Barking FrogLIves up to hypeWe had oysters and fois appetizers followed by sirloin and lamb loin for dinner. The entire meal was outstanding, service was impeccable and the wine list was world class. I've seen the other reviews and the bottom line is don't come here if you can't or won't pay a premium for the very best. On the other hand, if you're one of those loaded local MSFT execs. or you want to impress your jaded friends (like me) then this is the place to come for dinner. Loved it!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual the food was wonderfulAs usual the food was wonderful and the staff very outgoing, courteous and prompt but not pushing. We have been to the restaurant many times but brought two couples with us that had not been there before. Everyone was pleased with their choices and were talking about when they would return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Burger in Woodinville...though I just had one there a few weeks ago so this time it was the scrambled eggs, bacon. All was great. Sat outside and enjoyed it.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDate night outing we loved! We had a lovely meal and really enjoyed sitting on the patio. The water feature, great weather, and quiet of the patio made for a great romantic evening. We loved the great food combined with the nice, but relaxed atmosphere. We liked the unique combinations or flavors in what we ordered- the sweet onion sorbet that came with the oysters, the avocado grapfruit black pepper and white chocolate parfait. We will definitely be going back. So nice to have a really nice place you don't need to go downtown to enjoy.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible VisitMy wife and I were there for our 24th Anniversary. We have been to the Willows before and have eaten at the Barking Frog prior to this also. The staff was amazing, the wine list was extensive (we were given assisstance selecting the perfect bottle) and the food was perfect. Thanks to the Willows and the Barking Frog for a wonderful weekend.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBarking FrogI took my wife and a friend to The Barking Frog for my wife's 40th birthday celebration and we couldn't have been more pleased. We first ate their for Valentine's Day 2012 and have wanted to return. Since it was mid-week it was not very crowded. Our waiter, Bill, was very knowledgeable and attentive and the food was excellent, as usual. We started with specialty cocktails and continued with selections from their extensive wine list throughout the evening. My wife and her friend both got the scallops and I got the beef tenderloin. All of it was excellent. The Barking Frog is always an excellent choice for fine, casual dining for any occasion.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love taking our out ofWe love taking our out of town guests here for lunch on a sunny day - and dine outdoors!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy Secretary DayI took my secretary and office manager there to celebrate office administrator day. Both loved it. Good food, reasonably priced. Got lucky and arrived on a sunny northwest day in May so we ate outside. I liked the brightness of being outside.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent All AroundMy wife and I enjoyed the food very much. Our server was excellent as she was knowledgable and candid. The Root Manhattan otherwise know as a Pennsylvania Dutch was unique and tasty. Good wine list and nice atmosphere. Definitely going back and looking forward to it. Ken4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and delectableA sleepy Monday afternoon, and a planned visit to the Barking Frog. The two of us old gals taking a friend on her first visit, and hoping the soup of the day would be one we had on a prior visit, the Potato Leek. To our total taste bud delight, we hit the jackpot and the Potato Leek was being served. We were delighted. The meal was terrific, and the wait staff gave us all the time we needed to eat and chat. Thank you Barking Frog for another great afternoon.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommend Barking FrogGreat brunch. We have gone to Barking Frog many times. Wonderful ambience, food and service. Warm and inviting atmosphere. The food never disappoints and the bar makes killer Bloody Marys. Will definitely return. Great experience.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always make the BarkingWe always make the Barking Frog a must for dinner when we visit the Seattle area. The staff is the best, the food is superior and always fresh. Let the staff recommend the wine. They are always spot on, and you get the adventure of trying a new wine that always compliments your dinner. The huckleberry pancakes for breakfast are to die for. You will not be disappointed.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis dining event was a treat. This dining event was a treat. Food was delicious and it was nice to sit outside by the water fountain on a rare sunny day.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Bobby and his crewAs always, Bobby and his crew did a fantastic job. The food was impressive -- both the salmon special and the scallops were done to perfection, the service was very good, resulting in another memorable experience. With so many great choices in the Seattle area, it's one of the few restaurant we return to again and again.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Barking Frog forWe went to Barking Frog for our 3rd year wedding anniversary, and I called them to mention that I'd be having a florist bring flowers on the afternoon before our reservation. But that was all I mentioned, making no other requests. However, the staff were amazing, aware of our anniversary, and spiriting our enjoyment with a gift from the staff, as well as writing 'Happy Anniversary!' in chocolate cursive writing on the dish of our dessert!
