We really enjoyed our visit to Bella Rossa. I rated the noise level a little high, but cannot confirm whether it's accurate or not for a standard Friday night, as the restaurant was having a "give back" fundraiser that night and I know reservations were booked for the entire evening. The food selection was great, and everything ordered was delicious. We all finished our meals, even though we were full. It was that good. We will definitely be back.

...or even Pizza Hut for that matter. My husband and I were attending a benefit and thought it was quite gracious that they were donating 20% of everyone's check, so we pulled out all the stops, including ordering food to go. What a mistake, since we hadn't tasted anything yet. The high points were the apps and beverages. The calamari was perfectly cooked...but they attempted to make it look like a larger portion by battering and deep frying banana pepper rings with the calamari. Not cool. For $12, I expect a pretty decent sized portion. I would have been happy with what we got, had it not been about half peppers. The Mozzarella Fritte, made with smoked mozzarella was delicious. The Sangria Bianco was delightful. The bread was wonderful, even when I reheated some in the microwave this evening. That's where the positives stop. The Caesar salad was so bland that my husband took one bite and passed the entire thing to me. I finished it, but was not impressed in the least. I've had better Caesar salad from a grocery store salad bar. We also ordered a Greek pizza from the specials menu--it sounded delicious, topped with tzatziki sauce, chicken, lettuce and tomatoes. I guess I assumed that the chicken would be seasoned. Or that the tomatoes wouldn't be pink and mealy. Or that maybe there would be feta or some other kind of cheese involved, since it was called a pizza. None of these things were true. I took one bite and left the rest for my husband. He ate one slice of the pizza and we left the rest, declining to take it to go. Today, we delved into the takeout, which we chose based on what would reheat well. The Fettuccine Pisello was swimming in butter with no appreciable amount of cheese to be found--we added our own and made it minimally palatable. The Baked Four Cheese Penne was terribly bland, but my husband managed to add some spices and make it decent. We haven't tried the Gnocchi con Bolognese, but based on everything else, I don't hold out a lot of hope.

I had the monkfish chef special. The fish was perfectly cooked, seasoned properly, and the pasta had the right amount of sauce. It was hot, and prepared just like it was described. My wife had the veal parm and it was delicious also. The best part of the meal was the meat cheese and bread platter. I love to pick my own items for the platter. It was an outstanding visit, cant wait to come again.

I was invited to dinner at The Stella Rossa Restaurant in Downingtown, PA on Saturday evening, 11/15/14. Being the first of four to arrive, we were met the front of the house by a hostess and 2 other very young 'seaters'. All were dressed far too casually to the point of almost being sloppy and I was not impressed with their professionalism, welcoming everyone who walked in with the same exact welcome line and intonation, robot-like. When the rest of our party arrived, the hostess referred to us as 'four' and told the 'seater ' to escort us to a table. She referred to all parties as the number in the party when having them seated. After being seated we were met by our waiter and we ordered our dinner. Upon arrival of my particular dinner, Chicken Parmesan, As noted on the menu, the side of Linguini arrived smothered in a white Alfredo sauce next to my parmesan covered in a marinara sauce. It did not work. Also, mozzarella had not been fully melted and the plate was not hot. I nevertheless tasted the meal and was so turned off I stopped eating. After a while, still hungry I tried a slice of my friends Pizza and was equally disappointed. The crust was soggy and again the cheese not completely melted on top. Not what I expected from a so called wood fired oven. I am a self-taught cook of over 30 years, don't go out often but when we do , the places are usually fairly upscale. I often make do with what I might consider a so-so meal and rarely write a review. This was a poor experience from beginning to end for me, and despite being offered another meal, I could not bring myself or my appetite to risk another disaster. They kindly removed the meal from my bill, (left the 2 glasses of Merlot on the bill) and gave me a tacky free drink card for my next meal there. What they failed to realize is that there will never be a next meal or drink at Stella Rossa.

We go to a Stella Rosa for the half crafe of wine, chop salad, and pizza deals. The pizzas are good, when cooked well. The wood fired oven requirks more attention. Most other entrees are overpriced for what they deliver.

