Diner Reviews
  • "The kids loved getting involved bbqing their own meal. The ingredients were fresh and great quality and the service was great. I'd go back."

  • "We were visiting the city and arrived in on a late flight, started looking for something to eat around 9:30, so wanted an easy walk from our hotel in Midtown west. Having not tried Korean food before, we decided on Bann based on other reviews in Open Table. We were not disappointed!!! The food was excellent and the service, contrary to some of the other reviews, was very friendly and helpful. We were served quickly, but did not feel rushed at all."

  • "We were going to a show next door at New World Stages. We decided that lunch at Bann would be a good ides. We were wrong. It was a GREAT idea. Everything was delicious. We had the scallion pancakes and the crab rolls to start. Then we had rib eye and tuna for the grill. Everything was fabulous. We will be back"

  • "I went to Bann restaurant for my 25th birthday and it was a great experience! The food was marinated well and tender after grilling. Only complaint was the waiter was rushing us. In his defense it was late! Overall nice pick!"

  • "Eating with another, we each ordered a lunch box, $15, thinking we might be getting a good mix of things in measured quantity. The mix was good--about 7-8 different items (salad, rice, grated cucumber perhaps, miso soup, main, noodle dish, interesting take on kim chee)--and generally well done and far from pedestrian, but the quantity went well beyond "measured" into "quite ample". The only adverse note I'd point out is that the rice was unseasoned and the main did not have enough "juice", let's say, to allow the two to be mixed without the rice still coming across as a bit bland. Otherwise, highly recommended, a lunch find, and a spot to which I expect to return."

  • "Waiter was helpful with suggestions - probably about 35-50% more expensive than I would have thought but New York makes you numb to stupid prices...probably would look around next time for something else just because of the price - keeping in mind I cooked the food!!"

  • "Excellent Korean food. Bulgogi and kalbi are amazing"

  • "We enjoyed ourselves. The food was yummy, and the cooking yourself option is always fun. The waiter was a bit pushy like he wanted us to hurry along our meal, but it is not like they were hurting for space so we took our own sweet time."

  • "First of all, I called for a reservation and was told that there was only a 8pm reservation available--I checked OpenTable and there was a 6:45pm, so I booked it! Arrived a few minutes early, was seated late--the host was strange and not inviting, our order was messed up--we asked for something not to come in our dishes due to allergy reasons and was told that it wouldn't be in our dish anyway and it came with that item. Food came out quickly, but it wasn't extraordinary or anything. Server had too many tables so it was hard for him to come to us when we needed him, but he was quite friendly and attentive otherwise."

  • "Shockingly mediocre Korean food in Midtow. The seafood pancake was too floury, and the duck grill was average at best. Very few side dishes. Even the kimchee was weak. Clearly not aimed at Asians, or anyone with knowledge and experience of Korean food"

  • "So I had lunch at Bann Restaurant and introduced two people to the pleasure of Korean Table BBQ! They LOVED IT and I love being a cultural ambassador!!!! Bann was the perfect choice - not exactly authentic (I didn't wanna hit 'em with a full on Korean show, it can be a bit overwhelming) - but a great intro to the cuisine and the quality of the food is SUPERLATIVE - They both RAVED about how amazing the beef was - and the service was wonderful (accommodating without being suffocating) I pop my collar on a job well done!!!"

  • "We went for lunch. An excellent experience. They have a broad menu, but we ordered off the lunch specials. A great amount of food for the money. The pork belly special was tasty, and accompanied with kimchi, broccoli, pickled radish, noodles, and a tasty miso soup. My wife shared the dish with me, and along with an additional bowl of miso soup, and some kimchi pancakes, we were both stuffed. A good selection of sakes, wines, and beer, including two Korean beers. The OB is recommended. Great place."

  • "A few times a year I have Korean BBQ in Korea Town & always enjoy the experience. When Living Social offered a discount for Bann I bought it, as the restaurant received positive reviews (for a good reason). We were 5 and had a lot of fun cooking our food and discussing what we liked about each. The service was excellent. A bit expensive for Korean options in NYC but definitely a good option, and I'll go back."

  • "Went with a friend just to catch-up and I thought it was an ideal place to have light/serious conversation in privacy despite a full house. The food was very good, large portions (I ended up carrying some of mine home), and very quick and efficient service. The crowd was energetic, but not obnoxiously loud."

