A word from BARcelona Tapas - Indianapolis
BARcelona Tapas prides itself on creating a traditional authentic Tapas Bar atmosphere. This includes a warm decor and the traditional hanging of Serrano hams and dried bacalaos. The service reflects a traditional tapas experience as you might find in Madrid, Barcelona or Sevilla. Small plates of food are prepared to order and delivered one or two at a time, as to encourage sharing of the plates and conversation together with great Sangria.

Barcelona Tapas Indianapolis is an open air restaurant when the weather is nice! Come and enjoy one of our two large patios or sit at the bar and enjoy a breeze through the restaurant on warm summer days.

Diner Reviews
  • "I am never disappointed with this place. I love going here with friends, coworkers, family... the food is always fresh and amazing. This time I sat outside for the first time, it was very nice, they have a covered dining area that is perfect."

  • "My spouse and I went here for a romantic dinner and, while not disappointed, we left a bit underwhelmed. The red sangria was great on the hot summer night we dined here, but the food was a bit heavy. They seem to rely a lot on frying foods in thick batters and adding cheeses and mayo-based, super heavy sauces that left us feeling too full and groggy after a couple of courses. We would have liked to have a couple of more courses, but just could not do it because of the first couple heavy courses."

  • "My wife and I have been to Spain many times and the Tapas at BARcelona could match any we have had in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, and many other cities we have visited. We were surprised to learn that the chef was not a Spanish native and that the entire kitchen staff is American, but trained by a Spanish Chef. Well they learned well! The service was also excellent! We will definitely return on our next trip to Indianapolis."

  • "Six of us had tappas before attending a show at the Murat and it was great food in a good walking location to the Mass Ave./ Murat scene."

  • "This was my 1 year anniversary dinner with my girlfriend, the staff was so incredibly polite and we just an amazing time there! We will probably be back next year for our 2 year anniversary! They were so nice in face they gave us dessert for free because it was our anniversary!"
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Had a great anniversary here! Looking forward to coming here more. The sangria is awesome, and the tapas are awesome!"

  • "We dined at BARcelona Tapas on a recent trip to Indianapolis, and were very pleased that we happened upon this restaurant. The food was very tasty, the service good, and the atmosphere enjoyable. If ever in Indy again...we'll make a point to come back."

  • "This was our first time to Barcelona. It was a birthday celebration for a party of six. First of all, the items on the menu were varied in type and taste. Every tapas dish was delicious and appeared to have been prepared individually. Nothing sitting under a heat light. Also, the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Overall a great experience! We'll go again."

  • "Took my mom for her 51st birthday dinner, she had never been. Delicious as usual. "

  • "I found the restaurant through the web site and made reservations online. Received an immediate confirmation. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with a great sense of humor. We loved the portions and the selection of foods. Will highly highly recommend this place to any Illinois friends who visit Indy."

  • "Small plates, many options, reasonable prices , good service, casual ambience"

  • "Great food, quick & attentive service. Took a group of people who had never enjoyed Tapas and we had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the food at BARcelona!"
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "Good service, ok food, the Tres Leches dessert was the best one I've ever had though."
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "The price for the brunch was jacked up to $27.95 instead of the normal $16.95 (It was Mother's Day so I guess they wanted to stick it to the kids?) and that was the only option so it was way overpriced! The server was about as unfriendly as they get. Food was tasty as usual, however, I was very disappointed in the overall experience. We weren't actually even there celebrating Mother's Day, but rather my daughter's graduation from college."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "The food was great and the set up was perfect to try numerous different dishes. The sangria was also very good. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time celebrating her birthday!"

  • "Delightful food, super service, and wonderful white Sangria!"

  • "Took a friend out for a late birthday dinner on a Friday evening. It was a little too chilly to sit outside but that area seems enticing. Nice ambiance, very well decorated. Felt the Spanish decorum was authentic. Our food was great. Loved the goat cheese tapas. Pork and Beef dishes were SLIGHTLY overcooked past our medium request. Very loud but it was that "happy hour" time so it was expected. Server may have gotten busy as it took awhile for our sausage plate to arrive. Either way a great experience to try new and exciting foods! "

  • "My friend and I went to Barcelona Tapas after a play downtown. We sat inside, but with the doors open, it was lovely. The food was fantastic. We were huge fans of the fried artichokes and the meatballs. Plus, they have the best tres leches cake I've ever had. It is simply sinful! "

  • "I was so excited to find BARcelona Tapas after living in Spain for 4 months! From what I tried, the tapas are great and love the drink menu, but I have to say that the paella was a bit disappointing. It was good, but nothing like real paella. I will definitely be back for more tapas and sangria though! Love the atmosphere!! "

  • "While in town for a convention this weekend, found this place on open table, saw good reviews, and decided I would take my folks to their first tapas restaurant. We tried 7-8 small plates between the 3 of us, off the top of my head I remember the mussels, the meatballs, the sausage platter, the calamari, the asparagus, and the beef (brisket?) on a skewer. Service was excellent, our waitress was very attentive and explained everything to my folks. Would definitely eat here again!"

