My husband and I attended the Barking Frog during Seattle Restaurant Week. We were blown away by the appetizers, but we were unimpressed with the entree selection. We both ended up having Hanger Steak which felt chewy and fatty when eating it. The desserts were good, but we wouldn't have minded a simple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream to end our meal.

Went to the Barking Frog with friends to celebrate my wife's birthday. Going thru the extensive wine list it took three try's before they had a wine in stock all starting at $75.00 and above. The service was extremely slow and we felt several times we were forgotten and had to ask the busser to get someone to help us. We expected the food to be excellent only to find the soup and the prawn appetizers to be the best of anything. The main course was marginal at best cold under cooked and under seasoned. I had expected that the desserts would have been good but wrong again. Would have like coffee but never even got that.Truly disappointed in the whole evening.

My boyfriend and I have participated in a couple Restaurant Weeks before, including Portland, Charleston S.C., and Bellevue. When we saw that Barking Frog was participating in Seattle's, we were excited to have the opportunity to dine at such a popular restaurant. The overall experience was PERFECT. I could go on and on about how great the food was - my boyfriend and I were both completely floored, and talked about it all night. The flavors and textures were amazing throughout all 3 courses (and we were surprised by an intro hors d'oeuvres and small truffles at the end!) And the service was on-point: we were seated immediately, our waiter was great, and one staff member had the door ready for us upon our exit. Can't wait to go back!

Ufortunately, but true. The grilled pancetta and gruyere sandwich was poorly executed: cheese not melted, bacon, not pancetta and soft bread inside. Salmon a bit overdone. Too bad.

Had a lovely dinner during Restaurant Week. Never been here before and definitely will return. Incredible shrimp appetizer, outstanding steelhead for dinner. Beautiful rural setting. Even though we couldn't eat outside that night, I did check the "great for outdoor dining" since its setting was great! Service was incredible good and helpful. And the noise level, yes the noise level was perfect...lots of folks there but tables were separated with good distance and one could hear your tablemate(s) talk!!! A terrific find: outstanding food and great conversation!

I don't want to say that this is a bad restaurant, I just didn't enjoy the experience. We were given our choice of a large table to be seated with others, or in a corner on a bench seat next to a very bouncy child. The wine list is unnecessarily large, and hard to navigate. We found out the first bottle we chose was unavailable after 20 minutes of waiting. The second choice was nice. We were there for Rest week and had to pick our dessert at the beginning. The apple-parsnip soup and the shrimp were good appetizers. I enjoyed the Steelhead and my husband enjoyed the hanger steak. My husband said the pecan pie was fine, and I didn't like the presentation of the bread pudding and didn't have any of it. They did offer to replace it

Took my friend here for a birthday lunch...had mentioned in OpenTable's online reservation that it was her birthday celebration & when we were seated, she was presented with a birthday card from the Barking Frog, signed by different staff members! No singing, cheering, etc...just a lovely welcome & birthday greeting! Service was stellar & the food perfectly & beautifully prepared - LOVE this place!!!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary with dinner at Barking Frog. The food was all tremendous, and the service was attentive and friendly. We even had a happy anniversary card on our table, signed by the staff, and executive chef Bobby Moore came over to wish us happy anniversary. A truly lovely evening. Thank you Barking Frog.

We had the Fig and Pig and the Grand Marnier Shrimp on Friday at Willows Lodge. On Saturday when we went to the restaurant, we ordered the shrimp again...there was hardly any sauce, the breading was different (heavier), and the dressing on the salad was different as well. Our main courses were also lacking. I had the Scallops and my husband had the Pork Chop. His pork was great, my scallops were a bit under done, however we couldn't understand what all of the other stuff on the plate was, we are Napa Valley foodies, and were completely confused by all of the flavors. It was if they were trying too hard to be different. (PS another couple and they had the exact same experience as us, disappointing)

Had a business lunch at the Barking Frog on October 3rd. Service was outstanding and the food even better. Sea scallops on risotto with steamed carrots, LeEcole chardonnay. Never had better scallops and perfectly prepared risotto. House bread was delicious with a sun dried tomato spread and capers. Can't wait to get back for another meal.

