Outstanding service. Outstanding food. Outstanding ambiance. This was our second time visiting the Barking Frog. I made reservations for our anniversary and we expected to have a wonderful meal, but our experience surpassed all expectations. I had the venison and my husband chose the scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection. The entire staff was very attentive especially our server Erin.

Food Channel comes to the Eastside . . Plate presentation for all three courses was perfect. . . I know . . But yes . . perfect. Food temperature was perfect. The bread was perfect. The best bread in Washington state?. . Definitely top 3. My only . . Only negative is the acoustics, but I am sure it is deliberately designed to be loud . . For 2 people it's fine . . a table of 4? Wellll, not for me. Highly recommend for solo and parties of 2. Muscles in coconut soup . . do it! Service was professional.

  • Great food and service but awful hostess...
    SEATTLELITEVIP

I would have given this restaurant 5 stars esp the service but the hostess ruined the night for us. We made a reservation for 2 at 8:15pm and we arrived kind of early. It was a busy night and so we understood that we can't be seated earlier than our reserved time. We patiently waited at the lobby and then after few minutes of waiting, another couple arrived w/ no reservation & was advised that there's a bit of wait. Couple chose to wait at the bar but after few mins, the lady told the hostess that they will just go to another restaurant. The hostess convinced the impatient lady that the wait will be less than 5 mins and so she returned to the bar & wait. It was already 8:18pm and still no table for us but hostess said that they're just cleaning up our table. It was 8:21pm when the hostess approached the other couple and seated them right before our eyes! I think this is very unacceptable. I was really mad because it was the first time that it ever happened to me. Then finally the hostess approached us around 8:25 and told us that our table is ready. I was very upset that I asked her on our way to our table on why the other coule were seated before us when we have our reservation for 8:15pm? She bluntly told me that they were threatening to leave that's why she made them her priority, how rude is that? Then she began apologizing since she realized that we have our reservation and then she bagan making up excuses that the original table reserved for us wasn't ready that's why she seated them first, how odd is that? I'm not buying that & I don't even know which table was reserved or not, all I know is that there are 4 tables available when she seated them. Just treat us with respect it doesn't matter which table we'll end up with. This is not not about an issue of entitlement nor complaining just because, this is customer service that's in question and the lack of respect for people diligent enough to make their reservation ahead of time. PLEASE SHOW SOME RESPECT!

  • Dine Around Seattle
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 11/18/2014
I went here for the Dine Around Seattle lunch special. The Grand Marnier prawns were the best part of my meal--a surprisingly upscale version of honey walnut prawns that one might find at a Chinese restaurant. I also had the short rib truffle mac and cheese, which was good, but I wish the short rib came with some sort of reduction sauce to cut through the richness of the dish. I felt overly heavy and weighed down by the time I was finished. The service was great, though. All in all, I would go here again for another Dine Around deal or if I'm in the area, but I wasn't so impressed with all parts of my meal that I would go out of my way to come back for the full-priced menu.

Service was great, food was excellent. The ambience is a bit awkward in my opinion. We were seated by the window with the long bench and the bench seats are very uncomfortable. Two tables were sat next to us and both tables asked to move. Other than this the night was perfect.

For several years Barking Frog remains one of our favorite restaurants. We've had several outstanding appetizers, entrees and desserts. The worst dish we ever had was still very good, and that's the exception in our experience. Very comfortable high end lodge fee where you can dress up or dress semi-casual and be right at home. Lots of from the field to the table ingredients are used. Wine flights available and recommended. Expect to pay 60 to 75 for three courses without wine per person.

This was an excellent restaurant and fit the wine country of Washington/ back-woods lodge sort of feel of the area. I had the lamb which was unbelievable- she had the vegetarian entree off of an exclusively vegetarian menu. We did not get to try the wine; we had had plenty of wine by the end of the day and wanted to try and relax- which this was a great place to do that in. The wait staff was very very good- gave good recommendations; came to the table just the right amount of times (not too much). We also needed a cab to get back to the hotel which they setup and they held our wine bottles for us. Overall a very civilized and together experience- definitely well worth the price; which is not extreme by any means. Stick to the game meats and rustic flavors it is what they do best.