  • "Our first time here for the Easter Sangria Brunch and we thoroughly enjoyed it. A huge buffet, good service and one free glass of sangria for a reasonable price. "
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "Our family came here for Easter brunch and we were pleasantly surprised! Many small plate offerings on the brunch buffet as well as more traditional brunch buffet fare, cheeses and meats, seafood , and a variety of desserts. White or red sangria included! We will return!"

  • "Great food! Excellent Service! Wonderful experience."

  • "I've been going to Barcelona Tapas for about 4 years and have never had a bad experience! This place always satisfies. This past visit Bryce was our server and he was truly wonderful. His service was friendly and efficient! I always recommend this hot spot to friends and family and will continue to do so!"

  • "We had been looking forward to experiencing this restaurant. Made a pre- concert reservation and found the restaurant to be fairly grungy - sticky, grimy menus, noisy and not what expected. The tapas were extremely disappointing! We ordered crispy artichokes that were deep fried morsels accompanied by what tasted like plain mayo. The ahi tuna on greens portion was extremely tiny for $11.95. Worst was the beef tenderloin that was grisly and tough. Both my husband and I had to spit out pieces that were inedible. Check that one off the list."

  • "Sunday brunch buffet and menu items are the best. Chef Matt and staff were excellent. I would recommend Barcelona to anyone."
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "This was my first visit to a "small plate" restaurant. Each dish was different from the others making it a taste bud adventure."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "Food quality is consistently good, service is friendly and quick, while not feeling rushed. We like going here with groups - it is great to share many dishes, linger over a few sangrias and have a nice relaxed but fun dinner. Prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere is great for a fun evening with friends. The spicy tomato dip with goat cheese is my favorite dish by far!"

  • "This was a creative tapas restaurant with a wide-ranging menu of unusual ingredient mixes. I would return next time I'm in Indy."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Unfortunately for BARcelona, we have had too many great experiences at Chicago area tapas restaurants. Food was just ok. They do have a decent wine list. Service (John) was very good."
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "The menu sounded good, the dishes lacked flavor. Best recommendations are the garlic shrimp, the tenderloin with spinach, and the goat cheese in tomato sauce - while none were 4-star worthy, they were passable. everything else we ordered lacked "tapas" spice profile and even salt and pepper? summary: a little more fun than going to the freezer for pre-made empanadas."
    Dined on 3/17/2014
  • "Stopped for a pre Pacer's game light meal and lucked into bar menu specials. $3 small plates. Really liked the goat cheese, calamari and artichoke hearts - would try something different next time just for the variety."
    Dined on 3/17/2014
  • "Paella presented as excellent however two of us who ordered it found it bland, virtually tasteless. Some other dishes, e.g., broccolini, fared better. Ambiance: lively, crowded, too noisy for our table of 8 to hear everyone in our group, but not unpleasant - people were haveing a good time."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "My husband and I had been to Barcelona Tapas before, but we had never taken our picky 9 year old. We were worried that he would turn his nose up at the unusual food. My husband wanted to go there for his birthday, so we decided to give it a try. We were surprised that once we got him to taste the offerings, he liked nearly all of the 7 different selections we made, and he loved the creme brule for dessert!"
    Dined on 3/11/2014
  • "Food was delicious. We split 6 tapas and were full."

  • "We stopped at this restaurant on a whim. Our intended destination had been closed for a private event. We secured an OpenTable reservation and gave it a chance. We were not disappointed. The restaurant was vibrant and cozy. The range of dishes offered was perfect. They had a good selection without being completely overwhelming. I would return and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Tapas or is looking to try it for the first time."

  • "This really does give you a feel for a spanish tapas bar. Although the tapas are larger than you would expect in Spain, the flavors are excellent. Huge mixed olive bowl. Great spanish tortilla, empanadas, and interesting fried avocado. My wife and I really liked to option for a carafe of wine rather than simply by the glass or whole bottle. A really fun introduction to Indianapolis. Easy walk from downtown hotels."
