On my second visit I was happy
with the food and service as the first. Yummy food. Friendly efficient staff"

Food was delicious. Menu was
perfect. Tasty. Great ambiance."

Had dinner on the weekend and glad
I finally made it to the restaurant. When you walk in, they have you spin a wheel for a free prize (drinks, etc), there's a lively bar on one side and tables on another and an upstairs dining area. Food and drinks were amazing and the servers were nice. Even when they messed up our drinks and we didn't like one of them, the manager came by, comped our drinks and apologized for the inconvenience. Overall a great experience."

Went for the first time on a
Friday night with my girlfriend and another couple. I'd walked by the restaurant many times and wanted to try it for a while. The menu looked great and seemed like it would would be a cool scene inside. The menu lived up to my expectations but the vibe not as much. It was a Friday night at 9pm and we sat upstairs and were one of two occupied tables upstairs. I was fine with that, but others looking for a lively atmosphere, maybe not so much. The downstairs, however, was full. I think Barn Joo would be a good place to go with a big group. I really liked the food and thought the menu was creative. Would go back again."

This was my first time going there
with my boyfriend. I was surprised that I've never seen it before in the Union Square area before! First of all, when you walk into this long hallway to the host, the first thing I noticed was the decor. I loved how they decorated the place. They had this spinning wheel game too but no one touched it that night. I was seated immediately at a cozy table with our names on a heart shaped card, in front of it was rose petals with 3 heart shaped chocolates. Waitress came to greet us & asked for our drinks. Later brought out edamame, we gave her our choice of appetizer & our food order. All the food was excellent & got us full. In honor of V-Day they gave us chocolate covered strawberries w/whipped cream."

This place really lives up to the
reviews. Everything we got, from the drinks to the main dishes was phenomenal. Kimchi pancakes were perfect and the Bibimbap was one of the best I've had."

I can't believe I have not noticed
this place before. Barn Joo is amazing! This was my second time there and I had a blast. Happy hour is 7 days a week from 4-7pm and so much to choose from. My friends were wowed at how well the service was. Drinks are superb. The blue point oysters are so fresh and smooth. I will definitely be coming back again. Thank you!"

Reservation - easy reservation
online Seating - great accommodation by the wait staff and the hostess; very friendly also (I was waiting for the first hostess to seat us and the second hostess asked me if I needed anything to ensure that I was not being neglected; I asked for the main floor seating and the male hostess or manager sat us at the bar seating right below the speakers which was terrible but the server found us a new seat and I was very thankful.) Food - not the best; just a "OK" korean/japanese food (salmon roll tasted very fishy; spicy squid was not flavorful enough - just korean pepper paste; I had their wings and pork pot which were excellent so those I recommend) Drinks - Soju cocktail was excellent"

I was given the job of making a
reservation and it needed to be in the area of. Barn Joo sounded good and was in the right price range. I did not expect the great experience we had. For one the ambiance is great. It is modern, stylish, clean and hip but not overwhelming. They have their own signature drinks using traditional Korean spirits, Then the food started coming and it was a wonderful "nouveau" take on traditional Korean food. Even a Korean native who was with us enjoyed it thoroughly. Oh and don't forget to spin the wheel when you come in to see if you won something like a drink or a dessert! And the service was very attentive and quick. Barn Joo is now on my list and also to use as a recommendation for other people."

Been there several times. Love to
see how they've been improving food, drink n deco. Worth every single visit."
Dined on 1/10/2014
This was the second time I've
dined st Barn Hop. The large space is cool, but it seems to overshadow the food. The chicken wings and kimchi pancake were good, but I wasn't wowed by anything."
Dined on 1/4/2014
Food was delish!! So fun! Had a
blast with my group of friends!"
Dined on 1/4/2014
It was ok, but nothing special. I
can't really remember one dish that stood out. The sangria was great, but that's not what you come to a Korean gastropub for. I'll stick with the smoky K-town restaurants for the great vibe and authentic food!"
Dined on 1/3/2014
I was pleasantly surprised at how
good this restaurant is. Our server did an amazing job at steering us to order a variety of food that was the best I've has in a long time and certainly the best in Chelsea. I will be back!"
Dined on 12/28/2013
I never write reviews and am a
restaurant owner/chef myself. I had my X-mas Eve birthday celebration with 7 others at Barn Jo and they went above and beyond with everything. Feeling welcome, accommodating towards my 2 kids and baby who were with us and had many special touches that showed great service, hospitality and kindness. I would recommend to anyone and I had a great experience. Thanks to Ray and his staff that day. You made my often forgotten about birthday very special. Ted."
Dined on 12/24/2013
Food was great, but the service
was a little slow. Barn Joo was very quiet and great place to have an office lunch. We found it cold to sit near the front windows, so I would advise against sitting there, if you can help it, in the winter. Overall, great."
Dined on 12/18/2013
We went with Korean friends and we
all enjoyed the tapas-style take on Korean food, especially the wings. The servers were super friendly. We also enjoyed sampling many of the different cocktail flavors as they came in share-able carafes, which was nice. We also enjoyed spinning the Barn Joo wheel for a free drink. It sounded like they were having a private event in the hotel (the restaurant is located within) so that was a little strange for the ambience, but we had a nice time."
Dined on 12/14/2013
Food was fine... nothing
extraordinary, but fine. Wings did stand out... delicious!"
Dined on 12/12/2013
A nice surprise in the Flatiron
district with a large space nicely decorated with warm wood. Our server was congenial and food was quick to arrive after our order. We had the chicken meatballs and BBQ short ribs - both very good and big enough portions for two people to share easily. Same with the scallion pancakes. The roasted mushrooms with truffle were a perfect side dish. We'll be going back!"
Dined on 11/20/2013
This was a wonderful dining
experience. Loved the decor; very creative. The food was amazing. I will definitely be returning."