And the food itself was more than enough to convince us that we'll be returning. Soft and tender, succulent and flavorful, a feast of varieties both exquisite and delightful.
One final note is flexible. With a few allergies (dairy & mushroom), they were happy to adjust things to modify their menu.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBananas. Love BF! EverytimeBananas. Love BF! Everytime I go I love. It more and more. Food is incredible! Can't wait to go back!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were exceptional.Food and service were exceptional. Thought dining room was too loud, and wine prices were too high which is why I would not recommend or go back.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe made a reservation throughWe made a reservation through Open Table and even though the place was packed (last day of Restaurant Week) our table was ready on time. The appetizer and entree were delicious. My experience with dessert a few days previous, was that the salted caramel chocolate mousse was too salty. This time my lemon sorbet was too tart. I overheard the diner next to me make the same comment.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNice eveningWe came here during restaurant week and my husband and I both thought the selection was great in the entrees. They had wine paring if you wanted which is always a nice suggestion. Overall, the food, service and ambiance were outstanding.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Restaurant Week lunchGreat Restaurant Week lunch experience. We also paid an extra $15 for three wine pairings with our meal. great experience.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter hearing good reportsAfter hearing good reports about Barking Frog for several years, I had high expectations. And they were met and exceeded at the three-course $15 lunch. Superb food, good wine, excellent service and a pleasing Northwest elegant rustic ambiance.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was high qualityThe food was high quality but the portions were outrageously small! Two shrimps for the appetizer course(two!) main course consisted of five minuscule, almost the size of a quarter, cut "transparent style" pieces of tuna on top of half boiled potato with a tiny bit of green sauce and dessert, a tiny cake with a teaspoon jam and another teaspoon of whipped cream on top. I eat small portions in general ( I never overeat) but do not like to get up from the table hungry especially after we spent $107 for three people. Is this the practice at the Barking Frog (have people leave hungry after dinner in your restaurant) or were the portions so small because we paid $28 for a person (the promotion offer for the Seattle Restaurant Week)?4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Seattle Restaurant weekThe Seattle Restaurant week menu at the Frog was extraordinary this year. My wife and daughter raved about the salmon on polenta, and I have enjoyed the goat cheese ravioli twice; it is delicious! And we have particularly enjoyed our servers this year. Oh, and the pecan tartlet with vodka cream must be eaten with eyes closed to fully enjoy!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI was there at lunch and itI was there at lunch and it was fabulous, I will go back on a sunny day to sit on their lovely patio with the fountain. Great food, great wine pairing. A real treat.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant week menu wasThe restaurant week menu was excellent. I went on Monday and will be returning on Thursday.
The only negative was the salted caramel chocolate dessert was too heavily salted and the server never smiled or made us feel welcome.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBeyond expectationsI took my wife for dinner on her birthday and they went far and beyond expectations in order to accommodate us. I had flowers delivered to our table and they were there when we arrived. The entire meal was delicious and their wines are just great!
Can't wait to get back and enjoy another great meal since they pay attention to each and little detail I could think of, I really had a great time.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways love eating there:Always love eating there: Nathan, our bartender and server is really great!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMToo Close For ComfortAlthough striking, the small dining area had so many little tables close together that it felt claustrophobic. Otherwise, the food was elegant and the service (Michael) outstanding.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMan extra pleasant surprise....asan extra pleasant surprise....as good as we have had anywhere over the last few years...loved it..4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was fantastic. Our server was fantastic. She knew just when we needed more bread or more wine. Her timing for everything we needed was perfect.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHave I eaten here quite aHave I eaten here quite a few times and it has always been great. My daughter and I had the three course restaurant week lunch recently. Outstanding. Especially for $15. J Jung4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BEST! Every dish was incrediblyThe BEST! Every dish was incredibly delicious and had surprising twists. What an exciting and satisfying experience.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for foodiesGreat place for upscale, interesting food. Great service from knowledgeable staff. Great wine list. Don't miss the champagne prawns!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWow! Went for Seattle restaurantWow! Went for Seattle restaurant week and we were not disappointed!!! Food was fantastic and portions were more than enough. Our server was a delight. Will definitely come back!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat 3-course menu suitedGreat 3-course menu suited everyone at our table. Even the vegetarians. The wine pairings were excellent too.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! We dined here for Restaurant Week and had a great experience. Two of my dinner companions had been there before, but this was my first time. Our server was GREAT, very helpful and had great suggestions. We had two bottles of wine, ordered an appetizer to share from the regular menu (mussels! yum!) and then chose from the fixed menu. I would definitely come here again, especially for a special occasion.