Bar AmericainOutstanding as usualWe have been to Bar Americain three times now, and each time was special. All of Bobby Flay’s recipes include a touch of spiciness, and it transforms an ordinary lamb chop (like I had this time) into something memorable.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMy first time and an excellentMy first time and an excellent first impression. I will certainly plan my next business lunch at your facility. Thanks.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat an excellent time! WeWhat an excellent time! We had arrived half an hour before our reservation and the general manager seated us right away. Our waiter was very helpful and courteous. The food was excellent, especially the crab coconut from the raw bar. We are fans of Bobby Flay, the waiter was kind enough to let us keep our menus for souvenirs and Bobby's sous chef signed them (The waiter said Bobby Flay was not in, but if we came back in a few days he would have signed them himself, unfortunately we were heading home the next day.) We would definitely recommend going to this fancy restaurant.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good as it always is!This was probably our 6th or 7th time at Bar Americain, been there for lunch and dinner. We are never disappointed. The staff is courteous, attentive, and they know the menu. The food is fantastic, the pace is your pace. Recommend it to anyone.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways terrificBobby Flay's take on an Americanised bistro never disappoints. Food is satisfying, even comforting, but with just enough flair and twist of spice or ingredients to keep it interesting and signature. Service is friendly and casual but completely professional and efficient. It's just a great place.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDecent dinner for decent priceCame for dinner following a comedian at Caroline's. Arrived about 20 mins prior to our reservation, but they were able to seat us immediately - 9:30 on a Saturday night, the place was half full.
Service was excellent. Waiter provided helpful suggestions for both food and drink, and staff cleared plates the second you were finished with them.
We shared the shrimp and grits appetizer which was extremely flavorful -- tons of garlic, if that's you're thing. I had the mussels and fries which were very good, and he had the Philly Strip Steak with provolone cheese sauce which he enjoyed. We split the red velvet sundae which was honestly only so-so; the soft serve cheesecake ice cream was better than the cake itself. Overall enjoyable dinner!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch! The food and the service was excellent! Go here for brunch, but be sure to schedule a nap afterward because you're going to need rest after enjoying the hearty dishes here. I highly recommend the crab cakes Benedict! The beignets are a nice way to end your meal, they are heavier than real New Orleans beignets, but still tasty and are served with an assortment of wonderful jams. Our waiter was so friendly and very helpful when we had questions.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday brunchWe had brunch here after a bike ride in Central Park. Menu had a good variety of breakfast and lunch items. Delicious Bloody Mary and mimosa. Waitstaff attentive.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific MenuBy Far, a must for all trips to NYC...the RAW Menu is Fantastic!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall it was good to really goodI had the Florida Snapper and my wife had the mussels. No complaints. The menu has a southwestern flare. We were going to a show and the staff works hard to make sure you make it on time.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerWe celebrated our one yearwedding anniversary at Bar Americain. It was a great reminder of the first time we went when we first started dating. And of course, we got the pistachio creme brule again. MMMM6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Pre TheaterWe had a great meal. It very lively at 5:30 on a Wednesday. At that time, rather strong business crowd. GREAT looking raw bar. We had our children with us ( 4 and 7... very well behaved, yet poor judgement on my part, since it turned out that everyone there came straight from an office....) Modified the menu a tiny bit for them. Great spot - pre theater, but not Times Square-ish or touristy. I'd love to go back on a weekend to see. I will definitely go back to enjoy the raw bar and the mussels. (I had the mussels this time. My husband had the pork chop and french onion soup. He loved both.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMwe had a blast here. It waswe had a blast here. It was a Wednesday night about 9:00 and the place was packed. Excellent food and service!!!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingMy husband says that the onion soup at Bar Americain is the best that he has ever had! I always save room for dessert when dining out and the pistachio creme brulee with chocolate cherry biscotti did not disappoint!!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our meal very much.We enjoyed our meal very much. The mezzanine was perfect for a more private dining experience.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good for American foodThe red snappe I had was excellent. Service was very good. Large variety of desserts, also excellent quality6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall very good. BeautifulOverall very good. Beautiful decor. We all enjoyed our dinner. One steak was undercooked, but we were offered dessert for the inconvenience.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AM1st time in NYCWe went to Bar Americain for dinner before going to the theater on Broadway, and it was an absolutely fabulous meal. This trip was present to my wife, who is retiring. We "hit a home run" with dinner at Bar Americain!