  • "My husband and I went for our anniversary. We had our reception at The Litchfield Inn 26 years ago. Thought it would be nice to return. The overall Inn had not changed much but the bar area has been redone. The ambiance is great. I love the booth set up. You feel like you have your own private area. The bar was extremely hot which made it uncomfortable. They were short staffed but all worked together to get the food out in a timely manner. We had the filet and ribeye, the presentation was great and the food was prepared perfectly."

  • "We did the Monday night special of $.99 per ounce of prime rib and went during happy hour, too. The food was excellent, the service was excellent (although, I must say, I waited a bit longer for my drink that I was comfortable with--the place wasn't that crowded, so I didn't see a reason for that . . .), but notwithstanding that, the prime rib was awesome, the veggies fresh, the mashed potatoes just like homemade! Dessert was excellent and plentiful, but the best part of all was the check, which was far less than we would have paid at our normal restaurant. Highly recommend this place!"

  • "My wife and I went there for dinner. The food was great. The service was great. I guess if I had to pick out something bad it would have to be the butter. It was just a little bit hard and difficult to spread. But that's hardly worth complaining about. We had a good laugh about it with our server, Samantha."

All four adults enjoyed the Monday night prime rib special, which was the best we've enjoyed in a very long time. Two of us tried the crab & lobster bisque.. excellent! The service was excellent and cheerful. We will certainly return."

This was a buffet so there really should have been little expectation from waitstaff other than drinks, clear our plates, and get us the check.   • "Food (the special) was lackluster. Obviously prepped before hand in bulk, heated and served. Bread was decent, water excellent, but the first round of drinks were sent back. Asked for 2 platinum margaritas. They were mixed by the waitress using orange juice. I followed her to the bar to watch what was being done. Her solution was to add more Grand Mariner to the flawed drink. I then asked for a bartender who solved the problem."

  • "I love a Sunday buffet brunch, and was pleased overall with everything. We sat in a booth which was designed with an archway to enter through and gave the impression we were in a private dining area - very unique and nice. The food choices were OK. My husband was impressed with the meat selections, and the omelet was great! The bagel area had tons of good toppings, but the bagel was just OK. Personally, I think a brunch should always include fresh fruit, but there was none offered."

  • "Had a $20 for $40 coupon so decided to try it. The atmosphere was warm, friendly and comfortable. We sat in a booth against a wall, very private and relatively quiet, a weekday night. Don't know how it would be for kids, seemed more a place for grown ups but there is a kids menu so might be fine. Service was good, attentive but no hovering. Drinks were top brands without asking. Lots of choices, appetizers, starters, salads, small plates, entrees and sides, not to mention the desserts. We both had the cod special and it was very good. A little pricier than some, but not a lot and well worth it. Menu is available online. We will definitely go again."

  • "We liked finding a new spot for brunch, especially in Litchfield. And for being in Litchfield in the fall, it wasn't too crowded! Unfortunately the restaurant itself is all inside with no view or outside light, except for several outside tables. The food itself was good, with a variety of breakfast, brunch, and dessert options. We thought it was a very good value for $20 each."

  • "the pictures from the official website make this bistro look very upscale. It's not unless by upscale you are referring to a cafeteria. There are TVs on the wall so you can catch the game and a large bar. The room is spacious but not warm–good for friends & beer. However, the burger was one of the BEST I've ever eaten. It's made from angus beef and the fries were hot and perfectly cooked. I asked for a medium rare and was served a medium rare burger on a soft delicious bun. These burgers are large and juicy so you can split it with a friend unless you are really hungry or a gourmand. They also serve fish, but the smell of it was so strong it made me worry."

  • "The Monday night prime rib special is a solid winner at 99cents an once served with flavorful mashed potatoes and veggies. Weds. nights it is 20percent discount for Seniors on all regular menu items...can't beat that. The bistro is also a wonderful atmosphere with very attentive and friendly service. Every order is made fresh so sometimes the weight is a bit long but worth the weight. Go for a special occasion or just to hang out with friends at the bar for small bites. great addition to the area."

