The food here is super delish. All
my favs, like hargow, pork Bao and perfectly cooked green beans in garlic. The honey walnut shrimp are a must order! And don't forget drinks - lychee martini is shaken to perfection."

it's great as always. i'm going
again on thursday :)"

This spot is great for everything
from a slightly-more-than-casual dinner with friends or family, to a cozy date for two. I love the atmosphere here and the staff is always incredibly attentive and accommodating. Definitely a go to spot when I'm showing visitors around the neighborhood."

We love Bao and go there
frequently. It's a great place to go with a group. You can order tons of different items, dim sum, noodles, soups, etc. and share family-style. Reasonably priced too - you order so many different items that you think the bill is gonna be crazy but it comes and it's totally reasonable. They have a happy hour menu that goes until 7p which is great too. You don't have to sit at the bar to order from the happy hour menu either. Great cocktails, too. We are never disappointed."

Great, reasonably prices Asian
tapas. Yummy food and attentive service."

There were six of us with a few
who have difficulty hearing, especially when there is background noise. So we purposely reserved our table at 5 assuming we would practically have the restaurant to ourselves. Unfortunately, lots of folks decided to eat at Bao Dim Sum early. The restaurant was completely unprepared for such an early crowd. While it was noisy and we had to wait quite a while to get all our dishes, the staff really did everything in their power to compensate. Folks who normally clear plates helped to serve food. Everyone communicated with us and did whatever they could. Some food arrived promptly so there were items to eat. Staff turned a difficult situation into a positive one with the team effort and work ethic displayed."
Dined on 2/15/2014
No reason to eat here. Unless
you're stuck. The salt and pepper calamari isn't bad. Other than that, skip it."
Dined on 2/16/2014
Always great fun. Great choices in
a warm and interesting atmosphere. Will keep returning."

In spite of having a reservation,
there was some confusion to be seated, had to wait about 10 minutes. From there on, it was very smooth. The waitress was very polite, empty dishes were cleared quickly, water refilled. The best part, of course, was the food and the price. I only like to eat small portions and a variety and this fits the bill ;o) Food was great, I did not realize that steamed buns were this sticky, so getting it out on to our plate was a challenge; the pan fried ones were more delicious. I would definitely go back and take my friends as well."

Me and my fiancé went to Bao for
Valentines Day. It was our first time and we loved it. The service was amazing and the food came out with in minutes. She loves the Hot and Sour soup and says it's the best she's ever had. The baked pork buns were by far the best Bbq pork buns I've ever had. I was not a fan of the spicy chicken dumpling. It had no taste and was not spicy. Past that I was extremely happy. Warning the ribs are not like asain ribs you would normally get. They come in a watery bowl. Next time I'll order the sliced pork. The desert was out of site. The staff is top notch and the managers check on you. I always love that. The owner was sitting at the bar. We had 6 things and the bill was $59. Well worth it."

Heard about this place from a
friend. Really glad I tried it out! Will be back soon!"
Dined on 2/11/2014
Went here with my girlfriend last
night. First time we tried to go we went without a reservation and couldn't get in. This time we made a reservation and it was empty! The food was really good. My favorite was the garlic green beans, her favorite was the shrimp stuffed eggplant. Beef chow fun was great too. BBQ Pork Steamed Bun was mediocre."

Great food- Reasonable prices!

If you had food like this in
chinatown you'd consider it just okay, but as perhaps the only dim sum option in Mid-Wilshire it fares better. Bao is a pretty good option to have in your hip pocket, but don't confuse it with a foodie paradise; despite the snazzy decor and hipster clientele, it doesn't quite rise to that level."
Dined on 1/30/2014
one of the better place to get
chinese food in the Hollywood/Beverly hills area. really nice and clean dining area, and the server who served us explained their menu in detail and very friendly."
Dined on 1/25/2014
A few changes to the menu since we
were there last and looks like a lot of new staff, too. Not as impressed as we've been before. Dumplings were a little sticky, soup was a little watery, milk buns were a little too bready. On the plus side, some great menu additions but, overall, the meal was average--and we've been huge fans since the doors opened/I've done really positive 5 star reviews. Something was either off this time or something's changed, not for the better. We'll go back but if what we experienced this time is a new standard, won't be going back all that much."