  • "Bann is a favorite of ours--my husband and I love the eel on hot stone appetizer, and the grilling is always fun and delicious. Top quality meat and fish, wonderful noodle and rice for the grilling-squeamish, too."

  • "Upon arrival the hostess tried to sit my friend and I at the 'Kitchen Counter' when there were PLENTY of open tables in the dining room. I'm not sure if that was because I asked for the 'Restaurant Week' menu which is NOT to be confused with the "FEED ME FOR FREE AND SIT ME AT THE KITCHEN COUNTER' menu. I was displeased initially, especially after a long day at work. It worked itself out in the end. Our waiter was decent as was the service throughout the rest of the evening."

  • "This was the first time our group had been to Bann and we will definitely return! Our server was extremely helpful and the food was excellent. We tried the Restaurant Week menu including the crab and leek wrapped in spinach crepes, the pork belly bun, pork ribs in chili sauce and the carrot cake for dessert. Everything was delicious but my personal favorite of the night was the pork ribs. The meat was so tender it came right off the bone and the sauce was downright addictive. From the description in the menu I was not too sure about the carrot cake but our server highly recommended it and he was right....the cake was incredibly moist and sooo good. Be sure to make a reservation. It was packed and we saw several people get turned away."

  • "I came here for Restaurant week, and I do not have a single complaint. The food was amazing! Everything was so flavorful and delicious. The service was perfect. Not overly attentive where it gets annoying, but present just the right amount so we were never waiting for anything. The ambiance was great. I would HIGHLY recommend Bann!"

  • "My wife and I arrived on time for our 6:30 pm Friday reservations and were told it would be 10 minutes. There was no room at the bar, so we stood by the entrance with many others. We saw several other couples (at least one who arrived well before us) get fed up with waiting for their reservations and leave - one very angrily, leading me to believe they'd been waiting for a long time. Finally, at 6:55, a group of three that came in 10 minutes after us were seated ahead of us. By 7:00, 30 minutes after our reservation, no movement towards getting a table, so we left. I felt bad for the hostess, who was obviously swamped, but it seemed to be a systemic problem and lots of people were upset."

  • "I went there during the RW with my friends. We were surprised by the large portion they offered. I don't think everybody could eat up all the three-course."

  • "Food was exceptional, but appetizers were sooooo small and ridiculous!"

  • "I've been to Bann several times for dinner, but we came for lunch on Sunday because we were going to a show. However, we were disappointed because it was obvious they were short-staffed and as a result, service was not good, although the food was excellent. The waiter explained that it was Restaurant Week and they are normally not very busy at lunchtime."

  • "The misses and I had a wonderful time at this lovely establishment. We were fortunate to have picked this restaurant for restaurant week in late February, which was also conveniently located next to the theater for the iLuminate show (also worth checking out)."

  • "Had short rib, nothing special. It was cooked to be soft and tender, but lacking in flavor."

  • "Visited Bann with a few friends for Restaurant Week and everything we tried was exquisite (a word I rarely use). The salmon was delicious but the cod was like butter melting in your mouth...definitely will be returning!"

Just thought the Food was just " ok" definitely have had better Korean but good for value. Would I go back? Probably not.. But it was definitely worth a try. Overall experience was good... • "Five of us went to dinner having reserved a table for 5 in advance and having called to confirm our reservation . Table we were given was a tiny table for four with another seat jammed at the end. Although we requested more space we were refused. When the food started coming the servers could not fit it on the table and had to then make us stand up and add another table. We asked at least three times for water refills and never received them. The mandu was the worst I had ever had; more like a mandu shaped empanada than real mandu. Pa jun was thick and seemed like it was made of flour not mung bean. Table was so poorly lot we could not see the food well enough to tell whether it was grilled enough."

  • "I had dinner with my boyfriend and we both had the V-Day prix fixe. It was $45 and came with an app, an entree, and a dessert or glass of wine or champagne. We shared a bottle of wine as well. Everything about the food was great. We both had BBQ. I got the short ribs. The hibachi grill experience was a lot of fun for sure. The wait service was very attentive without being intrusive. Overall I had a wonderful evening and it was quite a romantic night."

  • "I have zero complaints about the food and experience, however the only negatives about the restaurant was their small list of choices and it's high cost. The food was amazing, the service was superb, and they also supply great Sake."
