Good, but not as good as the first time we were there. We love Sicily and Sicilian food. The taste is generally distinctively unique and punchy. This time it was somewhat bland. Look forward to next time.

The restaurant has been open 4 months now according to the waiter we had. The food was slow in coming out but well worth the wait. There were 3 of us dining and we tried a variety of menu items and they were all good. The ravioli was a stand-out!

The food was great, even the coffee was delicious. However, the service was terrible because there was only one person serving the entire restaurant, so it could be that they were short staffed that day.

Used to be a diner. Now it's a cozy, neighborhood Italian joint. Started with a wonderful negroni. Appetizers and entrees were all well received by our group of 7. Portions maybe a little on the small size and plating could have been a little more focused. But food very good, all in all. The restaurant was very quiet and we were the only table in there most o the night.

The salads were fresh and delicious, the pasta was outstanding- I can't wait to go back for more of that butternut squash gnudi and the cavatelli with the currents- and the cheesecake and canollis for dessert were to die for. Slightly slow, but it was Valentine's Day, and the food was well worth waiting for!

  • It was fashion week and all
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

It was fashion week and all my usual places were full so I booked a table at Eolo based solely on the noise level (moderate). Halfway through the shared beet and pickled pear salad appetizer my friend and I looked at eachother and said "this is really delicious". Then we began to notice the service (friendly but unobtrusive) and the wine list (nice selection) and the great food. I was back four days later with a bigger group and the lamb special, the pastas and the suckling pig all drew compliments. I feel as if I have found a new favorite place to add to my list. And just to confirm - on both occaisions the noise was very moderate so it's a great place for a chatty dinner.

  • This is a deceptive restaurant
    JanesterVIP

This is a deceptive restaurant in many ways. The ambience is rustic, the menu is simple and short. But the food and service are excellent. Our shared vegetable antipasto plate was lovingly presented in four separate dishes, and each one was extremely tasty. The very helpful waiter suggested that I try the cavatelli with cauliflower and breadcrumbs over the maialino, and the pasta was unusual and wonderful. An altogether lovely experience.

Menu is innovative, and food is very good. But service is horrible. First evening there, it took over hour and half for entree to come out of the kitchen. Second time there, still well over an hour. There is something terribly wrong with management of kitchen. Experience becomes an exercise in endurance. Live in the neighborhood and dine out 4-5 nights a week. Neighborhood needs a good high-quality restaurant. I am hoping that they get their act together but am doubtful, since they don't seem to notice that anything is wrong.

The food at Eolo was at its best when it was most authentically Sicilian: the sweet mixed with the savory, the hints of Middle Eastern spice, etc. The mainstream Italian dishes were adequate but not remarkable. Service, alas, was warm-hearted but not efficient.

What a missed opportunity. The food is really good at Eolo, and the location just perfect. However, the ambiance is depressing-80s, and the service is rushed. The presentation of the food could be better. With so many similarly-priced restaurants competing with at least as good food, wonderful atmosphere, and impeccable service, Eolo still has a lot to learn if it wants to stay in the market.

We enjoyed a great evening at Eolo. We had a large party for christmas Eve and had a set priced menu. The food was light and interesting and full of flavour. The desserts were particularly good with the waiter suggesting dessert plate selections for the table. The Sicilian wine was also very good. I booked this restaurant through Open table from Australia and was delighted with the quality of food and excellent value for money. A great start to our eating experiences in Manhattan.

    SkipBuzzVIP

Small, casual dining room with tightly spaced tables. Not a real issue except when large groups (6-8) raise the decibles to annoying levels. Service staff is professional, accomodating, but appear harried. Chef greets each table adding very nice welcoming touch. appetizers' sounded interesting but only OK, nothing exceptional. Main pasta dishes, however, also uniquely prepared, were exceptional. Wine list is extensive with very large Sicilian selection at very reasonable prices. Pleasant experience, good food at reasonable cost ....worth a re-visit.

The food was very good, but the service, despite the open one room-view of all the tables was a bit slow and distracted, by what seemed to be a 'friends and family' dinner of staff members. That said, most of the focus was on that party. Several different Kitchen personnel, though I'm not sure of the hierarchy, came out to this table to either sit and chat or to discuss in greater length the courses. We didn't get the same attention, grant it we were only 2. The atmosphere--low lit, rustic, but lacked a sense of intimacy as every table could be seen at once. Overall, the experience came with an interesting wine list, and cocktail menu. Food was tasty, but the space itself lacked spirit.
