Though the service can sometimes be a little odd (we keep getting this robotic woman serving us when we eat upstairs in the wine room, so we try to find a table downstairs now)... and you might or might not hear about the specials, the food is usually pretty good. Especially the salmon.

...as a local, Spark is a neighborhood "go to" place... unfortunately as of late Spark is lacking just that... Spark. From the moment you walk in the door the staff lacks energy... to the point of not knowing what the specials are for the night (including even taking the time to list them on the board) to not offering to refill water glasses and coffee... For the price Studio City has better...

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 11/3/2008
My wife, my mother and I went for my birthday dinner. We had made a reservation (on opentable), and they showed us right to our table. I had read in a couple online reviews that the place was often crowded, and asked in my reservation to not be seated too close to another table. I don't know if it was because of that or because it just wasn't full-capacity busy, but our table was roomy and comfortable. I didn't see any really cramped quarters in the room I was in, but I know there's also seating upstairs. The food was incredible. I had the NY steak MR, and the sear on the outside was incredible. One of the best-cooked steaks I've ever had. My wife had a chicken dish with goat cheese and it was amazing. Friendly service, nice atmosphere.

Liked the atmosphere. My wife enjoyed the meatloaf along with the mashed potatoes and spinach. I was not too impressed with the baby back ribs. The pork was very soft and the taste was too much of bbq sauce. The martinis need improvement. Otherwise it was fun being there.

I really enjoy this place because almost anyone can eat there. As a vegetarian - I order the salads and the vegetable sides. They offer a lot of them. The grilled artichokes are the best I have had...and I have enjoyed them at a lot of places in LA. They have gourmet pizza, a fun option if you eat wheat and there are lot's of choices for non-vegetarians. Great drinks and good wine options...go - eat...have fun!

This is one of my favorite local restaurants. When friends come over the hill or from out of town, I take them here, because it is consistently good. Their proteins are always done well. I am partial to their fish and steaks. It is noisy when busy so I would not suggest for an intimate rendezvous. The service is friendly and accomodating and the wine choices are interesting.

I have eaten at this restaurant many times over the last several years. However, on this particular evening, the food and servie were not great. My salmon was undercooked and our waiter seemed to have a hard time keeping up with his tables. I left feeling unsatisfied and rather disappointed. I discovered Spark Woodfire on the internet in attempting to find a restaurant in close proximity to where a member of my dinner party resides. The tuna I chose from the menu was indeed a treat, as well as my entire meal. Though I live in Inglewood (near to the LAX airport) I would drive the distance again to eat at Spark Woodfire Grill. I liked the idea of food roasted over wood fire flame. But, chicken was dry, over cooked. Many dishes were over-garlic-ed - a trend in suburbia restaurants, these days. Wine was bad. Sun set right into our eyes and temperature in the dining room was irratic. Overall, experience was okay and would be fine, if required to find something in this general area; not worth noting, or a second visit, however.
