BarndivaWow!Over the top food presented beautifully in a great setting in ample portions with flavors as distinctive as the finest wine. Unbelievably good.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVery goodOur first visit but it's a very good addition to the Healdsburg dining scene.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting menu was creative, goodLoved the barn and atmosphere. Waiter recommended not so great vino, food was delish. Definitely recommend.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVEWe had an amazing meal here. I had one of the literally "prettiest" salads I have ever had. It was delicious too. Do not skip on the croquettes they are amazing. The chicken was also fantastic. Very nice wait staff. We love this place and will def. be going back again!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but expected better for priceEverything felt very high end here and we loved the decor. Plenty of imaginative dishes. Disappointed by the bland, overpriced lobster risotto, but all other dishes were tasty. I got the steak which was served atop a lobster hash which gave it a nice dimension. Portions were ample so we had no room for dessert. Service was on the slow side. Overall I would recommend it.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding tasting menu & serviceWe found the tasting menu and wine pairings outstanding, and the service truly impressive overall, with kudos to Matt in particular for dealing with our sometimes challenging comments and requests in an exemplary manner. These people really seem to care both about the food and your dining experience. Our only minor quibbles were the less than stellar bread, and not being asked how we wanted our halibut cooked (it came out medium, while we would have preferred medium rare). Bravo Barndiva, and keep it up!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur visit to BarndivaWe had a fabulous evening at Barndiva! We dined in their grape trellised outdoor dining area as it was a summery evening- we felt transported to Tuscany,Provence or the Spanish country side. With twinkling lights, the soothing wall fountain, the arched trellis of foliage, ..it was lovely. Our serving team was friendly, timely, and patient with wine comparisons and suggestions. The beet salad was memorable- gorgeous and fresh from the garden; the lobster risotto was rich and yet contrasted perfectly with fresh peas, the warm brie with apricots was delicious, and the Preston wine selection was enjoyed by all.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFood Gets Better & BetterWe have eaten here many times, lunch and dinner. The food is local, fresh and outstanding. Sometimes the service is a bit slow but the staff is eager to please, even the buser could explain the dishes.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis has always been my goThis has always been my go to restaurant in Healdsburg. Very relaxing beautiful outdoor and indoor. Great food5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe review are right - it's great! Our evening at Barndiva was even better than we had anticipated. The people there are very friendly and the service was perfect. If anything, they were TOO attentive! The food was spectacular - we sought out the chef to thank him when we left. My wife is vegetarian, and the waiter asked her what she liked and didn't like, and the chef made something special for her. Their specialty drinks were also very nice.
We sat out back on the patio, and although it was very nice and semi-private, it was quite chilly - they should have brought out some heaters. We had to finish our (amazing) dessert inside. It was quiet that night, we would like to go back when they have some of the special dinners, buffet, etc.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat's not to love. Amazing,What's not to love. Amazing, fresh, locally sourced food. From the minute we got there, it was a wonderful experience.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat menu - nice variety,Great menu - nice variety, great presentation and the flavors and combinations balanced the meals for a most enjoyable dinner. Service was very attentive and we were never at a loss for anything.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the food and serviceEnjoyed the food and service very much. Will definitely come back again..4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThird time dining at Barndiva.Third time dining at Barndiva. As always, the food and service were excellent. Fantastic asparagus soup, great entrees. Scallop entree was superb. A crab BLT sandwich was a special surprise. One of our favorite restaurants. Especially nice for lunch. Outdoor seating in warm weather.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Birthday Lunch at Barndiva !Took two friends for a birthday lunch .The service and especailly outstanding...Our server's name was Katherine. She was attentive and very helpful in suggesting drinks and our menu selelctions. She also had a sense of humor and patience. Yes, several photos were taken of the party people by Katherine. The food was delicious ...duck, halibut, beautiful tasty salads. tangerine sorbet, coffee. birthday candles....it ws all there. Thank you Barndiva for a wonderful lunch and an attentive server.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMKeep the barn door open!!!!!!!!!!!!My Wife and I did the Barndiva tasting menu....each of the portions were perfectly proportioned, extremely well prepared, superbly presented, and DELICIOUS!!!!!!! The wine list was also OUTSTANDING!!!! If you are looking for an extra special place, this is it.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMNice find in HealdsburgThe food and the service was excellent. The waitstaff support each other well. First wine by the glass a little small , but they make up for it on the second. We licked the plates and washed it down with some well chosen wines by the glass. Not an inexpensive place so expect to spend some coinage.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOrder the Vegetarian Entree!!Barndiva upholds the stereotype that the food in the Sonoma/Napa region is ridiculously good. We were both so full from eating all day that we ordered two vegetarian appetizers and the vegetarian entree, and despite our not being super hungry we devoured everything. We ordered the "vegetarian" at the suggestion of our waiter, and we were so glad we did. It consists of the patron telling the waiter the types of vegetables they like, and the Chef puts together a creative and delicious assortment with a beautiful presentation. In an area with so much competition, Barndiva stands out.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBest inspired menu in HealdsburgBest inspired menu in Healdsburg !
Wait staff described menu items with passion and knowledge.
