "We have been to several restaurants in Sausalito and this is our favorite. The food was well prepared. The menu is not extensive but all local and fresh.Service was thoughtful and timely. Great vibe and views! I would recommend."

  • "Very touristy. Food was ok, steak was grisly and I'm not even sure it was a NY Strip because it was cut-up. Very inattentive service but they are probably accustomed to people who are from out of town. Don't need to go back although view was beautiful."

  • "I ate at the Barrel House 2 times in one week because the food was that good and you can't beat the view, and I live right up the street, A WINNER all the way around!"

  • "Went for our wedding lunch with my + hubbo's families. We ended up being 40 min late for our reservation (thanks Bridge traffic), but Barrel House was very accommodating. My favorites were the meatball appetizer, and the pork and the swordfish main courses. Our waiter, Todd, was incredibly attentive and kind to our demands. I gave 3 stars for service because he had quite a few tables, meaning half our table waited 30 min for wine. It wasn't the waiter's fault; he really should've been given fewer tables (we were an 11 top). Highly recommend for groups."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at this restaurant. The view is dynamite and the food up to the same standards. The server was willing to make recommendations, and her suggestions were very good. The halibut was impeccably prepared, as was the ahi tuna appetizer."

  • "We were late for our reservation, but the kind staff still sat us! Great food. I had prime rib sliders and hubby had a flatbread. yummy bloody marys and a great view. We loved it."

  • "We stopped by Sausalito on our way to Sonoma for lunch. We loved the Barrell House. Our waiter was excellent. We had the flatbread for an appetizer, the halibut and an amazing salad."

  • "This was our second visit to the Barrel House. They seem to cater mainly to tourists. They had a very difficult time understanding and accommodating our son's dairy-free request. We had two different answers on whether or not the flatbread has dairy. We then ordered the brussel sprouts with pancetta without dairy (in case they were cooked in butter), and they left off the pancetta. When we pointed this out, after great confusion, they brought the same dish of brussel sprouts back with a bit of pancetta sprinkled on top, which missed the point of the dish. My daughter asked for her pizza to have no mushrooms, so they left off the mushrooms and everything else except the cheese, so we had to send that back too. I won't rush to go back."

  • "I love this place. The ambiance is perfect during daytime or evenings! It has the most gorgeous views and the lighting is perfect at night, fun bar scene and little sitting areas. The food is fabulous, whether your a foodie or not, just delicious!"

  • "The food was overall very good. We ordered Tuna, Ribs, sliders, Truffle fries and they were all very flavorful. The bread of the sliders could be change or keep better, since it was a little dry and not that good. But again overall it was very good. I was a little disappointed with the coke refill charge, which I paid for $7.00 cokes (which the waiter forgot to mention it would not be free) that had lots of ice and little coke :("

  • "The food was overpriced, and mediocre quality. There were small flies on the window and I spent most of my time killing them with the drink menu. Told the staff about pests, and they said they would tell the management. Would only return for a cocktail and sit outside."

  • "What a nice surprise to discover such a delicious place in Sausalito. The view over the water of the city has got to be one of the best in the Bay, fantastic cocktails and super friendly service. Loved the seasonal menu - wonderful grilled peaches with burrata and excellent Moroccan spiced meatballs! Everyone recommended the ribs appetizer which was a little sweet for me personally, but the mint dressing on the cole slaw is one of those things you literally can't stop eating. Can't wait to go back for more..."

  • "We get to barrel house expecting a nice lunch. After we ordered our hand made sodas, which were good, but over prices (my ginger ale $3.50 my moms $4.50). I ordered a glass of their rose. It came to the table and had an orange color to it. Interesting I thought, so I tasted it and was very disappointed. I was hoping for a nice crisp white that was a little fruity. This was more like a buttery Chardonnay. So I sent it back and asked for a taste of their savblanc, once again a bit disappointed. It was room tempurure and just not good. We placed our order. It had taken over 15 minutes for my steak and mothers pork chop. My steak was cooked med well, I asked for med rare. My mothers pork chop was dry. Not worth spending $70 on"

  • "While the outdoor seating is limited, we were fortunate to sit out on the deck with a glorious view of the San Francisco skyline. FABULOUS!! The food was good (we tried several dishes) but did not warrant the over-inflated prices. ' Best creme brulee I've had in years..."

  • "Very well done restaurant, huge Bay views, outstanding service and fantastic food."

  • "Good view. However, one of my friends ordered a pork chop. The meat was tough. We were told the meat was pre-cooked and we could not order a replacement pork chop. Instead, my friend was told he had to order something else. This was not a very pleasant experience as we were celebrating 2 birthdays. We will not recommend this restaurant."