  • "We had an okay experience at Bantam Bistro. There was one large group in the restaurant and a few other scattered diners, but the dining room was barely alive. The decor was really dated, borderline depressing. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The menu was pretty good and the food was GOOD. My salad of arugula, beets, grapefruit and goat cheese was pretty good. Then I had bucatini with shrimp and clams which was tasty, although very, very spicy. I like spicy food but this was a notch more than it should have been for restaurant fare without the warning. I wouldn't go out of my way for this restaurant."

Broken AC or they knew about it but it was like walking into an air conditioned room when we left and walked outside. Might have just been able to open the windows and/or doors.   • "Bantam Bistro has excellent food and atmosphere and it was interesting to find out the chef came from Boulders Inn where my husband and I use to go to celebrate our anniversary for years. The atmosphere is awesome in that it has a casual feel to it and you can have a romantic dinner while others are enjoying themselves with their family. The service is excellent in that the staff is attentive to your needs and very personable. It is hard to find a restaurant where everything is excellent from (drinks,apps,dinner to dessert) beginning to end as well as staff and atmosphere. Our only disappointment was they may be removing their key lime pie from the menu which is the best we have ever had."

  • "We were at the Bantam Bistro for the first time on Easter Sunday for their brunch. I realize we shouldn't rate a restaurant on such a busy day and normally I would take the food with a grain of salt, no pun intended. The Service was from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm we had a reservation for 1:15 when we went through the food line at least four of the entre's or vegetable dishes were empty (long lines) the dishes that were available were overcooked or dry. There was an omlette, waffle, and pancake bar that was backing up the line. When I finally got to the meat slicing station the ham was dry and the lamb was more than well done. I will try the restaurant on a slower night I've heard it is good bud I couldn't see spending $80.00 plus drinks."

  • "Bantam Bistro is contained within the Litchfield Inn. We visited on a Saturday in mid-March. No problem getting a table...we suspect that dinner is the busier mealtime at this restaurant. We thought the food was good and reasonably priced. The dining room was quiet during our visit...very nice if you want to have good conversation with your table mates without shouting to be heard. Very attentive wait staff."

  • "We have passed the Bantam Bistro about a hundred times in the past few years as we live in New Milford and travel to Litchfield and Torrington for shopping trips and entertainment. We finally decided to give it a try. Our food was excellent (best french fries I have ever had), our service was better than excellent. Unfortunately, we were next to an extremely large group that had several loud individuals that made it very difficult for my wife and I to hear each others conversation. It continued for the entire dinner as they seemed to be in for the long haul. However, we will not be discouraged, and we will return for another dinner very soon."

  • "Went there to celebrate our anniversary. We were staying at the inn and a casual mention of why we were there was conveyed to the Bistro, and they were very sweet and comped a dessert. Unexpected and appreciated. They also had no problem with substitutes when I wanted one entree but different sides. The food was excellent. Strongly recommend the Terrine for an appetizer. And the hummus that was brought in lieu of bread was great. It was lemony and savory and a treat. The wine list is very good with a good range of prices. All in all a really great time was had. I highly recommend it."

  • "I was very pleased with our first dining experience at Bantam Bistro. They have a beautiful fireplace and some cozy booths. My husband had a NY strip and it was cooked perfect. We both had appetizers and salads which were also very good. I had a pasta dish which was very heavy on garlic and thats just the way I like it. Overall great meal and good wine.Will be back soon."

  • "The brunch menu was excellent. The highlight was the roasts, they were wonderful. The other food was excellent. If you're in the mood for an omelet or pancakes you're in luck. They will make it to order right on the spot. The salads and pastries were excellent. The only criticism was not having bagels. They put out a wonderful thin cut salmon, but nothing to put it on. The staff was attentive. We went there for a birthday and they surprised us with a special treat at the end of the meal. It will be a place I go back to again."

  • "Definitely an off night since they were short on help. No hostess, long wait for menu to arrive and order to be taken. We have eaten there before and it was much better service. Menu is limited and the Hanger steak at $30 is much too aggressive pricing. They need to add more moderate entrées to the menu for that market. Nice bar. The Charcuterrie, one of the more popular bar bites was taken off the menu...bad move!"

The mussels reminded me of Brussels, while other members of the party enjoyed upscale American food. Everything was prepared to our liking and delicious. Will definitely return."