Great for a small, intimate wedding or party.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMCrispy Young Chicken is the best.My husband ordered the Crispy Young Chicken and declared it the best chicken dish he's ever had. We travel and eat out a lot and we love great restaurants. Our waiter described the dish and mentioned it is basted with butter so I suspect that had a lot to do with it. Still, it was a lovely dinner and we had a great time.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was extraordinaryThe food was extraordinary and the service and ambiance superb. We're going back as soon as calenderable and are already looking forward to it. We give it an A+ on all fronts!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulousThis is a Healdsburg favorite for us. On this visit to wine country we were happy to discover they have a stellar Sunday Brunch. The food is fabulous and eclectic. Service is flawless always! We rate Barndiva as a definite stop whenever we visit.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was a pleasure--food,Everything was a pleasure--food, service, attractive and relaxed dining room (away from the bar). Well-priced (they don't gouge) wine menu with many small hard-to-find Sonoma County wineries. Will definitely return.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Filet Mignon burger wasThe Filet Mignon burger was the best burger I've ever had — in seventy-one years of life! Kudos!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting Menu and don't think twiceWe sat down to have the Chef's Tasting Menu and never looked back...
We first discovered Barn Diva 2 years ago when we were in the area for a wedding (we live in DC). We planned a trip back to San Francisco and as soon as I had the airfare booked, I booked our dinner reservations (3+ months in advance). We were only in H-burg for 2 nights and wanted to make sure it was centered around our dinner. We ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu:
Amuse Bouche
Seared Scallop
Crispy Pork Belly
Petite Filet Mignon
Passionfruit Babar
We ate, and laughed, and enjoyed the total experience and will be back as soon as we can.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur new favoriteAfter our second meal here, it's moved to our favorite in the county. Be sure and take some money--it's not cheap. But, well worth it.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe eat there once a week.We eat there once a week. Love it. Artisan plate is incredible!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWait in the Bar, Empty RestaurantOur reservations were for 6:30 & we arrived at 6:20. The restaurant was 20% occupied with plenty of open tables. The hostess told us that our reservations were for 6:30,our table would be ready in 10 minutes & directed us to the bar to wait. Since the restaurant was almost completely empty we were all astonished & annoyed. We did not want to wait in the bar / have a drink, so we walked outside. Two minutes later a gentleman came to get us & apologized for the miscommunication. We were seated at one of the many tables that was open to begin with. I rated the service outstanding because our waiter was great- but the reception person was not.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal!!Great dining experience. Had a 5 course tasting menu paired with wine. Excellent food. Highly recommend it especially to experience Barndiva's use of different ingredients with lots of flavor in a variety of very tasty dishes.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA great meal to celebrateA great meal to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHealdsburg has a number ofHealdsburg has a number of wonderful restaurants - for us, this was by far the best of the best!! The chicken and cauliflower soup are to die for - as was the fish!! We are going back, soon....3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways great food and serviceBoth the food and service were excellent (as usual). I LOVE the croquettes. The crispy duck leg salad is wonderful.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our first time diningIt was our first time dining there, and it won't be our last. Each plate was was a marvel on its own, and by the end of the night it was hard to pick a favorite when they were all aces. The best dining experience I've had. I came in with high expectations and their service and cooking blew me away.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding waiter with emenceOutstanding waiter with emence knowledge of the food and prep. Best waiter ever.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was delicious. Well preparedFood was delicious. Well prepared and well presented. We had lunch reservations but then changed our mind and decided to eat at the bar. Perfect! The bartender (Brendon?) made us lovely drinks and was knowledgable about the menu and offered great recommendations. Patio looked beautiful.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary dinnerI took my wife here to celebrate our anniversary. We were warmly greeted and seated at a great table. Our waiter brought over champagne to celebrate our special occasion, which was very nice.
Drinks: Go with "Dealer's Choice." You briefly tell the bartender what you like and they whip up a drink specifically for you. I said "whiskey" and my wife said "refreshing, fruity" - we both loved our surprise drinks!
Food: We had the 6-course Winter Tasting Menu ($75/person), which was outstanding! We started with cauliflower soup, then jardiniere salad (all local, organic), then seared scallop, crispy pork belly, filet mignon and the best dessert ever! This was one of the best meals we've ever had in 10 years together. Service was exceptional!!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent attention to detail,Excellent attention to detail, both in the kitchen and in the dining room. The art (from the nextdoor Barndiva gallery) was interesting, well matched and fitting to the decor. Excellent dining experience.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite brunch ever...My favorite brunch ever... I really loved the lobster francaise. I also really enjoyed the cauliflower soup when dining there. Everything was great.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMEye CandyThe food at Barndiva was off the hook. The presentation was true art. The only complaint was that it was not quite hot enough. Still tasted wonderful. For appetizers we had the Pork Belly (ridiculous) and the Beet Salad (beautifully and painstakingly prepared). Then the Filet Mignon and Rabbit. Both exquisite! For those over 50 the noise level made it hard to hear. Otherwise, a definite return visit!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first visit and we wereOur first visit and we were please that Barndiva lives up to the reviews. While not inexpensive, the cuisine is first rate. We found the appetizers were a reasonable size (i.e. not tiny) and both the scallops and the crispy pork belly appetizers were terrific. We both had the rabbit, which was done three ways, and liked it very much even though a very rich dish (could of had less butter and more au jus). The wine list was top notch, but, again expensive, so we settled on some bubbly (if you are going to pay that much you might as well have 'champagne'). Desserts were fantastic! We will return, but, likely bring our own bottle and pay corkage... or save up for the fabulous, but expensive wines.2/9/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent but overpricedvery ggod cooking, excellent service and wine pairing, but overpriced!11/25/2012 12:00:00 AM