What does "fit for foodies" mean? If you mean the food was good, then I'd recommend Stella Rossa. However... as nice as the ambiance, service, food, and noise level was, I got a pinched nerve in my hip from the lousy seat at one of the booths. This preoccupied my thought during the latter third of my otherwise wonderful experience there. For a restaurant of this "stature", I can only ask, are you kidding me! Very uncomfortable. I'll go again, ask to not be seated in a booth, but if this happens again, I'll recommend against the restaurant.

I have dined at Stella Rosa twice now and I'm not anxious to return. The hot food is not "hot" when it is served. The menu does not have any selections outside of heavy "pasta" dishes which are too much. Some additional alternatives such as gluten-free, broiled or grilled fishes would be helpful. Our society is filled with overweight people and diabetics. We need to get smarter about our menus. Also, our waitress was nervous and her jeans were so tight that they looked like they were pasted onto her...not becoming and unprofessional.

We went on a Saturday at 7:15p. They had someone singing and playing guitar in the bar area and it made it hard to talk to each other. It seemed early to have live music when I wanted to have a nice dinner. I was disappointed that we were seated so close to the musician, and that it made talking difficult. Food was great, service was excellent. There are not many "lighter fare" options other than salad though; I'd like to see healthier choices.

The ambiance is cool and the seating is spacious and comfortable. The menu is varied and the price point reasonable. The service was attentive, but seemingly hurried for a slow Tuesday evening. The food was good with some entrees being better than others. A few mistakes like pesto sauce being laden with butter, not olive oil, and undrained pasta that was swimming in water and diluting the sauce and therefore flavor of the dish were disappointing, but fixable. I would go back again and see if some of the minor flaws get worked out, because I live in an area that is overrun with Paneras and a good dinner at a fair price is hard to come by!

Slow Tuesday night. Group of six adults for a birthday (which was noted in the details on the reservation but not mentioned upon check in). The biggest problem is that we were seated at a booth designed for 4 (only had 4 place settings when seated) and there were plenty of 4 seat square tables that could have been put together to offer more space for the group. Server was ok. Food was nothing to rave about. For a place that promotes their pizzas they could use a new pizza chef. They miss the mark on them. Crust too thick, almost bland. The dessert selection left a lot to be desired. The only offering was small 4 oz sized parfaits. They need to step up their game if they expect to stay in business. Would not go again. It's a fail. Sorry.

Bar service was extremely slow as both bartenders seemed to be making drinks for guests at the table and not people at the bar enjoying dinner. A manager should have stepped in to help since the two bartenders were slammed. Food is so-so. We thought after our terrible experience at Firecreek that Stella Rossa would be a lot better. It was, but still not that great.

Enjoyed a casual dinner on the outdoor patio at Stella Rossa. Started off with a selction of salumi (most of the other appetizers were fried which didn't appeal to us). Like our entrees and thought the small wine list had interesting options. Plus you could get different size pours. And really enjoyed the atmosphere outside - one of the nicest outdoor dining spots in Chester County. Didn't have any pizza but they looked good so would go back and try.

The restaurant is located in a really great location...the decor is well done with an exciting vibe. The only thing I was not thrilled about is the food. It's just "okay". The menu looks good but I expected better from this chef. I've had better sauce at Olive Garden (and the prices are better there). I think this place could be outstanding, but they need to invest in the kitchen.

I have been to Stella Rossa's quite a few times and never had a bad experience.... until now. As usual the food was excellent, but our server was awful! He never came around to see if we needed anything and he was not very pleasant to talk to. After our meals came we never saw him again, and when he came by and dropped off the check and did not ask if we wanted anything and left before we could ask. One person in our group was finishing their meal so we were just sitting and chatting, trying to get his attention so we could get some water but he never came by. We saw him about 10' from us talking for an extended period of time with a female server, and never once looked our way. Bad service ruins a great meal and he did that for us.

My husband and I went on a Friday night for our anniversary dinner. We sat outside on their nice patio that overlooks the creek. The food was very good and our server was extremely friendly and competent. The only negative I would give is that our appetizer and entree came out at the same time. We had been there when it was Fireside and didn't really care for it. We thought this was much nicer. The restaurant was busy and the bar was also very active and looked like a fun place to go for a drink.

I was disappointed with this restaurant because I love all the others that are in this restaurant group. The wine list was very good and our salads were good as well. However the pizza was not acceptable. We were expecting a Tuscany style, thin and crispy with homemade taste. This pizza reminded me of store bought frozen Ellio's. Very dissappointing.
