Barraca is a Spanish Restaurant that celebrates the various Regions and Provinces of Spain through its Tapas, Paellas & Sangrias. Chef Pep, a native Barcelonean, brings authenticity to his kitchen: allowing diners to enjoy a unique and genuine Spanish Culinary Meal will sipping on one of Seven Seasonal Sangrias.

  • "I love tapas and I was looking for a restaurant that served authentic spanish tapas and wine. Barraca comes close. The service is superb. We had a pleasant server who gamely went along with my terrible jokes. He helpfully suggested staggering dishes so that they were still hot and made a very nice wine recommendations. We ordered several tapas. The gambas and meatballs were very good. The bombas needed more meat filling, less potato. Desserts: the churros were well done except they had too much sugar which drowned out the nice chocolate sauce which accompanied it. Sitting outdoors was pleasant except that the street view is not that great. Inside decor is nice, but the music was very loud when we arrived. I would eat here again."

  • "I'd been trying to try this restaurant for a long time (because the menu looked so delicious), however it didn't quite match my expectations. The place is really nice, but the food was OK. The tapas were really good, but the meal itself (I ordered a paella) was very bland and dry. In all fairness, I visited the restaurant during Restaurant Week, which I've come to realize is an awful way to try new restaurants because the prix fixe menu doesn't always represents the best food of the restaurant and with more dinners than usual, I feel that both food and service get compromised. I may give it another shot and go back for drinks and tapas."

  • "I went here for restaurant week and looking at the prices I'm not sure we really saved much money. All the food was good but nothing to write home about. The service was friendly but extremely disorganized and not very attentive. We sat outside which was fine but again nothing special. The one thing I wish I had taken advantage of is the unlimited Sangria for $15. I think you just need to buy an entrée. I don't have anything horribly bad or good to say, I don't recommend this place but also wouldn't discourage someone from going."

  • "Almost everything we ordered was extremely salty and the seafood paella was terrible. Favorite dishes were the goat cheese and artichoke flatbread and the garlic shrimp. There are so many other restaurants in the area. Will likely not ever return and would not recommend to others."

  • "Decided to go for brunch after going there for dinner and loving the sangrias, at brunch they have the bottomless sangria special for $15. The sangrias are a little less potent than during the evening, but no less enjoyable. The food was your regular brunch fare, which makes me wish I had done something more Spanish inspired, because the tapas I had had at dinner the visit before were very good."

  • "I dined here with 2 girlfriends last Thursday night. I had heard great things about it and we wanted to try it for Restaurant Week. We sat outside and ordered a big mix of tapas and a pitcher sangria. Everything was excellent until we wanted to order another pitcher and one of the managers, Loyda, came over to our table and asked us to leave. We had been there just over an hour and it didn't seem crazy busy. Either way it was the weirdest and rudest experience I've had in a restaurant to date. I've worked in restaurants and been to a plethora and have never experienced that. Our waiter was great and I felt bad because he didn't know what was going on. I would have recommended to friends if it wasn't for the rude manager at the end."

  • "Lots of girls! Tables of women everywhere makes for fun times but also for loud nosiy chatter. The industrial style decor with exposed brick and exposed steel dont absorb noise well. The food was delicious and the food portion size plenty. Enjoy the sangria with tasty tapas in a dimly lighted setting. The waitress was authentically Spanish and charming. Try the Gazpacho and the lamb albondigas! Definitely going to return to get my Spanish fix! Muy Bien!"

  • "Great sangrias and Spanish wines by the glass, the cheese plates are very tasty, interesting tapas. I must go back and try their signature dishes, the piallas, before I give my final judgement. The place has a good vibe, the clientele are a nice mix, but the music will suddenly get too loud to talk for awhile, like they can't decide if they should be traditional or hip. While the service is polite when they're there, they will disappear for long intervals, or if in sight you still have to wave them down to come over. And don't try to order a martini! A guess that makes them authentic since I couldn't get one last summer in Barcelona."

There was no wait staff to service our table. The servers and bus people did their best but their lack of training and poor english skill made it difficult for them to be affective. Go for good food if you have a ton of patients."