I didn't catch his name but he was so great. He was courteous and respectful and joked with us, recommended the prawns appetizer and even the wine bottle is a better discount for us instead of the pairings. What a fabulous server. And as always the food at Barking Frog is to die for. Thank you for making our girls night (birthdays and holiday celebration) one to remember.

From the moment we stepped into the restaurant we were received with warm smiles and friendly service. The bartender created a custom cocktail for my husband and suggested a divine bubbly rose from New Mexico (yes, NM!). Our server was amazing! Once they uncovered I eat gluten-free, they were quick to bring GF snack and options throughout the evening. They staff finished our evening with a lovely "Anniversary" dessert and card - signed by everyone. It was such a lovely evening... We are already planning our next visit!

Food and service was great, enjoyed the Dine Around Seattle dinner offer. Only negative was location of our table - right in front of service/kitchen entry. The clanging of dishes being washed was annoying until the restaurant became full and the conversation of all in restaurant drowned out the clanging. That table should be eliminated and/or a partition placed in front of the entry. (Also enjoyed 2 days of very good breakfasts as we were staying at the Willows Lodge. Not very busy at breakfast time so overall experience then was excellent!)

We went there for the Dine Around Seattle offer, but then found out it wasn't offered on Friday. Stayed for lunch anyway and didn't regret our decision. All menu items we chose had very generous portions. My Crab/Cobb salad was delicious and had ingredients not often found in a Cobb salad. It was the seafood surprises that made it so delicious. Splurged and ordered the squash soup--so smooth & creamy and so flavorful. Will come again.

We took advantage of the Dine Around Seattle offering. The food, service, etc. was great but we both would have liked to have had less carbs (fabulous bread brought to the table, toast with the artichoke dip, ravioli, which is pasta, and tempting desserts - tart or bread pudding) and more veggies/salads to choose from for this special. We could have restrained ourselves and ordered off the menu, but we wanted to try this $18 special, as it should have been a good representation of the restaurant. We will return sometime and order some veggies and salads and maybe their sorbet.

My sweetheart and I went to celebrate our birthdays. We had heard that maybe the restaurant wasn't what it used to be but decided to go anyway and just see for ourselves. The wine we chose was perfect and totally yummy adding to everything that came next. We ordered the scallops and the duck. Both were very delicious. We started with the beet salad and added the brussel sprouts. I was very happy with everything. Our waiter was charming. My only "less than" comment would be that the table wasn't at all intimate. We were very close to those around us and the table was long and narrow so I felt far away from my partner. If I could snuggle a bit more it would have been perfect.

We all know the Barking Frog is wonderful. When you go there, you know the food will be excellent, the wine parings impeccable-- but I was so amazed but my service, this time in particular. I am gluten intolerant and it was sooo amazing how far and above they went to accommodate, without me asking!! they changed out the bread for gluten free crackers, adjusted the dishes, even added things to the dessert!! ALL without me ASKING for it! all I said was I was gluten intolerant. such attention to detail. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience!

Four of us dined on their 3 course meals for $30. The food was excellent. The service was very slow. When we had already been served our main course, a couple was seated to the left of us and a couple to the right of us. Both couples, ordered, ate their three courses, paid their bill and left before we were served our dessert. My coffee was never refilled.

This was my first visit and had high expectations. We went for our anniversary. Polite staff, seated quickly, congratulations card, complimentary amuse-bouche. The tables are slightly crowded, so not as private is you might like. We started off with the curry mussels, which we were told is one of the best dishes on the menu. While it was good, there could have been more flavor complexity / spice. I've had better. I had the duck and my wife the venison, both cooked perfectly, however both our sides were undercooked. Crunchy sweet potatoes? We ordered Pecan Pie for dessert, but was more like a tart from a grocery store. Very disappointing. Over priced for the quality. I might try again.

I loved this restaurant. The food was beautiful, tasty and unique. The wine list was excellent and heavy on the local Columbia Valley / Woodinville wines. Our server and the host were very knowledgeable about the wines and took the time to tell some stories about their favourite places. My husband eats out at fancy restaurants all of the time, all over the world, and is hard to impress when it comes to food. I judge a place on its service just as much as the menu. The Barking Frog stood out for both of us. Food and service was wonderful!

Everything here is excellent...but if I am ever asked what I want for my last meal it would be the Gran Marnier Prawns... and if I was forced to eat dessert the chocolate bread pudding is also fabulous.