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMbest for winedinner was very good, but not tops. Loved the wines and ambience. would return to try more wines, but not dinner.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDessertI had the deep dish chocolate cream pie...and it was EXCELLENT! I have recommended it to people and will come back for it.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful atmosphere, greatWonderful atmosphere, great wait staff, delicious food!! On a ladies trip to NY, we went before our 8:00 play. Reservation was at 6:00 and we had lots of time to sip our wine, enjoy our dinner and chat. Convenient to theater locations giving you lots of time to get to your play. Will definitely go back on our next visit:)5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good. Tuna tartarFood was good. Tuna tartar excellent but I liked the chunkier version at Mesa Grill better. Food was well presented. My mussells were great. Service was good. Great bar scene. A bit too noisy for a casual/business dinner.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSophisticated yet comfortblePerfec for any occasion, to represent any event (persnal or business). Great food, location, atmosphere. I dine there regularly with clients and friends /family. I feel at home there as I know the food and service will be superb every time.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is a little on the saltyFood is a little on the salty and more bitter side, especially the tuna tartare. Service was great though and the ambience is rivalled by few in the area.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great that allThe food was great that all of our steaks were done perfectly as ordered. Compare to the food, the desserts was just fine. The soufflé was a bit plain and the three cherry tart was a bit over done.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific BrunchMy wife & I decided to try Bar Americain for our anniversary brunch. A couple of years ago we brunched at one of Bobby Flay's other restaurants, Mesa Grill, and it was great. Bar Americain was just as good. It's a beautiful space, and we had an early (11:30 am) brunch. While it got crowded, it never got noisy. The food, drinks and service were all terrific. The biggest problem was narrowing down the selections, since everything on the menu looked good. Will definitely be returning.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Dining Experience! My husband and I were excited to visit Bar Americain and were not disappointed!! For an appetizer, we ordered their specialty pizza with bacon and sweet onions, it was amazing. For entrees, I had a pork chop which was perfectly cooked, and my husband ordered the cioppino, which in his words was "the best meal I have ever had"! We are never disappointed with any of Bobby Flay's Restaurants and would highly recommend them to everyone.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA friend recently dined hereA friend recently dined here and recommended it for our upcoming trip to NYC. We were not disappointed. The food and service were outstanding! I recommend a table upstairs for added ambience. Also, this is an excellent spot for a pre-theater dinner without a pre-fixe menu.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food - convenient to theatersAs out of towners, we knew that this place had to be good with Bobby Flay's name on it but we were pleasantly surprised to find every item we ate outstanding. Fun, energetic atmosphere. Waiters all very professional and personable. Perfect distance from the theaters. We will be back when we come to NYC again. We loved the lamb chops (cooked perfectly), roasted corn soup (a taste of summer to come) and snapper (moist and tangy).5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time eatingThis was my first time eating here. I was impressed with the selections at the bar. I had an old fasion that was one of the best that I have ever had. The food was delicious and the ambience was perfect for a romantic dinner with my girlfriend. I would highly recommend Bar Americain.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodBobby Flays Restaurant was great..great experience and great food..I had the rabbit and tried the duck..it as fantastic!! i would go there again.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingBar Americain never dissapoints. The service is outstanding and the food is delicious. The flavor combinations are so well thought out, each entree is a journey not just a meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Great service.Everything was cooked exactly like we asked. Our only complaint was that this night they were unusually forgetful and seemed to lose our order, delivering it to the table very late. But just as we were beginning to notice, the manager caught it first and came over to apologize. In my book, the recovery is what heals all wounds when it comes to customer service. He went on to stop by during the meal to make sure the food was perfect and then came back at the end to apologize a second time. They threw in a complimentary dessert and even, to our great surprise, reduced our bill by a significant amount. My family has been here three times and no matter the size of our group, from 2 to 30, they always treat us right.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA+ all the way.Just a first-class experience. The legendary warm potato chips with bleu cheese sauce; a sampler of ceviches; the Hawaiian poke; the dark chocolate pudding pie; wonderful mains, fantastic wine, and really great service. I have no criticisms, I have no notes. A great dinner.