Diner Reviews
  • "The food was underwhelming. I should have paid attention to reviews that said it was bland. Seriously. No flavor. Tapas were pedestrian. Steak was a poor cut and totally lacking in anything to recommend it. I wasn't going to complain but I had to take a call and while I was away from the table my husband did. The manager came over and while I was pretty much over the whole experience and just wanted to leave she basically forced me to get something else. It was uncomfortable although I know she was trying to make amends. Oh. And the server essentially said it was my fault for not understanding the cut of meat I ordered. Uh? Thanks for that?"

  • "My child does not like just any food, so we go around town and try new 4 to 5 star restaurants. The place is pretty and the food ok, but they treated us terrible. My daughter wanted a dessert from a specialty menu, and the manager told our waiter " absolutely no" about purchasing the dessert from the specialty menu alone. We spent $250.00 in dinner for 3, but we could " absolutely not" have a dessert from a $30.00 set menu. Poor service, they dont know how to do business."

  • "I have lived in Columbus, OH for three years and after trying many of the best restaurants in this city, I have not found a better overall fine dining experience. Whether dining here for business dinners or making a spur of the moment decision to dine with a date, I have always enjoyed an excellent meal and a good memory."

  • "The atmosphere of the bar was very nice. However, after being seated and looking at our menus it took 25 minutes before anybody came to ask us what we would like to order. The salad I had was nice and the entree was decent. The dessert that I chose was the chocolate espresso flan. It was not up to par in my opinion. The texture was very rubbery and there was very very little flavor."

  • "We were so happy to see a printed "Happy Anniversary" on the cover page of our menu! It made us feel like they had planned to host us and were pleased to do so in a very special way - offered us Champagne at the end of the night but we were delightfully full from a delicious meal. Thank you - we will be back!"

  • "A group of friends and made reservations here after discovering 614 Magazine's Restaurant Week. There is quite a bit of local hype about Barcelona and I'm pleased to say, the hype is not unwarranted. The food was everything we hoped for and the atmosphere was elegant. It was a fine dining experience. The Restaurant Week special included a small menu selection. We'll most likely come back to try the full menu in the future."

  • "I took my girlfriend on date during this past restaurant week. Upon arrival, we requested a seat on the patio and was informed we had to wait till a table opened up. As we were lead on to the patio, I realized it was worth the wait. The ambiance was great! It’s one of the best patios in Columbus. We both ordered from the Restaurant Week menu and was delighted by what we got. The starters were tasty and sufficient. I highly encourage you to order the goat cheese stuffed avocado if they have it. Our entrees were large and filling. I had the Cerdo which was one of the better pork loins I have ever had. Desert was indeed another palate pleasing experience. For the price, it’s hard to beat. We got a lot of great food for a great price."

  • "Barcelona did not live up to the hype for myself and 3 guests. It could have been due to restaurant week but that should be when restaurants are trying to impress new customers. The Prix fixe menu looked good on paper but was not that great. The fried artichoke hearts were bland the the playing of the dish was lacking. The seafood stew was quite good, although slightly overcooked. Our bread was hard and a little overcooked. I am willing to give it another try specifically for the paella but this first experience was nothing special. I will say the patio is quite nice."

  • "While we didn't feel the restaurant week menu was "tapas style", the food was EXCELLENT. We sat outside and the garden was just so charming and beautiful. We will definitely be coming back!"

  • "Excellent is the only word to use for Barcelona. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. My first time but definitely not the last!"

  • "We truly enjoyed our dining experience at Barcelona. We had never been before and the good was amazing! Service was excellent and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. We went there during restaurant week and I was concerned it may be too busy but it was not, it seems they handled reservations very well. Highly recommend!"

  • "We were at Barcelona for Restaurant Week. My Zarzuela was excellent and brought back taste memories of my time in Spain decades ago. The underlying flavor reminded me of the fresh gazpacho I loved there some four decades back. The selection of Spanish wines was great. We settled on a superb Tempranillo Rioja (Finca Allende 2005) that really delivered the taste. The heavy fruity tones matched up well with both my wife's beef dish and my Zarzuela."

  • "There is no better location for lunch or dinner than Barcelona's patio! Our specific outing was for a dear friend's 40th birthday lunch and it was lovely. The patio was beautiful and we sat under an umbrella next to the fountain. It couldn't have been nicer."

  • "Food and service were outstanding! The waitress was pleasant and helpful. The menu was varied which was another positive. The drink menu was so extensive it took a long time to make our selections, though it was great to have so many options."

  • "The menu is always fresh and exciting. I love the choices and the great oattentive staff. I have been to Barcelona on several occasions and have never been disappointed."