We were staying at the beautiful Willow's Lodge for the weekend and I had gotten a "sip and savor" food & wine package, so we had a $200 credit to the Barking Frog. I had let the Lodge know it was my boyfriend's birthday, and they must have given the Barking Frog the heads up as well, and the whole staff was so inviting and friendly, wishing my boyfriend Happy Birthday multiple times. We had a great dinner -- his lamb was melt-in-your-mouth and my ahi tuna was cooked to perfection. Other highlights were the wagyu carpaccio and the creme brulee, and the Moscow Mules! We'll definitely be back, especially the next time we stay at Willow's!

I have been at The Barking Frog numerous times. The food is the best around. The wine list is excellent and the atmosphere is always relaxed and quiet. You can equally have a business lunch, a romantic dinner or a birthday celebration. One caution: If you like diet-coke bring you own since they only carry diet-pepsi.

Although the lunch menu appears merely interesting, e.g., a Reuben sandwich, the preparations are outstanding. Mussels, scallops, salads, the Reuben, whatever, were uniquely flavored. In fact the emphasis is on flavor although the presentation wasn't half bad as well. One is tempted to explore the entire lunch menu and come back for dinner. Which I'm sure we will do. Our wait persons were well versed on the nuances of the dishes and also had good recommendations from the wine list.

Exquisite wagyu carpaccio had the most amazing calamansi preserve to give it a zing! A tasty treat of pear and roasted nuts made our palettes happy between courses. He had the lamb, which is the best I've tasted in decades... or ever? I had the scallops, perfectly prepared, sweet, beautifully presented. This is food with thought, creativity, careful attention to ingredients, and passion. Our server was delightful and tolerated my date's teasing and goofiness. I can't imagine a lovelier meal.

We came here before a wedding at 1:00 on a Sunday. We were a party of 8 and were seated 15 minutes after or reservation time. The restaurant was about 1/3 full. The food was outstanding ad always, I had the shrimp appetizer as an entree and we had two orders of beignets which was plenty for all of us, very delicious. others had a delicious hamburger. We found everything wonderful including our busboy but the server really should find another line of work. She was in attentive and down right rude. I find we generally experience this if we have a group larger than 6 because the server will put on an 18-20% tip regardless which is a practice that needs to stop if it means larger tables get terrible service.

Dinner was wonderful. Service was fabulous. It's moderately expensive, and I find the interior lacks a certain intimacy. But over all, very enjoyable. Breakfast, not so much. Had issues getting seated. Hostess seemed scattered. Food, over cooked, dry and too many potatoes as filler. Stick with coffee and the beignets.

My wife and I we're hoping for a nice romantic anniversary. Instead it was disappointing. Extremely loud due to drunk patrons and the T- bone was smothered with some sort of overpowering sauce. We ordered the creme brule for dessert it was brutal. Odd flavor and runny. I will say the server was very helpful and pleasant.

I ordered an appetizer, the halibut entree, and a half bottle of wine. When the halibut arrived, the top half was cooked to perfection, but the bottom half was nearly raw. I pointed this out to the waiter who observed that yes, it was raw and said this should never happen. He promptly took the dish away to have a new one prepared. The manager came over (without my prompting) and apologized. He also said he was taking the half bottle of wine off my bill. Wow! Unfortunate that the dish was ill-prepared, but mistakes happen. This was a very nice recovery.

We've been here quite a few times. On this occasion went there for brunch. The Crab Benedict was great! The Croque Madame was underwhelming -- hardly any cheese on it. A sandwich should have two slices of bread not one. We barely saw our server and the place was not busy. The Barking Frog just doesn't seem special and unique anymore.

Just had flank steak salads. One had lots of blue cheese crumbles on top, the other didn't and a quick search through the salad didn't show any either, so sent it back. We could overhear the chef giving the server "attitude" about "it's inside" and she defended us with "but the other one has lots on top so they want some on this one too". We got it back nicely dressed with blue cheese. It was delicious.
