  • Wonderful B-Day Dinner at Barndiva

Had a wonderful dinner celebration at Barndiva...the food, atmosphere and service are all exceptional! Even though the wait-staff takes their food very seriously, they have a very 'approachable' attiitude, which makes for a wonderful evening. If you get the chance, sit outside in the back area....you are transported to another time and place...it could not have been lovlier!

We were told by friends how great Barndiva was, so the expectations were high! We ordered the tasting menu, and it started out being creative and well presented, but rapidly went down from there. A lobster risotto, had 2 or 3 teeny pieces of lobster, in a soupy rice dish, and the repetition of ingredients throughout the meal became superfluous, watermelon in three dishes and avocado in 3 as well. Dessert was really uninspiring, and the bill came to $400.00 for 2, including their wine pairings. Other restaurants don't charge as much, for way more! Yes, its a pretty garden setting, but small wrought iron chairs are not the least bit comfortable!

This is the second time I have dined at Barndiva and each time has been amazing. Both times I have done the chef's tasting menu with the wines. Each course is amazing and the wines are paired perfectly. Loved the Hanzell chardonnay that we had with the lobster risotto. Everyone I've dined with at Barndiva has said that it's the best restaurant they've been to and I agree.

Four of us stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The menu is a bit limited, but everything appears to be super fresh and beautifully prepared. We were not permitted to sit in the patio as they were prepping for a special event, but it looks lovely. Perhaps the special event is the cause for the delay on our food, but our lunch order took over 45 minutes to get to our table. All told we spent nearly an hour and a half in the restautrant. I found the staff rude at times as they would not make eye contact with us when we we trying to see what the delay was about. Finally, when our bill came they comped our appetizer realizing the delay was excessive. Not sure I would return right away, too many other options in town.

The place is empty and we booked through open table for Father's Day weekend. The had us down for the next week. Really? The resturant was and remained empty and is was a big deal to seat us. Once seated it was great, but you get the feeling they can't improvise. Nothing for kids? Umm make something up. Still one of my favorite spots...but service is still lacking.

Barndiva is a great food establishment. If you live in the Healdsburg area or visiting like we were, you must go. The food was excellent and the presentation was beautiful. Service was impeccable. The Sommelier was very helpful with wine suggestions as well as drink suggestions and recipes. We will be going back every time we visit the Sonoma region. We love it!!!

This place is overrated. We heard it was going to be amazing and fresh. What we got is something, meh and overpriced. The cheapest glass of wine was $15 and was mediocre. Our meals were watery and tasteless(I had the lobster risotto, which was awful) hubby had scallops(you get a whopping 3 scallops for $36) We don't mind spending $200 on a dinner that knocks it out of the par. But we felt robbed when we left.

It wasn't bad, but in total, wasn't worth the $400 that my girlfriend and I spent for a fine dining experience. The service wasn't on par with the price point, which detracted from the food. We had the tasting menu, and it was all decent, but not as fabulous as I was hoping for the price. This would be a good place for lunch.

This was my first, of what will be many, visits to Barndiva. A friend had recommended the restaurant to me. A couple of girlfriends and I went for lunch on a beautiful spring day and ate in the back garden. It was beautiful and peaceful. The food was excellent. All three of us ordered different items and we were all equally impressed with out meals. Topped off with a bottle of prosecco, it was a great experience.

My wife and I love Barndiva. We've been here a few times since discovering it a few years ago and it is always a fantastic experience. We usually do the tasting menu with the wine pairing, and every time it is always some of the tastiest, most well prepared food we've had. The wine pairing is also one of the ways we've learned about some of our favorite wines, always spot on for the dishes!! The wait staff is extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu and always has great details on what you're about to enjoy, so don't be afraid to ask questions. It is not a cheap meal, but I expect to pay this kind of money for the type of food and service Barndiva provides, absolutely worth the money.

Barndiva really exceeded my expectations. The food is incredibly inspired and well-executed. My halibut was one of the very best (if not the best) fish dishes I have eaten (including those at Morimotos, Charlie Trotters, Gary Danko, Cyrus, Acquerello, etc). Really unbelievable stuff. Ditto on the young chicken, lobster risotto and many other hits. They even accommodated our finicky 8-year old's palate. The chocolate dessert was awe-inspiring. So nice to have a great restaurant in Healdsburg to replace Cyrus. I would eat here every night if I lived here! The wine list is a bit sparse when it comes to Old World selections. I don't know much about the California wines, but the red Burgs were way too young and from "off" vintages ('08 and '10).

Great heart and soul! Loved the fun, smart spirit of the staff. Food and wine fantastic except for the baguette - bit too hard. Room rocks - inspired design married with an inviting outdoor scene. Service, service, service - even those who didn't serve us directly seemed in love with the place and their role being supportive, fun and engaging with everyone around. Beautiful place that we'd love to frequent if it wasn't so far from home....Thank you Barn Diva - you made our 20 year wedding anniversary!

If you love salty food this is the place to be; if you're like me and like only a bit of salt, than don't dine here! Salt was on the butter for the yummy bread and the chicken main course. While I love herbs, the asparagus soup had an excessive amount of chives. Fortunately they gave lots of water to dilute the salt intake and my partner likes salt, so we I switched my soup for his big beet salad.

Everything felt very high end here and we loved the decor. Plenty of imaginative dishes. Disappointed by the bland, overpriced lobster risotto, but all other dishes were tasty. I got the steak which was served atop a lobster hash which gave it a nice dimension. Portions were ample so we had no room for dessert. Service was on the slow side. Overall I would recommend it.

We found the tasting menu and wine pairings outstanding, and the service truly impressive overall, with kudos to Matt in particular for dealing with our sometimes challenging comments and requests in an exemplary manner. These people really seem to care both about the food and your dining experience. Our only minor quibbles were the less than stellar bread, and not being asked how we wanted our halibut cooked (it came out medium, while we would have preferred medium rare). Bravo Barndiva, and keep it up!

This is without a doubt my favorite place to go in Healdsburg. The food is Excellent service is always great and the cocktails are a great way to get the evening started. The only down side is the price definitely makes it not a daily stop but if you can afford to go I guarantee it will not disappoint. Outside seats are a little uncomfortable but other then that it is a beautiful location that is quiet enough that you can actually hear the person sitting across from you. For brunch I recommend the Duck Hash also if it is the right time of season they have a beet and endive salad that made me realize how much I enjoy beets. All in all I honestly thing this blows every other place in town out of the water I hope it never changes.

We had a fabulous evening at Barndiva! We dined in their grape trellised outdoor dining area as it was a summery evening- we felt transported to Tuscany,Provence or the Spanish country side. With twinkling lights, the soothing wall fountain, the arched trellis of foliage, ..it was lovely. Our serving team was friendly, timely, and patient with wine comparisons and suggestions. The beet salad was memorable- gorgeous and fresh from the garden; the lobster risotto was rich and yet contrasted perfectly with fresh peas, the warm brie with apricots was delicious, and the Preston wine selection was enjoyed by all.