Recently moved back to LA and
extremely disappointed to find Empress Pavilion closed down I found Bao Dim Sum House. Far from a true dim sum house experience where food rolls by on carts and you pick what you want as they roll by the Bao Dim Sum House offers more of an upscale experience. The food has been consistently good on both my visits and the manager has been very eager to make sure that the experience was above par on both my visits. It's convenient and a great spot to dine with a non-experienced dim sum eater."
Dined on 1/18/2014
it's one of my favorite spots! we
got shrimp stuffed bell peppers, chicken and spinach dumplings, crystal shrimp dumplings, juicy pork dumplings, crispy shrimp and crab balls, calamari, chicken and shrimp fried rice... we loved every single dish as always :)"
Dined on 1/18/2014
We tried the Bao House for the
first time. This would be a good alternative if you are craving for dim sum but don't want to drive to Chinatown or the San Gabriel area (Monterey Park / Alhambra area). When you first walk in, the decor and ambiance is a little bit more trendy than your typical Asian restaurant. There are no old ladies walking around pushing the dim sum carts around here. If you're looking for a typical $2.00 dim sum per order, you are in the wrong place! I would only recommend this to friends who can't do the traditional dim sum because they can't eat pork or you're too lazy to drive to the San Gabriel Valley area. I'm giving it a 4 star overall rating for the excellent service we received."
Dined on 1/11/2014
The food selection was terrific
and there's a huge variety outside of Dim Sum if you don't want to only have that. And, if she's working, make sure to ask for Esther's section. Super personable and knows her stuff...and it was my birthday and, without prompting from my husband, she put a candle in our Milk Bun dessert (and didn't charge us for them). That's the kind of service that keeps me going back to a place. Bravo!"
Dined on 1/8/2014
Fantastic food, prepared to
perfection. Not the traditional dim sum carts though. The service was somewhat slow, considering it was early and the restaurant was relatively empty. The first waitress kept walking toward us, then turning and walking away. Cocktail took forever and tea cup has lipstick on it, lipstick that did not belong to my boyfriend. They made a mistake on one dish, and corrected it. In the end, we had a total of 6 different servers, so I'm really not sure who the tip was going to."
Dined on 1/5/2014
We got there a bit before closing
time, we were rushed to a table by the host but the service was really good. Only ate dim sums, some tasted to similar but other then that very nice, not too expensive, fast service tapas style."

I was looking for a Chinese
restaurant in L.A., and found this one which looked interesting on the web, but actually it was better when we got there. The food was great, and different from what I'm used to having. The service was good, and the price was reasonable."
Dined on 12/26/2013
We eat here almost every time we
are in LA. The food was especially delicious this time. I'm a strict eggless vegetarian and they did great for me!"
Dined on 12/22/2013
Great. We were looking for a
replacement Dim sum place after empress pavilion closed. More beautiful inside and more pleasant too."
Dined on 12/22/2013
A good place to go with a group
since there's something for everyone on the menu which has a wide selection. Everything was good or great except the wonton soup was a little bland. The service wasn't great but not bad. I've been for a Mother's Day Brunch which is a great venue for that day. I also been with my kids which is great since I have a picky eater and I seem to always find something items she'll eat."
Dined on 12/21/2013
It was good but nothing memorable.
I've had better dim sum elsewhere."
Dined on 12/13/2013
Been searching for a great Dim Sum
place in West LA and lthough my non-Asian friends told me about Bao, what Asian would take a Dim Sum place named "Bao"...&...in West Hollywood, seriously ?! In desperation, but not the time/energy to drive to San Gabriel or the desire to wait over 30min, I was fortunately proven wrong ! My "typical" rule is never be one of the first diners first thing on Sunday AM in a Dim Sum restaurant, but Dim Sum was cleaner/fresher tasting, less oily and more perfect than many in Chinatown or in San Gabriel. The Dim Sum pieces are huge....2x the normal...which worried us, immediately upon seeing them, since the skin, then, tends to be too thick and gooey....BUT...they were moist, delicate and awesome ! We'll be back."
Dined on 12/8/2013
i love it there! chicken
potstickers are amazing! the taro chicken and mushroom was ok. i will stick to what i normally order cuz it's the best! green beans and shrimp stuffed bell peppers :)"
Dined on 11/29/2013
it has become one our favorite
restaurant. three visits in two weeks!"
Dined on 11/24/2013
The food was just OK Chinese food
and not as good as most Chinese restaurants in San Gabriel Valley. The service was dressed up and attentive. However, the prices made it overall not so great."

I am so happy to enjoy the lunch
at BAO DIM SUM.. it was much better than I expected.. especially all the BAO is the best in the town, even tastes better than some of chinese dim sum place in chinatown.. recommend for everyone who like dim sum.."
Dined on 11/20/2013
I've been here twice for Sunday
brunch. The food is great, fresh and easy to order (they have a separate menu with pictures) and the service is always friendly. Great place for two or a small group of friends."
Dined on 11/17/2013
Fantastic place in every way . The
food is scrumptious , the staff are warm and professional and its all served in a lovely atmosphere as well . I want to take EVERYONE here !!!"
Dined on 11/15/2013
We had many small plate dim sum
dishes and they were all prepared very well. Varying tastes made for a fun dining experience. Also very reasonable prices."
Dined on 11/11/2013
food is amazing here. i got the
chicken potstickers and shrimp stuffed bell peppers. both were yummy! we split the calamari too. also great!"
Dined on 11/10/2013
Good place for groups not really
for a younger couple just not our cup of tea"
Dined on 11/3/2013
Food great Ambience great Service
slow but the management comped us a dish and the beverages. Staff were great Sensational calamari and dumplings Would be easy to go into gluttony mode and pick one of everything"
Dined on 10/30/2013
when i choose this place, they
never disappointment me. food is great, service is always perfect!! definitely, i will come again!"
Dined on 10/22/2013
Had five different dim sum, four
steamed and one fried and then the milk bun for dessert. There were two of us and we could have gotten by with one or two less. This place is fantastic! All the food is cooked to order, not a cart dim sum place.....so fresh and delicious.......go!!!"