Fun place and very nice ambiance
for the area but service was lacking"
Dined on 11/9/2013
We were looking for a Korean
restaurant in the Flatiron neighborhood and stumbled upon Barn Joo. it's fairly new had some interesting fusion items on the menu. All n all a good meal!"
Dined on 11/10/2013
The decor is dark and moody -
which is a good thing. With a faux moon above and poetry lining the walls, it's a great spot for a date. Service was excellent, with a staff the clearly enjoys their work. Dishes are perfectly sized, and inexpensive enough to encourage a wide selection at dinner. With configurable tables, a great spot to meet friends, or for intimate and cozy dinner for two. Flavor combinations are outstanding, pairing Korean themes with an NYC palate."
Dined on 11/9/2013
Had a wonderful experience at Barn
Joo. Staff was very attentive. Went during happy hour, and the specials were wonderful. Would definitely go back again!"
Dined on 11/2/2013
It's a nice atmosphere for a
romantic date, the service was great! The foods were amazing!"
Dined on 10/18/2013
Though the food was decent, the
service was terrible. Waited too long to order, food brought out was not consistent nor in the correct order. Our waitress disappeared and we had to catch anyone we could to do our desert and our check. Crowd was inordanantly self-important."
Dined on 10/19/2013
Much tweak needed in operation and
with portion sizes."
Dined on 7/13/2013
I recently went to Barn Joo for my
birthday celebration with a group of nine friends. I contacted them because they had a prefix menu and given my friends aren't always the most adventurous of eaters, I thought that a preset menu would make things easy. When we arrived, they had dinner menus made for each of us, noting it was my birthday celebration (definitely a special touch). The food was GREAT and there was a LOT of it (much more than I was expecting). The staff was very accommodating-- I asked to change the pre-fix menu slightly (swapping a meat dish for a vegetarian one) and they recommended a number of options. Everyone loved and not everyone had Korean before--I would definitely go back and recommend to others."
Dined on 9/30/2013
Could use more servers. Service
was very slow as there was only one server. But likely not the problem as the food and drinks were slow to come out. Too bad, as the food was quite good. Chicken wings are delicious."
Dined on 9/22/2013
delicious food, amazing service,
cool atmosphere will definitely return soon!"
Dined on 9/11/2013
I love when someone serves me
something that I normally don't like in a way I have never had it before and I end up loving it. So, I have always disliked the flavor of red beans whenever it's popped up desserts that I've eaten...until today. Korean sweet red beans (cooked at Barn Joo in a slightly sweet, slightly salty mix that has just a hint of pork) could not find a better pairing than the creamy sweet vanilla gelato they served it with. I never thought I could love red beans like this. It was a great way to end a very tasty and creative meal. The staff here are friendly and professional people who are clearly excited about the food they serve. This place made me realize there's a lot I have yet to discover about Korean cuisine."
Dined on 9/1/2013
A nice, fun,somewhat different
place. Only 1/2 dozen beers but good ones. Modern Korean or fusion food is very good and the decor is unique welcoming. Surprisingly not jammed at 8 PM on a summer Saturday."
Dined on 8/11/2013
Loved their atmosphere, service
and food. Their rolls and pancake were so amazing and we tried bunch of cocktails during happy hour and those are all phenomenal. Definitely one of my new favorite place!"
Dined on 7/11/2013
The ambiance & food at Barn Joo
was just as good as I had hoped it would be. The staff was extremely nice & helpful, & spinning the wheel for making a reservation & winning a free glass of sangria was a delightful bonus! It seemed relatively calm & relaxed for a saturday night, which i like. I would definitely go back."
Dined on 7/21/2013
They changed the menu recently and
I believe it was a bad idea. The food now is average and nothing different from what you find in any restaurant in Ktown. The service is average- always waiting to refill us with drinks, nothing special anymore about this place."
Dined on 7/13/2013
The meal here was great - however
once we'd eaten our mains, the waiters disappeared. It's like the restaurant closed and didn't tell us (there was one other table of diners still remaining.) No once came to see if we wanted more drinks, or dessert, or anything...we had to go ask for the check because we assumed they were closing. It was very odd - I hope they figure the service part out, because the food was excellent and it has the potential to be a wonderful night out."
Dined on 7/9/2013
Our server Cristina was so helpful
for accommodating our request. She was so kind and bright and we all had a great time with her informative and attentive service. The atmosphere was great and we loved the full moon haning on the ceiling. We all had bibimbap and it was nice hot and crispy. Will definitely come back to try more dishes."
Dined on 6/26/2013
The space is very nice but every
dish mediocre at best. After dinner I had a scotch and for $17 it was the smallest pour I've seen in a long time. They do all the little things wrong, some of the most important things, like food they also drop the ball. In fact the only thing they did well was design the space..."

Happened to stumble upon Barn Joo
one afternoon while grabbing lunch with a friend. Stopped in and had a fantastic Korean gastropub meal with a server who was extremely knowledgeable and a selection that was as diverse as it was eclectic! Decided to bring some family friends a second time and I was recognized as a previous guest, all accommodations were met and they even thanked me for visiting with a light after-lunch dessert on the house. Very beautiful space and most definitely look forward to my next visit. A great addition to the flatiron neighborhood."
Dined on 6/21/2013
Great food. Pork belly, and
braised short ribs was amazing"