  • "I love paella and I love short ribs - I thought this would be a marriage made in heaven for lunch - especially at one of my very favorite restaurants. But I walked away a bit disappointed. Perhaps it was my perception of how it was going to taste that really disappointed me. The saffron rice was perfect, the short ribs were perfect - but oh how I missed the carrots and lima beans and the wonderful kick of chorizo. All in all, not a good marriage of flavors for me. But I like to live on the spicy side. But, all was not a loss! The molten chocolate cake with ice cream, whipped cream and strawberry completely delivered! Yummm!"

  • "The only complaint was about the Barcelona paella. Two people ordered it and it seemed a little dry. May be best to ask the waiter before ordering."

  • "My wife & I went to Barcelona this weekend. I ordered a rib-eye special. After 15 minutes, the server came back with another round of drinks and commented of her own volition that I had the last rib-eye. Unfortunately, 5 minutes afterwards she came back out to apologize; there were no more rib-eyes. Not sure what happened in the interim, but clearly something was miscommunicated earlier. They offered another cut of meat, which was flavorless when it arrived. However, the manager was overly apologetic, volunteered to take the meal off the check, and provided free coffee and deserts to my wife and I. Things happen, so I wasn't too upset, especially after the manager did the right thing and saved me from making a fuss about the bill."

  • "To say I was disappointed with the food is putting it mildly. The "tapas" were barely enough for 1 person. They charge over $7 for a plate of extremely thin cut cold cuts & call it a tapa. HA! The true outrageous disappointment was the paella. We had the paella Barcelona which included everything (chicken, shrimp, calamari, mussels, peas, red pepper, and chorizo. A true paella has to have saffron ("azafran")... & it didn't. The supposed home-made chorizo "a la European" is a bunch of crock. It spoiled everything & it didn't taste a thing to what it's supposed to. OK place but won't go back. Only real good thing is service. So, I'm still in search of a REAL Spanish restaurant. Oh yeah... ensalada de papas should be patatas.... so burros!!!!"

  • "Barcelona never disappoints. The staff are knowledgable and friendly; timely and attentive. The outdoor patio is great all year round and accommodating for a mid sized group or intimate date. I've never had a menu item I didn't like and food is ALWAYS fresh. Their lunch menu is pleantiful and they have several offerings to vegetarians! It's a tasty, quaint, classy, lovely neighborhood gem for sure!"

  • "We've eaten at Barcelona many times and usually love it. For some reason, while everything *else* (e.g. the atmosphere, the service, etc.) was as good as ever, the food was somewhat - lacking. It was a Sunday, and I suspect the sous-chef's were running the show - I ordered the Cerdo, and was very disappointed - the potatoes were actually sorely undercooked, and the romesco as well as the pork shank were somewhat bland and under-seasoned. I was quite surprised, as my previous experiences with similar cuisine at Barcelona (e.g. the tres cerados during Restaurant Week) were stellar. I imagine we'll be back at some point in time, but after those potatoes I'm not in a hurry."

  • "Barcelona, it just sounds romantic! Unfortunately we weren't too hungry when we went but lucky enough for us their Tapas were just the right size. Their cocktail list was extensive and we tried at least 6 different drinks and loved each one more than the last. We ate indoors with our reservations but the patio looked beautiful, the noise level did start to soar a bit towards the end of our date but all-in-all it was just lovely."

  • "Table was ready when we arrived, service was impeccable, food was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Cured meat was not to the guest liking as an appetizer, however the braized short rib tapa was delicious. The Chocolate Paprika Carmelized Bannana dessert was surprisingly delicious. We are repeat guests and enjoy every meal. It was a bit crowded and noisy for an intimate conversation or anyone who has diminshed hearing. Otherwise a wonderful evening."

  • "Our first visit to Barcelona was for lunch on a Friday were seated on the beautiful patio as requested. Three of our party of four ordered the "menu del dia". Our choices included spanish olives and cheeses marinaded, gazpacho, special deviled eggs, a salad with goat cheese. All were delicious. We also had the pasta and peas, the chicken salad and the scallops with mushrooms. The sides included a very tasty and nicely seasoned mediterranean vegetables as well as fresh fruit. Every food item was perfectly prepared. We would definitely return to Barcelona for lunch or dinner. Quite nice patio ambience. The service was attentive and just right."

  • "Went here for a birthday dinner and ordered a few different tapas and paella- everything was so good! The patio is adorable and a fun spot to be in the summer. Jenna, our server, was great. My mother had just gotten back from two weeks in actual Barcelona, Spain and said the paella was just as good as the real deal!"

  • "It was well recommended , but was a dissapointment. The menu was written well and made you want to order a lot Every suggestion the server made we ordered. All lacked flavor and was nothing special The " Ensalads de verdure" was the biggest dissapointment, just sautéed onions and red and yellow peppers with a few zucchini slices, no seasoning The"