  • "The restaurant has potential. Great location, nice space, good tasting food. The wine list is full of not-very-good wines ridiculously overpriced. We ordered the cheese plate (under shareable plates!) which shocked the whole table. It was $17 for 3 pinky-size cheese pieces...not enough to share with the table! We had beautiful views and good entrees but we really felt the restaurant was so greedy that it took a lot away from the experience. "

  • "The staff are the best! My son wasn't feeling well and they bought hima free soda and gave him lots of TLC. Food was delicious. And the barrel-aged cocktails are a must-try. The doors open to a little outdoor bar area facing the water and San Francisc skyline. There's aldo a warm fireplace. "

  • "Finally! We waited so long for this restaurant to open, for this space to be filled….it had been empty for ages! The space is more beautiful than I could have imagined. The location and view are spectacular, and the restaurant does not disappoint. It's not cheap, but one could order sides, or starters, and do very well. We shall return. "

  • "Ouside deck outstanding view. Scallops & ahi tuna were excellent, but the prices were such a turn off. It's not a fine-dinning restaurant but the menu was short and prices too steep. Both need reworked IMHO."

  • "Surprisingly the food was terrific! Best mussels worldwide. Service was horrendous, 25 minutes to get our drinks"

  • "This is my 3rd visit to Barrel House and each time is better. we sat across from the south windows and loved the view of small ships, big ships and the city...we really enjoyed the crab cake sliders and the special mushroom and burrata salad. The wine list has grown and become even more enchanting. The David Bruce 2009 Pinot Noir was so rich and filled with blackberry and pepper...."

  • "Although open for several months, this was the first chance we had to visit Barrel House. It was a good choice if you want to eat on the healthy side. Although a limited menu, everything was yummy. The swordfish was moist and the side accompaniments were really a great compliment. My husband is less enamored with organic foods and thought the halibut could have been more seasoned for his taste. The only thing we did not think was a good value was the Oysters appetizer. There were 5 very tiny oysters for $16 (I think) and not comparable to larger Oyster Rockefeller appetizers. But we will be back - the view is fantastic even for locals! Hope this location works out for them."

  • "The only disappointing thing about The Barrel House is the food - very good but sadly not 'addictive' or 'memorable'. The decor, vibe, service, and views make this a top ten destination of any restaurant anywhere in the world - and demand special food to go along with. The Barrel House just needs to get the food up to the out-of-this-world level. For example, the crab cake sliders - fine, but nothing to write home about. The side salad - fine, but nothing to write home about. The risotto - fine, but nothing to write home about (if not watery). The side of mashed potatoes - fine, but nothing to write home about. It's actually tragic, because everything else is perfect."

  • "This is the third time I've eaten at Barrel House. First, the positives: It's a spectacular location and the interior has been redesigned to be stylish and sophisticated. The bad: They have a very limited menu (2 salads, a few apps, and 6-7 entree's). With such a limited menu and at the high end prices they charge, you'd expect them be flawlessly executed. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The next time I think of going here for anything other than drinks, I'll save the extra $125 I spent here on dinner for 4 ($275 versus $125-150 elsewhere) and go to any number of other local establishments. Barrel House needs to bring the price/value/execution equation in line with the competition."

  • "The host needs some "customer satisfaction" training. We had made a reservation for 5pm on Mothers Day. When we arrived, we asked for one of the empty window tables, and he told us they were reserved, even thought we requested wasn't there anything he could do. When we left they were STILL empty. He should have told us that we could have them, but would need to be out by a certain time. When queried about this as we were leaving, he told us they have a certain time window they need to operate in, etc... Rather than be pleasant, perhaps even comp us for something, he could not WAIT to get away from us..... The waitstaff was very good, but the host needs some training in customer satisfaction....."

  • "As other reviewers mention, the drinks are outstanding here. The menu, for the area is reasonably priced ($25 avg. entree) and the food was delicious. You could order all apps for dinner or just come in for dessert and drinks. Five star view of SF!"

  • "I had the Halibut which was cooked perfectly. The updated roast Chicken menu option was much improved. The Goat Cheese Fritters were great. Unfortunately the wet super al dente risotto was a complete miss. Understand a new chef is on the way - look forward to more good to great meals at a beautiful spot in our fair city."

  • "This was my 5th visit since the restaurant opened last year JUN. The menu changes fairly regularly with some good choices, although not a very large selection. I've yet to have a bad meal, however, I've yet to have good service. The restaurant was not full at all and it took forever to get refills on drinks and our main course selection ordered. "

  • "A good restaurant in Sausalito? Hard to find. Barrel House has got to be the best. Second floor. No lines. The food is great. Risotto, grilled fish, crab sliders, organic meats and mushrooms, microbrews. Fantastic views. Great ambiance. Great wine list. Service is good. Attention to detail is better. Why go to the crowded places that don't have to be good. Barrel House competes on quality. And it wins. "
