Bar AgricoleWondeful brunchWe went for Mother's day brunch. I had the buckwheat beignets and the semolina pancake. They were delicious. I am still dreaming about them. I was expecting something nice but the dishes were way about my expectations.

I didn't think about going for brunch until I started looking for a nearby place for a Mother's Day brunch. It was my wife's first Mother's Day, so I wanted to keep close to home in case the baby melted down. I also was hoping we'd get seated outside in Agricole's nice outdoor garden area - which worked out and resulted in a great brunch. Basically, great service, great food; we were well attended-to, the cocktails were excellent, and this place is totally under the radar for the neighborhood - hidden from street view (which is a good thing on 11th/Folsom). It was getting busy, but I could still talk with my wife across the table without yelling. The bar scene looked to be happening.
We had the fried smelt, artichoke soup, fennel salad, and duck breast; all of which were excellent. Presentation, quality, ingredients, and portion were all excellent.
The standout was the service. Everyone (a team of five) was attentive without being obtrusive, and very, very nice.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBeyond delicious.The ambiance was busy, but a comfortable busy. The restaurant was pleasantly buzzing with activity. The food was outstanding. My husband and I began with the Sea Urchin Deviled Eggs which were fresh and tasty. I ate the Green Farro with shiitake mushrooms, green garlic and green almonds, which was meaty and just made me want to eat more with every bite. My husband had the Crispy Duck which he proceeded to devour. His plate was absolutely clean by the time he was done. The service was excellent. The waiter was attentive but not overbearing. I didn't expect it. Artwork and design is nice. I would say it is a little too loud for my taste but it is bearable.
Food: Few things on the menu but hit my weakness. Duck!!! I love duck. The liver tartine was delicious, earthy and so tasty. Duck breast main course was beautifully presented, no oversized portion (thank you). Freshness of the produce was awesome. Love the fresh garbanzo bean. My friend order the cod and the plate looks delicious.
Drinks: good selection of wine (haven't try it). Ginger beer is spicy and delicious. Cocktail list seems appealing.

Deliciously created mixed drinks with amazing flavors - most bitterly beautiful. Bartenders are filled with knowledge and show mixing finesse. Bites are tantalizing - sea urchin deviled eggs are amazingly sensual. Chef prepared a family style meal and served it on the patio. Menu was well thought out and every dish demonstrated the chef's excellent skill. Staff was helpful and friendly and not intrusive. Bartender knows the business and delivered excellent drinks. Have already recomended the restaurant/bar to other collegues. The cocktails were fantastic -- as was the food. We started with a broccolini and hummus dish and then I had the duck confit. Both were simply perfection! The service was wonderful as well.
