A word from BARcelona Tapas - Indianapolis
BARcelona Tapas prides itself on creating a traditional authentic Tapas Bar atmosphere. This includes a warm decor and the traditional hanging of Serrano hams and dried bacalaos. The service reflects a traditional tapas experience as you might find in Madrid, Barcelona or Sevilla. Small plates of food are prepared to order and delivered one or two at a time, as to encourage sharing of the plates and conversation together with great Sangria.

Barcelona Tapas Indianapolis is an open air restaurant when the weather is nice! Come and enjoy one of our two large patios or sit at the bar and enjoy a breeze through the restaurant on warm summer days.

On a recent business trip to Indy, four of us went to Barcelona on a local Indy resident recommendation. The food was average. The wine list was below average. The servers were all young, inexperienced and uneducated in regards to the menu. The ambience is non-existent. This looks like a cheesy Mexican joint.

The food and service was outstanding as always. The only drawback was that our group was placed in the private dining room, which is just really loud. Another group was placed in there with us and by then you could not even hear the person next to you.

The food was bad, but not as bad as the service. We ordered the devour special. All courses were delivered within a few minutes. Our table was full of plates of poorly prepared food. The server was reluctant to respond to our requests for additional drinks, condiments, removal of empty plates etc . We will not recommend or return.

The asparagus with manchengo cheese was cooked perfectly. The garlic pepper wings with sherry aioli were fantastic. Also had the patatas bravas and curried chicken salad which were also great. The goat cheese and marinara was good, but not amazing. Loved the carmel filled churros though! The white sangria was also very tasty. Our waiter was helpful and everyone was well aware and considerate of my severe tree nut allergy which allowed me to relax and enjoy my meal. All in all a great experience. We will be back.

No complaints! The food is always great! The only suggestion is maybe somehow in the future re-configuring the hostess station. If your sitting at that first booth you stare at a lot of butts during your meal and feel crowded out with people waiting to be sat.

My husband and I went there for a Devour Downtown 2014 dinner and put ourselves in the hands of our waitress. It was wonderful and her choices were perfect. My least favorite, even though it was still good, was the curried chicken salad. After that the goat cheese, asparagus, sautéed mushrooms, shrimp and chorizo paella, and churros were perfect. Loved it! Best of all, they make a great Caipirinha.

If you're looking for a fun and unique place to go for dinner, this is the place. The baked goat cheese with spicy tomato sauce is one of the best items on the menu! If you've never been to a tapas place, it's small amounts of food that you share. Give it a try! I Highly recommend you go!

We had a group of six women from work and had an awesome time! Service was great, food was delicious and there was plenty to go around! We took advantage of the "Devour Downtown" event and it was 2 people for $35, which we felt was reasonable for the amount of food we ended up with. We had leftovers that we took home and all went home full! We will definitely keep this on our list for ladies' night out in the future.

When we arrrived we were overlooked while later tables were waited on. I had to speak with the person who sat us to let them know we have been forgotten. Later a server arrived carrying glasses of ice water which she accidentally spilled in my lap (forcing us to move to another table). Not an auspicious start to the evening. None-the-less, this was our 4th visit and the food was great. We did the Devour Downtown menu which was excellent. We brought 2 guests who had never been before and they really liked it. We will be back -- the food has always been fantastic. Next time I will wear a rain coat until after water is served.

Our first time at a Tapas-style restaurant. Waitress was very helpful in helping us gauge portion-size. For 2 people, we ordered 3 tapas, 1 entrée, and 1 dessert and were pleasantly full. All the food was good - especially liked the chicken/ham croquettes. Felt the price was a little high for the tapas, based on the portion size, though. I know that the point of tapas is to try several, but just getting 3 is more expensive than getting a meal (and one of them was just a basket of garlic bread). The Tres Leches cake is fantastic. I'd certainly go here again, but more as a special occasion rather than a regular place to go.

We were a business group of 12 out for dinner and most had never tried a Tapas restaurant before or even understood the process. After a bit of uncertainty about who orders what we ended up getting a huge amount of food which was sampled and passed around. Everyone had a terrific time and enjoyed the variety and casual aspect to the process. The food was very good and our server was outstanding.

Post Indy MotoGP was looking for something good. Opentable reviewers recommended as fit for foodies. I enjoyed the food. I probably would not rate as fit for foodies. Tapas menu is typical. Their gazpacho was "rustic" style with a good amount of spice to make it interesting. Fried Tres Leches dessert was different and the serving huge. I could not finish but enjoyed the texture. The frying dried the cake out a bit.

This is a noisy fun place, but not so loud that you have to yell or anything. We were seared in a room with two bachelorette parties everyone seem to be having a great time. I love the tapas concept! It is so fun to have small plates of so many different delicious things! Surf and turf, empanadas, mussles, ham and cheese, calamari! All delicious. The bartender was excellent- Bloody Mary perfection to start, mohito-for dessert!

It's definitely a good place to eat but some things were unexpected. The amount of time for food to arrive was longer than expected. My husband was getting the dinner portion of toros "skewers" and was warned it would take about 30-35mins for his dinner to arrive. So we changed it to the smaller version because we were hungry. It STILL took over 30 mins to arrive, without the warning. The bread pudding is LITERALLY slices of bread cut into triangles, dipped in their pudding mixture, and covered with caramel and powered sugar. It was disappointing. However, the other food items were yummy.

My spouse and I went here for a romantic dinner and, while not disappointed, we left a bit underwhelmed. The red sangria was great on the hot summer night we dined here, but the food was a bit heavy. They seem to rely a lot on frying foods in thick batters and adding cheeses and mayo-based, super heavy sauces that left us feeling too full and groggy after a couple of courses. We would have liked to have a couple of more courses, but just could not do it because of the first couple heavy courses.

My wife and I have been to Spain many times and the Tapas at BARcelona could match any we have had in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, and many other cities we have visited. We were surprised to learn that the chef was not a Spanish native and that the entire kitchen staff is American, but trained by a Spanish Chef. Well they learned well! The service was also excellent! We will definitely return on our next trip to Indianapolis.
