Diner Reviews
  • "I've been here several times now and tried something new each time. The food is outstanding. Presentation and taste are class A. This is not your average hotel restaurant. The service staff are knowledgeable, attentive and know the menu inside and out. Crispy white shrimp appetizer is fantastic, salmon, halibut, walleye and filet have all been outstanding entrees. Portuguese Olive oil cake was delightful. Even the bread is outstanding. Really an under-appreciated gem downtown."

  • "Celebrated my fiance's birthday on a Monday. Not crowded and excellent. Great food and drinks and outstanding service. We will return for another great meal and also during Happy Hour."

  • "I liked the setting of this restaurant a lot. The service was impeccable, with good suggestions, and the food was delicious. No complaints."

  • "I so enjoyed the Bank Restaurant's food and ambience! We all preferred walleye pike and it was superb! The side dishes were also the best! The Bank is on my short list!"

  • "The amazing salads make up for the sometimes lack luster service."

  • "The venue was absolutely empty on a Friday night. This was concerning to me as this was my first experience at the Bank. I loved the structure, the food was excellent however VERY small portions for the price. For 3 people my bill was close to $100.00 a piece including 4 glasses of wine, no dessert, and middle of the price meals. This also included tip. We left and we were all still hungry. I ordered a fine glass of wine, was billed for it however found out when I ordered my 2nd glass, that the Gustofson was "not what was poured" The waitress then brought what was "poured" and I had never heard of the wine. We will be trying another venue and am not sure I would go back for dinner. The facility looks amazing and is unique."

  • "We love the ambience of this restaurant. They renovated this space before "reuse" became a trend and they did a marvelous job. The food is good, not spectacular. Service is very friendly. It is a wonderful space to relax and enjoy a good meal."

  • "I chose The Bank because its conducive to having a quiet business chat, and that hasn't changed. I like the ambience there - its quiet booths are terrifically situated for conversation. I think things overall are okay there, but not great. But - this would not be a restaurant to take a client to who you wanted to impress. Menu is somewhat limited but okay - again, not great. Service poor."

  • "Read reviews before we went and wasn't sure how it was going to be but it was great. The food was amazing - I had the best filet oscar ever and my husband had the NY Strip that was equally good. The service was great - attentive yet not overly so - which is perfect. Just a great experience and we will definitely come again."

  • "Servers were competent but uninterested. Food was ok, but not worth the $125 plate ( no wine) we spent."

  • "They didn't seem to know I had a reservation, or else they were just not very communicative. Put into an awkward half round booth when tables were open everywhere. Chicken pot pie was somewhat dry. Waited too long to have payment run once I put out my credit card. I've been several times because it's convenient and I can always get it. Every single time, there is something disappointing about the experience."

  • "The food was absolutely superb (off menu lamb chops). Kudos to chef! On a Tuesday night, bar was vibrant and alive. Private dinner meeting rooms were mostly full. Regrettably, many empty individual tables . . . at least one of which was occupied by a couple of guys with computers and papers! The Bank space remains an architectural gem, but signs point toward what otherwise should be one of the fine dining spots in the Twin Cities turning into just another hotel restaurant. Understaffed service, at least for the individual tables. Hopefully, weekends are better."

  • "The brussel sprout salad was unbelievable. Bravo, BANK. Crab cakes were exceptional, as was the Mac and cheese. My main dish, the Filet Oscar, was medium-rare - I asked for it medium-well. The filet was fattier than expected. That was the only complaint. Love this place - will definitely return. Service was also exceptional."

  • "Gina our server was amazing. So attentive, knowledgeable and sweet. Made the experience even better! The food was all great. We ate a lot-beet salad, tortilla soup, cheese curds plus our entrees ribeye and filet Oscar. We will definitely come back!"

  • "Our recent dinner at BANK was a wonderful experience. The space is lovely, very open and chic, not traditional at all. The service was very attentive throughout. We both had different risottos; my scallops were to die for and the other was delicious but might have been a touch too salty. The passion fruit dessert is a must."

  • "I came here for a Valentine's Lunch to get away from the busy dinner crowd, and I am glad I did. the staff was nice, the overall atmosphere was fresh smelling, clean, very nice. I would definitely come back here to at again for lunch or Dinner."

  • "The food was average. Nothing that my group had was memorable but not bad, either. What stood out was the I attentive service that we got on a night where there was only about half a dozen patrons. No one was present to great or seat us on either side of the open restaurant, despite our reservations. We just sat ourselves at the bar. There was slightly better service but we had to ask our waiter to order even though we were sitting right in front of him."