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner with the cast of Anchorman 2The food and service was among the best I've ever had. Our date only got better when Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, Judd Apatow, and David Koechner (sp?) came in and sat just a table over from us.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingHad an amazing dinner. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and they made it special for us. Food was fantastic, we will be back. Thank you!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb food! The shrimp wasSuperb food! The shrimp was yummy! Service was amazing!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice experienceMy sister, sister- in-law and I had a great Saturday brunch before our matinee show. The bellinis and mimosa were great, as well as our entrees. The bread basket is to die for. The location is super convenient for theater goers. We enjoyed the atmosphere and will return.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food in NYCMy hubby and I went because we overheard a group raving about it. Staff was great food was even better. We shared the shellfish cocktail trio, Boston salad, filet & asparagus. The place is beautiful and the location in Times Square is very convenient.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!Bobby Flay's restaurant did not disappoint. I was a bit worried the hype would be greater than the reality, but that was certainly not the case. Everything was fantastic, from the service (the staff was very friendly, but didn't hover), to the bar (try the whiskey smash) and of course the food. I had rabbit and my wife had chicken. Both were excellent! We also tried the homemade potatoe chips with warm Bleu cheese dipping sauce, and ended the meal with a dessert of Pecan Bourbon Prailine profiteroles (say that 5 times fast :) with vanilla bean ice cream. Scrumptious!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyable. First experienceVery enjoyable. First experience at a Bobby Flay restaurant and it did not disappoint!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulWe came to New York to celebrate two birthdays. We have eaten several times at Bar Americain and the food has always been fabulous and amazing. Dinner was not disappointing. Great restaurant and food.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat PlaceWe really enjoy going to Bar Americain when in Manhattan. The seafood sampler (not sure if that is what it is called) was excellent. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the coconut crab was amazing. I had the ribeye steak and it was incredible. It had so much flavor. My only disappointment was my dessert. It tasted old. It did not taste like german chocolate cake.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNoisy but DeliciousBar Americain never disappoints when it comes to food...or the noise level, which is deafening. We switched tables, sat near the door, and as the crowd thinned, we were able to hear the conversation at our own table! The food is wonderful and our waiter was a doll. We think of this restaurant for special occasions and it's still very unique and fun. Go later, when the noise level is more bearable.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experience! From the moment we walked into Bar Americain we knew it would a great experience. The hosts were so pleasant and had a great sense of humor which sett the tone for the entire dinner. Our waiter was extremely friendly and interested in us. Be kept his appropriate distance but was there when we needed him. Having come to this restaurant sticky because Bobby Flay owns it, we have seen that it has so much more to offer. The food was great but the service and atmosphere was outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant, such a wonderful experience. I will be going back.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceThis was ny second visit and I must say it just got better. The food was great but the service really made it a wonderful meal. We were with friends who are not foodies but the waiter made good suggestions and made them feel at ease. They said that the next time they are in NYC they are coming back!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMReally goodEvery aspect of the meal...cocktail, appetizer, entree and dessert was far above average. And the surprise was surprisingly reasonable considering New York City's normally absurd costs for a nice dinner out. Would highly recommend this place.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchWe had a fantastic brunch this past mother's day at Bar Americain. Started off with the most wonderful beignets accompanied with home jams such as strawberry jalapeno and wild cherry bourbon--just to name a few. The lamb sausages were some of the best we have ever eaten. Our table right by the open kitchen would have been just as fabulous had only Mr. Flay been in the house. I would highly recommend this restaurant for brunch.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is very good andThe food is very good and the service is great. The menu has great variety so it fits the eat healthy crowd and the steak and potatos dinners. Prices is also very reasonable for a fine dining restaurant.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went here for my boyfriend'sWe went here for my boyfriend's birthday- he'd been wanting to try this place for quite a while. The food was incredible, and the portions were surprisingly generous given the quality of the food. Servers and busers were very attentive without hovering. Excellent experience overall. Our only issue was that it was a little bit noisy, but that's to be expected. Highly recommend!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