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSecret hidden gem.Servers very professional, no "My name is... I am your server" which seems like a canned greeting. They were sincere. They were well informed regarding the ingredients in each dish. The food was beautiful presented. The cocktail menu was fantastic, lot of interesting combinations.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe special waffle with prosciuttoThe special waffle with prosciutto and goat cheese was amazing. The brunch bread with house made apple butter was also great!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant for dinner.Great restaurant for dinner. Food is delicious and the service is right on. Pretty extensive wine list (+ full bar) too. They have a big garden patio that I bet is great for outside dining in the warmer months. Went for breakfast the next morning (we were staying in the hotel) and I wasn't as impressed (service wasn't on par and the food consistency was lacking - my wife's plate easily had twice the potatoes as mine). Stick with dinner and you won't be disappointed.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFor foodiesWe stayed at Willows Lodge so had dinner and brunch here. It is pricey but worth it for special occasion. It was my husband's 50th and he is big foodie, loves to cook and he was very happy. He had scallops that melted in your mouth. The server was spectacular, outstanding and very we'll versed about the menu and wine list. I had the duck, it was good not amazing. The brunch was delicious but really expensive. I would definitely go again.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great time at BarkingWe had a great time at Barking Frog. Our brunch was very good - excellent duck biscuits and gravy! The Bloody Marys that we ordered were good, but I would rather have less stuff crammed into the glass and more actual bloody mary. Our one disappointment was that they were not starting the Seattle Restaurant week until dinner...we loved brunch, but actually came for the special. But overall, a great time! We will be back.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great - fish a tadFood was great - fish a tad bit on the salty side. Service was attentive.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I celebratedMy husband and I celebrated our 4th anniversary at the Barking Frog last weekend and had an incredible experience. The food was incredible - one of the best meals we've had in a long time. Both of our meals were perfectly cooked (halibut and duck) and the service was fantastic. The wine list was extensive and our server knew it well. As many others say in reviews, the wine is great because it's all local NW wine which is what should be served in Woodinville. I had put a note on my Open Table reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and when they brought out our dessert, they noted it on the plate which was a really nice touch. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have found Barking FrogWe have found Barking Frog to be the perfect brunch, lunch and dinner location when we are in Woodinville. The food is always excellent and service is friendly and consistent.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMEaster Brunch Hit!Our annual Easter brunch visit. Had a wonderful meal! My crab benedict was fabulous, with lots of crab and hardly any fillers. My husband had the corn beef hash and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. The weather was wonderful so the view to the outside deck was terrific!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways fabulous!Barking Frog is one of our favorite local gems. And we love Gina, one of the best servers around. Were always suprised she remembers us even when we haven't been there in months.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, but NoisyThe Barking Frog is a wonderful gem of a restaurant in the Sammamish Valley--the good is great, the service very good, and the wine list features Washington State wines (it's about time somebody did that!). The only negative to a great evening is that it's so noisy that it's hard to have an intimate conversation. The dining room is created with ALL reflective surfaces, so the noise bounces off every wall and the celiing. Tables are also just a little too wide for an intimate conversation, jgiven the background noise. They could "dampen" the room in some creative ways that would enhance the dining experience, in my book.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMdined during the 3 for $30dined during the 3 for $30 event. Food was good but not great. Menu was slightly flat. dishes lacked depth of flavor. Service was exceptional, and they have a great wine list,3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were very impressed withWe were very impressed with the Barking Frog Restaurant.
We had been encouraged to use "OpenTable" as a reservation service and were unsure that a 'same day late hour' reservation would be available.
Not only was our reservation honored by the Barking Frog but was confirmation within 5 minutes!
The restaurant atmosphere is polished yet warm & inviting. Our dinners were wonderful, especially considering the late hour.
All staff with whom we spoke were knowledgeable, friendly and efficient, especially our waiter who maintained great timing and a good sense of humor while serving us :)
We would also like to thank Rochelle from the Willows Lodge lounge for her never failing
upbeat mood, fun conversation, and well made pre-dinner drinks3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA must go to placeThere are two things one can ask for and expect from Barking Frog; exceptional service and food! We received both! We dined at this fine establishment during Dine around Seattle this week. Our friends were also celebrating their wedding anniversary, so we each received a complimentary appetizer of the fabulous deep fried shrimp! A pleasant surprise!
Wonderful ambiance as well. A place to take out of town guests and for a night out in the town for us locals!
thank you!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
