Diner Reviews
  • "Visiting from New York and was ravishing after a day out sight seeing. Everything was delicious. Ordered 5 dishes between 2 people and were beyond full. Meatballs were a standout!!"

  • "We ate dinner here for my hubbie's birthday and were pleasantly surprised that every single thing we had was delicious. We didn't understand a lot of the menu items as this was our first Mediterranean experience, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a great spot for a date night or very small group. The prices could have been a lot higher for the quality of the food."

  • "Great spot for a date or a group. Restaurant is pretty small and dark, but you can tell it is a super popular place. We got there at 6:20 and our table was ready for our 6:30 reservation. The plates are meant for sharing so I reccomend at least ordering 4 things for two people. Doing that and ordering drinks can get expensive but the food is so good. Will definetly return."

  • "This was our first meal after arriving in Philadelphia, and boy did it set the bar high. We went for lunch. Had the antipasti plate, stuffed meatballs, burrata, and mushroom pizza. Everything was delicious. So full of flavor and so well seasoned. We're already planning our next trip to Philly so that we can try the dinner menu. Amazing food!"

  • "Barbuzzo is noisy, crowded, and too hot during the summer. The food is very good; but the red wine fares poorly, as its stored not far from the open brick oven. Hard to talk. Oven makes it very warm inside."

  • "Without a doubt, this was one of the best Philly dining experiences my husband and I have had. We went there to celebrate our 26th anniversary and were not disappointed. Everything was delicious and freshly-prepared; we cleaned our plates. Upon arrival, we asked to dine outside and were fortunate enough that a table was available. I highly recommend all the menu items that we had: sheeps milk ricotta and roasted marrow bone (snacks & spreads); roasted and raw beet salad and snap pea salad (salads); and finally, our entrees (they're relatively small, so my husband ordered two): bronzino, gnocchi, and hanger steak. The "old fashioned" from the bar was nice and boozy tasting - just the way I like them. We will definitely return here!"

  • " The food was simply outstanding! The service was excellent. For the quality, this may be the best value in all of Philadelphia. I would recommend this restaurant to any friends or family."

  • "Had made reservations for this Philly "hot spot," weeks in advance for a friend and I. Based upon others' reviews and the hype, I was looking forward to an impressive evening; however that proved otherwise do to the service. Servers were extremely rude, short, and did not seem to care about doing their job. Our server was chatting behind the bar, and made it seem that is was our fault when we asked for anything. Also, this is a great place if you enjoy feeling crammed like sardines alongside fellow diners, and if you like to yell to talk with your date. Others around us did not seem to be having a good time. Will not be returning."

  • "We shared many plates so we could all Taste. All in our party said it was great and will be back!"

  • "Too loud Too foo foo We waited forever to get a reservation. We were disappointed with the food the server who had to scream at the next table to be heard! The pizza with the egg ... Ugh! The cheese plate fair at best. The pasta drenched in butter and garlic and small serving. Just not for us!!"

  • "Barbuzza is all about the food-we started with burratta served with grilled asparagus and farm fresh peas. Then on to pizza and pasta, both spot on. Don't forget the salted caramel budino- incredibly rich and delicious."

  • "Great food! Restaurant is small, crowded tables and noisy."

  • "the food was great, had a great time eating outside and the service was awesome. However it's too dark in the restaurant. Absolutely too dark. If not for the outdoor seating option I would feel completely different. And I'm not an old person who needs better glasses, I just want to be able to read the menu and see the people I'm out to dinner with. Other than that though, absolutely fantastic restaurant, one of my favorites"

  • "We had lunch here yesterday and the antipasto for lunch may have been the best antipasto I ever had. The service was great and although loud, we did not have any problem conversing."

  • "This was the second time I've been to Barbuzzo, it's really difficult to get a reservation. I got really lucky once and got a seat at the bar as a walk-in one night and got to watch the chefs cook, which was really cool. The food is incredible and generous servings for tapas. I definitely recommend it."

  • "If you're looking for good food, great service for a quick meal Barbuzzo fits the bill. Having said that, Barbuzzo does not cater to long leisure dining because of the cramped space. It is very noisy and energetic if that is what you like."

  • "I don't like olives but when my step mother and I stayed for dinner, she ordered the olives. She made me try one and I absolutely fell in love with it and I hate olives. This place was awesome"

  • "This place has often outdone itself in terms of cocktails, shared dishes, pizzas, and service."

  • "A delicious meal - definitely lives up to its reputation. Sadly, we were not able to eat inside. We literally could not hear each other. Great restaurant but unpleasant due to decibels. Seems we will only be able to eat there when weather permits outside dining... How about some sound-proofing so we can have a conversation while we dine?"

  • "very good food different from the usual business lunch, a foodie place, casual, attentive staff. noise level is high, and tables are close making it difficult for a business lunch. both I and my guest enjoyed greatly."

  • "Great food and atmosphere. Our meal was all delicious. Must try the Bundino!"

  • "We had eaten at Barbuzo twice in the past and had thoroughly enjoyed our meal. This time, however, while the food was beautifully presented, it lacked taste! Our beet salad had way to much salt and turned out to be the only thing that had flavor! We were really disappointed and will not dine there again."

