Great Korean spot right across from the AMC at 19th and Broadway. You can never go wrong with Korean Fried Chicken. I was all about the kimchi fried rice, while my fiance wasn't too big on it. Tacos weren't as good as advertised (we had an assortment). The Wheel--by which you can win free drinks/menu items--was cool, but only one per table. We DID win a free house Cab, and it was the best house wine I'd ever had, so heyyyyyy.

Clever LCD screens make up a countryside Korean scene that changes seasons as you dine. A full moon hovers over your head in the main room, and rustic ropes add texture and visual interest. Some of the more classic Korean dishes are on offer -- Americanized enough even for a first timer who has never tried Korean before. Dumplings were a bit bland, scallion pancake was delicious, and the Bimimbap with bolgugi was a huge hit. Staff was warm and welcoming, and if you make a reservation at the restaurant, they invite you to spin a wheel of fortune to see if you win a free half dozen oysters, beer, etc. Also to note, hard to beat happy hour with bar bites and $1 oysters. A great find just off Union Square.

We went here as a group of three. The service was great. The place is really nice. The portions are really small! Even though we ordered what we thought was more than enough food, we ended up ordering more. The bill was really expensive. So I won't be returning even though I like the restaurant and the food was good. Portions are definitely an issue.

I frequently bring business guests to Barn Joo for lunch. My only nit-picky thing is that it always takes awhile to get the check, which can sometimes be awkward when you're with a business associate you don't know very well instead of a good friend. Otherwise, great spot --I highly recommend.

Solid place. The food is good (a bit mild by Korean standards, but the serving person steered us away from a dish that she thought our western palates might not be comfortable with, a complicated gesture...). Service was fine, just a little confused. The spinning wheel for a free item is a nice touch. We liked the big Moon on the ceiling.

I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.

was a great find for some korean fusion ... overall thought the the food preparation and what the variety of the menu was great. Thought that some dishes could have used some higher quality ingredients that would have made things perfect... for instance... the tortilla for the tacos (tasted like straight out of one of those packaged supermarket ones)

Been here two times, both in one week - with small groups of people. You should make reservations around the evening - this place gets packed fast. Both times food was tremendous. Had the Beef Bibimbop, large portion and tasty. I went back specifically to get the Sea Urchin Bibimbop, AMAZING. But boy do they skimp on the urchin, the best part of the meal but only a spoonful. Must try the Lavender Cocktail OR Lavender Club Soda. It's extremely refreshing - my whole group ordered them and had refills (not free though). The first time I had it I suggested to the hostess to put a real lavender twig in there, and the second time they DID! So good.

With service this slow the quality of the meal and space become irrelevant. Had been before and didn't have a problem but this time it took half an hour for our soup appetizer to arrive, though only after we asked where our food was, and despite that it still arrived lukewarm. Particularly impressive as the restaurant wasn't nearly full. Hint to management: maybe one server for the entire restaurant isn't enough.

Had dinner on the weekend and glad I finally made it to the restaurant. When you walk in, they have you spin a wheel for a free prize (drinks, etc), there's a lively bar on one side and tables on another and an upstairs dining area. Food and drinks were amazing and the servers were nice. Even when they messed up our drinks and we didn't like one of them, the manager came by, comped our drinks and apologized for the inconvenience. Overall a great experience.

This was my first time going there with my boyfriend. I was surprised that I've never seen it before in the Union Square area before! First of all, when you walk into this long hallway to the host, the first thing I noticed was the decor. I loved how they decorated the place. They had this spinning wheel game too but no one touched it that night. I was seated immediately at a cozy table with our names on a heart shaped card, in front of it was rose petals with 3 heart shaped chocolates. Waitress came to greet us & asked for our drinks. Later brought out edamame, we gave her our choice of appetizer & our food order. All the food was excellent & got us full. In honor of V-Day they gave us chocolate covered strawberries w/whipped cream.

Went for the first time on a Friday night with my girlfriend and another couple. I'd walked by the restaurant many times and wanted to try it for a while. The menu looked great and seemed like it would would be a cool scene inside. The menu lived up to my expectations but the vibe not as much. It was a Friday night at 9pm and we sat upstairs and were one of two occupied tables upstairs. I was fine with that, but others looking for a lively atmosphere, maybe not so much. The downstairs, however, was full. I think Barn Joo would be a good place to go with a big group. I really liked the food and thought the menu was creative. Would go back again.
