Barclay PrimeVery Nice Dinner, Very ExpensiveThe service was appropriately cordial and attentive -- the staff are well trained professionals and do a great job. The complimentary popovers were a hit. All of our dishes came out quickly and the steaks were prepared properly. The sliders were excellent and the I recommend the truffled whipped potatoes as a side dish. The creamed spinach was a bit on the bland side. The food & service better be excellent for these prices. Expect to pay ~$80-100 per person not necessarily including drinks. The wine list was very extensive, but again the prices are very high and it was somewhat difficult to pick a bottle of wine that was going to be very good w/out spending over $100. Will plan to revisit for very special "splurge" occasions only.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ordered crab meat for anWe ordered crab meat for an app, which was very good, fillet mignon ad Bronzino. Fillet was medium-rare as desired but not juicy at all. Fish was delicious and of a decent size. Place seemed a little louder than a usual fine-dining restaurant. Overall, a great experience and a fun night.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfullWonderful as usual! The server gets A+++++ for going out of her way to find the wine we had last time we dine there we couldn't remeber. Thanks again5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experienceMy wife and I agree this was the best meal we both have ever eaten. The ribeye is unbelievable! Best steak bar none and we are from the KC area and know our beef. Perfect!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLove me some PrimeI have been to Barclay prime may times. Every experience has been phenomenal. The atmosphere is light and classy. The food is rich and delicious. Located in Rittenhouse square, the restaurant is easy to find, easy to get to, and right in the heart of a great area to make an evening. The menu allows you to tailor your own experience and enjoy a slow easy night out.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest steakhouseEasily the best steakhouse I've ever been to. It even put Starr's Butcher & Singer to shame. I got the lobster bisque, wedge salad with BOTH dressings and bacon substituted for crab. Next we ordered an 18 ounce ribeye and an 8 ounce wagyu filet. Paired with truffle whipped potatoes and truffle baked Mac and cheese I was just blown away.
And I won't even begin to talk about their spectacular rolls - god only knows what went into them.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFloridaThe steaks are the best. We look forward to visiting our daughter in Philly(we live in Florida) so we can dine here. This tome we tried the lobster with the steak, but found the lobster to be tough . We will be back, but will only order the steaks. Service wa excellent.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful. This is our favorite place. Never disappoints. Plan for a long evening. Take your time, allow the servers to do their job. Make it a many hour evening. The chairs and couches that you dine on are very comfortable and promote a long dinner stay. Bring plenty of cash because a dinner for 4, with tip and everything that comes with dinner can hit $1,000 easy.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a wonderful experienceAlways a wonderful experience at Barclays. The Kobe strip was fantastic. The service was exceptional.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMJust PerfectHosted a dinner hear for a major customer and my upper management here 2 nights ago. Honestly the best meal I've ever had in my life!
From the beet salad, to the martinis, to the pop over bread, sides and of course the filet, it just got better and better. I'll definitely return next time I'm in Philly.
The entire party was thrilled, so mission accomplished!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBarclay Prime is simply theBarclay Prime is simply the best steakhouse in Philadelphia. Likely my favorite Starr restaurant. Dining room is elegant and comfortable. Service is always top notch. My scallop starter was excellent. The popovers are always a tempting carb favorite of mine. My fillet was cooked precisely as ordered and is as good a quality beef as I have found in any restaurant. My date and dining companion was duly impressed by the experience. He raved about his main choice--the seared Tuna. My only quibble with BP is the wine prices are quite high--but if you are on a splurge or expense account, BP is the place.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Fanulous dinner!I have never been disappointed @ BP. Again, we celebrate my birthday. Oysters, lamb chops, those @ the table had filet, lobster bisque, shrimp cocktail & chopped sakad. Wait staff was good, little slow with drinks & I don't think they should give you a look when you order a glass of the house merlot instead of an expensive glass on their wine list. But everything was excellent! Love the funky but classic vibe. You get what you pay for, consistently great food, great atmosphere & service. I'm ready to make my next reservation! BP was always be one if my favorites. (Ps-they should serve a sauce with the lamb chops, just a suggestion) they brought out 2 beautiful desserts on the house, plus the one that we ordered. Very nice touch.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWait staff is excellent. JamesWait staff is excellent. James was wonderful, very attentive and friendly4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place - not superb....$35 corkage fee is a bit unreasonable for glass stems instead of crystal. Charging $3 for steak sauce is insulting. Conversation volume is loud enough given the high ceilings - combine that with the loud music and it is overwhelming! Our aged, prime NY strips were not as good as other high-end steak restos in the area.