Waiting times: water took 10 minutes, order another 10 minutes to find out you must order from the same menu (NYC weekend specials) otherwise they cant serve you because of restaurant policy. No manager onsite to handle the situation. Very rude waiter. Next door I enjoyed a wonderfull BBQ."

  • "The decor is tasteful, organic and earthy feeling. The food was interesting and tasty. My husband and I went during Restaurant Week. I loved my grilled chicken salad, salmon, and roll cake (aka Brazo Gitano). My husband loved his cheese platter and berry flan, but his skirt steak was disappointingly overcooked. Their grilled scallions were amazingly delicious with the roasted potatoes. There were friend duos, couples, and groups all present when we were there, the noise level still managed to be pleasantly low. The bathrooms were clean, but a little strange. Overall, I was very happy with my experience at Barraca!"

  • "Arrived at Barraca with a friend for NYC Restaurant week for lucnh and was seated right away. The waitstaff were on point! My beet gazpacho, Salmon and Flan were heavenly. So full of flavor. The sangria - although was good - was packed with ice which if I did not remove would surely have diluted the flavor."

  • "Amazing. I had the vegetable paella, and a couple of tapas appetizers. Tip: the paella has a minimum of 2 servings but if you have 3 people, they can make a single dish with 3 different paellas. Perfect for a vegan eating with 2 non-vegans. :-) I can't remember the last time I was so stuffed. At my paella and much of the rice from the other 2 sections!"

  • "Food took a very long time to come out. Shrimp dish was incredibly oily and not very good. Steak is overpriced for an entree that should be an appetizer. We saw our waitress twice and then she disappeared. We had 30 minute periods of no attention. No one asked if the food was okay or if we needed anything. We wanted dessert but after I requested a desert menu, it took another 25 minutes for anyone to come talk to us about dessert. At that point we were ready to go. We paid for our food, which took another 30 minutes to process and effectively left unhappy and not full whatsoever. We spent more time waiting around than eating and talking. Overall review: 2/5 stars. Poor service, overcharged mediocre meals and just a bad experience."

We then saw the table next to us getting our food with the waitress nowhere to be found. 20 mins after that (now sitting for 40 mins) we flagged her down to get her know we hadn't received ANYTHING yet. The main course came out before the apps. and the food was just okay. This was an awful experience and we were really looking forward to it."

Staff was so friendly and nice, even though we changed the reservation time on short notice AND a friend was late, they were very nice about and let us sit (some other restaurants don't let you sit until everyone is there). When we said it was someone's birthday, they offered a recommendation on which dessert would work best for a candle. Very lovely waitress and other staff."

  • "I researched this on Trip Advisor and the paellas had mixed reviews so I stayed away from them. The tapas were well presented, tasted very good and very generous portions, in fact, four tapas were more than enough for two. I enjoyed the Serrano ham, the mushrooms were delectable and as was the potatoes. The rioja sangria was a bit disappointing and I do not think I would order sangria again as I have had much better at other places. Overall however the service was great, the food delicious and in a perfect spot in the village. I would revisit Barraca so I can try other things on their tapas menu as overall it as an enjoyable experience."

  • "Food - good, but many things listed on menu were unavailable (we were told in the first 5 min), even classic tapas items (calamari, octopus, peppers, mushrooms) & no daily specials in a half empty place at 7pm (I would have understood if it was a busy late night, and they ran out of supplies). Service - decent. No birthday perks provided. Issue with the cake we brought (+ our own knife, platter, candles) & asked them to refrigerate - without giving us a chance to agree, they cut the cake & tried to charge us $5 fee each x 5 of us = $25 (silly for a $25 cake). We asked to speak with the manager, the waitress checked & waived the fee. I would not return unless they have a full menu. And don't bring a cake - they will want to charge you!"

  • "The reviews make the place looks better than the real thing. The place needs to redress itself, it looks very modest for what they charge foe dinner. The service is attentive but they should improve the way they dress(too casual ) The food is rely below par. I hope other people read this and goes there knowing what to expect"