  • "I don't know when eating on a strangers lap became 'cool' or even acceptable ...Ambiance a side, food wasn't that great either. I had the octopus which came almost right away. And even though I'm a slow eater the pizza that my date ordered didn't come until 25 min after my entry did. The octopus was served by some other person not our waiter who had his fingers in the plate, to add injury to the way it was delivered the plate didn't even look that clean, like I was being served on the same plate someone else had eaten. The octopus itself tasted fishy but the pickle/salad it was on was actually tasty. The pizza was good but not worth the wait. Drinks and desert were ok but again not good enough to make me go back."

  • "We've eaten here twice and loved it both times. The portions are fair and delicious! The wait staff is very well-informed. The first time we were here, our waitress was AMAZING. Our second time around, our service was much slower and unpredictable. Having said that, the asparagus/truffle pizza and ricotta appetizer are AMAZING! Tables are close and the atmosphere is loud, but the food is definitely worth it!"

  • "Barbuzzo is definitely a must-go in Philadelphia! And do NOT leave without having dessert - hell, just go there only for the dessert!"

  • "The food was fantastic. Seating was cramped and uncomfortable but it was for a good cause. The sheep's milk ricotta and the salted caramel budino were my favorites."

  • "Eclectic small plate menu with a wide variety of choices; all 12 of the dishes we tried (including three desserts) were superb. Our waiter was very helpful and patient. The service was very attentive, glasses refilled repeatedly, dishes cleared as soon as finished, constant checking to make sure we were satisfied in every way. Several reviewers commented on the table spacing; yes the restaurant is narrow (but deep) and the '2-tops' are about two feet apart - but not a big deal; and it lends to the up-beat, frenetic nature of the place. As a guide to others, our family of five (Mom, Dad, three teenage boys) was completely satiated after sharing nine small plates and three desserts. Our dinner ran $190 with tip and was worth every penny."

  • "We enjoyed our food at Barbuzzo but would like to have had more vegetarian options. The good was good, however, our dining Experience was not so great. The tables are very close and you feel as though you are dining with the people next to you. Maybe two inches between the tables... It was also very crowded and If you are ok with a lot noise then this is the place for you! It was loud not energetic. We sat back near the bathrooms and it was very hot. Our waitress was very good and knowledgeable about the menu and wines. Funny how she had to take our orders from the side as she couldn't get in front of us."

  • "This restaurant was a great find. The tapas style was perfect for pre theater because you left there satisfied...not stuffed! The wine list was wonderful as well."

  • "Recently went with a group of friends for a weekend dinner. All our appetizers were amazing and the pastas were outstanding. Waiter helped us pick the perfect amount of food and fun drinks to go with them. I am definitely recommending your restaurant to anyone who needs a neighborhood gem in Philly. Thanks!"

  • "We love this place for lunch, after work drinks or dinner. The menu is a little different and great for sharing. We order small plates and get a few options. Have always been happy with my visit."

  • "It's so hard to chose one resturant when coming to the city from SJ. We went on a recommendation from a friend and are so happy we did. Everything from start to finish was amazing. Greeting from friendly staff great explanation from the server being that we've never been to the restaurant before. And the food was unbelievable. I am a total foodie and was blown away by this menu. As I said it's hard to choose and I don't get to the city frequently but I would make a trip to go back and try more things on this menu. "

  • "Their sheeps milk ricotta that comes with crusty bread is the number one reason to go there. It is a must to order. I also love the beet and kale salad. I have been to Barbuzzo at least 5 times and this time was the first time I tried the pizza. Both the Margherita and the Zucca. I could have done without the pizza, to be honest. So thin crust that it hangs like a limp noodle in your hand. Aside from the tomatoes in the Margherita pizza, it is tasteless. The Zucca was interesting. There were bold flavors in there but my friend and I weren't sure if we liked them all together. Next time, I will skip the pizza and stick to the other areas of the menu."

  • "After trying several times to eat at Barbuzzo, my guest and I had a decent meal and drink here. The recipes for our food was too complex for enjoying what we wanted. Tables too close allowed us to hear all conversations, so the noise factor denied us a relaxing evening. We missed what all the "buzz" is about Barbuzzo."

  • "We had lunch there and the food was very good. We did like the drinks better. They have a vodka lemonade that hits the spot on a summer day."

  • "We had been trying to get into Barbuzzo for months. When the opportunity finally came we were well rewarded for the wait. The food was amazing, perfectly prepared and presented, with terrific flavor and texture pairings. Can't wait to have an opportunity to go again!"

  • "A group of 4 of us dined at Barbuzzo on a Wednesday in June. I had a 12 noon res. We were seated immediately upon arriving. The restaurant was not crowded when arriving, although it was pretty full when we left. We had meals and dessert and it took 2 hours. (Not desirable when you have to go back to work.) the waitress was not extremely attentive. Food was not served at the same time, and took a while. However, the food was very good. I had the pear pizza (prosciutto, pancetta, arugula, cheese). Wonderful. We got a salted caramel budino for dessert and I am telling you it was the most amazing tasting sweet I've ever had. Worth every penny of the $8 price. Great little spot. Nice craft beer and wine selection too. "