Aside from my cons - the apps, other entrees and most of all the service was worth the price of admission.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFelt our waiter was rushingFelt our waiter was rushing us to order. Trying to spend some time with my Kids and talk, and kept asking if we are ready to order. Probably 5 times.Food was good.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMthe food and service are alwaysthe food and service are always top shelf. its that dining room and those tables and chairs that really annoy me. compared to the best steak houses in the city, its just not that comfortable....awkward seating. I think. The bar is also small and dark.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and fun atmosphere.Great service and fun atmosphere. Food was good but didn't "wow" us like one would expect for the price. But Stephen Starr restaurants are often like that, so we weren't that surprised.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, needs more personalityThe hostess who checked us in was somewhat preoccupied which explains why we were reported as no-shows to open table. This first impression lingers. However, our server, Eleni, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive. My lamb chops, though very pricey, were absolutely perfect, the best I've had in this area. My husband's filet was also very, very good. The asparagus was good, the brussel sprouts were too sweet. The homemade ice cream we had for dessert was wonderful. They put a candle on my husband's since it was his birthday and gave us a small chocolate cake to take home, a nice gesture.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMa memorable mealMy husband and I recently dined here to celebrate a special wedding anniversary. While the Caesar salad was a bit disappointing, all the other dishes were excellent. I ordered a fillet and it was cooked beautifully with a mildly peppery crust. My husband and I agreed that the baked potato was the best either of us had ever tasted. Asparagus were cooked just right and served with a lovely side of hollandaise sauce. My husband's halibut was superb. The wait staff was terrific--helpful with a warm sense of humor. We knew the bill would be on the pricey side, but were willing to pay for such a special occasion and such special service. The restaurant was very comfortable with cushy chairs and nice lighting. Unfortunately it was drafty.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious food, fantasticdelicious food, fantastic service and presentation, waitstaff very attentive. expensive, but worth it for the food/experience. special occasion place only.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFun, festive & fabulous!Fantastic! Fun energy with a great aesthetic. Cosmo was just O.K. Caesar was classically good. New York strip was excellent. Brussel sprouts were a unique preparation with horseradish - really good! And the best Carrot Cake we've ever enjoyed accompanied by ginger ice cream. Really vibrant & fun atmosphere. Another Starr restaurant group winner!!!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is top of the lineThis place is top of the line all the way. Don't go on a budget, because you will pay! But the food, service, and ambiance is worth it all. Definitely a step up over Mortons, Capital Grille, etc.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an amazing time andWe had an amazing time and Glenn was one of the best servers we had ever experienced in all of our dining experiences.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasion placeFantastic food (which, it should be, for that price) and great service. The only thing is the chairs/tables are kind of strange for the food and interior, both of which are very classy. The furniture kind of looks like it is out of a diner, which doesn't really go with the chandeliers and low lighting. The chairs are heavy, so you have to stand up to adjust them, and the tables are so heavy as to be unmovable, which is problematic if you're sitting in the bench seats and the table is to far away. Plus, the very large man at the table next to us spent his entire meal twisting his chair back and forth (they spin) and it squeaked like a frog...over, and over, and over, and over.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic appetizers, steakFantastic appetizers, steak and dessert! One of the best meals I've had in Philly. Very expensive however, and they charge you for everything (e.g., sauce for your steak is $3 extra).3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom Appetizers to DesertFrom Appetizers to Desert - Delectable with impeccable service by Curtis!
Will power needed not to fill up on their Asiago dinner rolls!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was spectacular. WhatFood was spectacular. What an amazing experience. Server talked way too much and made a couple of mistakes, but that did not deter from a great time.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood fit for Royalty...Although not expensive, you do get what you paid for. This is a dining experience that you will not soon forget. The Sunday Brunch is also truly special. You will most likely not find all of the foods at any other establishment. Plain and simple - there is not much better dining in the area...if any!3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best steak and crab cakeThe best steak and crab cake I have ever tasted. Loved it. From the moment we walked in the door.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMvery good food with creativevery good food with creative touches and outstanding service.2/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
