We got pizza with sausage and onions-the onions too strong. I enjoy thin crust, but this crust was so thin it lacked any tooth. The eggplant parm was good, not impressive and not cheesy. Good salad, clean dressing. The service was attentive and personable. While the meal was fine, it was not the special find I was hoping for. Not sure why everyone else gave 4.5 stars, in SF??? Liked the homey, family feel."

  • "This family run restaurant is a one and only. Every time we visit San Francisco, we come here at least once. The atmosphere, service, food is like stepping into a bistro in Italy! The pizza dough is impossibly thin. Ingredients delicious. Have to say that all we've had is pizza, but the other items on the menu look as good. Authentic salads, antipasti, pizzas. You really can't go wrong. And, the sons who work the front of the restaurant are so kind and happy. They make you feel at home. You will not go wrong coming here...skip the trendy restaurants with tables on the busy street. You will not be disappointed stepping into this little neighborhood gem. Thanks as always for a great meal!"

Pasta is freshmade by the lady owner, who comes to check inside the restaurant if everything is alright! Her two sons serve at your table and are extremely friendly. I had dinner with my son, we both loved this place."

  • "... if you like the thin crust-type... This is my third critic of my favorite Italian dive in North Beach in less than a year's time. Baonecci has never disappointed me, and everyone is just so friendly! I'd give a "high-5" on everything if it wasn't that the pies weren't so overpriced. I mean, a Margarita, the classic naked pizza, or the Pizza Napoli, another classic w anchovies and capers, so w v simple toppings on them, how can they cost 18.99 bucks? They should be 10 or less! It's just a dough! Maybe NB prices are hiked by the yuppies invading SF, but this still is a charming hole in the wall, totally un-fancy - take a look at Stefania's kitchen. This is all well and fine and part of the experience, but please, get your prices right!"

  • "One important thing to note is that the restaurant does NOT serve "secondi piatti". It only serves appetizers, salads, pastas and pizzas. We both ordered pasta dishes which were very good, but also very expensive. The glass of red wine was served refrigerated, but at least they were willing to replace it with something else. The noise level was minimal on a Wednesday night, but only 3-4 tables were occupied. The dining room is small but charming in a rustic way. However, at $50 per person (one shared salad, two pastas, and three glasses of wine), I thought it was overpriced."

  • "Baonecci is a good choice for a traditional Columbus Avenue area pizza and basic pasta meal, but not your choice if you're looking for a romantic place, fine dining, or ambience. It's a small place with very basic family restaurant furnishings and wall decorations like the family pizza parlor I grew up with in the northeast. Pizza and lasagna we shared were very good and also made fine leftovers for the next days lunch. For our-of-towners, Baonecci might make a better casual lunch destination that a special dinner occasion place. But if you're just looking for a traditional North Beach Italian joint with good food and local family restaurant fare, you can't go wrong."