  • "I made a reservation here for a double date on Valentine's Day and found the overall experience lovely. I thought that the location within the Westin lobby was weird because the hotel guests were walking around in their sweat pants. I was definitely not expecting that kind of ambiance but the NY Strip was fantastic, so no complaints there. The entire plate really worked well together with the mushrooms, steak, potatoes, and sauce all in one bite. The Shrimp Linguini has a sausage in it that I thought tasted overseasoned and salty. The wait staff seemed to have a motto of "less is more" BUT they were efficient and not bothersome. I would absolutely go here again for another special occasion, too pricey for a non-special date but delicious."

  • "I made reservations for 2pm because I wanted to miss the crowds in the evening on Valentines Day. No one greeted us at the entrance for at least 5 minutes. Finally a bus boy seated us, followed by another bus boy "serving" us but rudely. Finally, after a long wait we got a real server that actually had a pleasant demeanor but despite it being fairly empty in the restaurant we had little attention. I was very disappointed in the service. I hope it is only because we came at an odd time and that hopefully the service is better during the evening."

  • "This was our first time going to BANK and overall I was very impressed. The place is located in DT Minneapolis in what looks like the old lobby of the Westin Hotel. The interior is very nicely designed although it is very large which takes away from some of the intimacy. Service was decent, although a bit slow at times, but where BANK really stood out was the food. The food was absolutely fantastic; it tasted wonderful and the portion sizes were above normal. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend."

  • "We went to BANK for Valentines dinner on the 15th. We had an early reservation so it was quiet and we were seated right away. Our server was cheerful and was able to answer our questions about menu items. She also went the extra mile to get the drinks we wanted. We both ordered the NY Strip that came with Yukon gold puree and mushrooms. The steaks were very good and mine was cooked exactly right. The mushrooms were FABULOUS! We felt welcome and relaxed with no time pressure at all. I am very glad I choose BANK and look forward to going again,"

  • "I brought my date to BANK for dinner on Valentine's day and we had a pretty good experience. We were seated immediately and our server got to us fairly quickly. Our server did not introduce himself and he was a little awkward but he did a good job nonetheless. We had the Risotto to start and while it was good, it was very salty. My date said her salmon was pretty good and it was cooked very well. The pan roasted chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious but the skin was so salty it was inedible. I would have sent it back had we not been short on time and had somewhere to be. I just removed the skin and ate the rest of it. Overall it was a good experience and service was done well, but some of the food needs a lot less salt."

  • "If you love salads you'll love BANK's lunch! But don't worry if you don't want a salad, they have a great variety of other foods. BANK is my favorite downtown lunch spot. Stop by and see what I mean!"

  • "Ate at The Bank for lunch on February 5 2014. Both of us had salads and the portions were very substantial. The service was fast. The scene was primarily business people in groups of 2 or 3, but there was a very large group of 10 that seemed to be well accomodated. The only downside to dining here in the winter months is that it was very cold. There is not a good way to regulate temperature in this restaurant, due to structure of the building."

  • "Whated to go to this restaurant for it's historic significance, as my mother worked there in the early 1950's. Enjoyed the restoration, staff was well informed of the renovation. The food and service was excellent. Only complant was our seating for a drink prior to our dinner seating. We were near the front doors and a subzero draft came through eveytime someone entered or exited."

  • "I took my mother out after seeing Cabaret at the Pantages Theatre, The only downfall... it was Super Bowl Sunday and we were among a half dozens patrons during our 2 hour bar/dining experience. I can see where this would be a very upbeat place on a Friday or Saturday night and I can't wait to go back!"

  • "This was such a classy and comfortable restaurant. The ambience and decor was beautiful and interesting look at. BANK's menu had a nice variety of choices to pick from. The NY strip and Walleye was delicious and satisfying. The service was great and attentive. We will definitely be back to try other options and check out their Happy Hour."

  • "My husband and I both had savings accounts at Farmers and Mechanics Bank when we were young children so it was fun eating there right by the old teller counter. The food was very good. He had a filet and I had salmon. We also took advantage of their "bankers hours" happy hour for wine and appetizers. We will go there again for a night out!"

  • "Our evening at Bank was wonderful. Neither of us ordered a main course as we were enamored by the starters and appetizers. Between the two of us, we ordered five, which provided much more than enough food for dinner for two. The deviled eggs were delicious and inventive. Risotto was creamy and had an incredible tooth. The mussels were excellent, and the inclusion of corn and other vegetables in the broth was a pleasant treat. White shrimp melted in your mouth - you almost don't even know they were lightly fried. The beet salad was huge and was, perhaps, the best we've had anywhere. Making it with frisee made a real difference. Finally, the chicken tortilla soup was superb. Service was really good. All in all - great evening."

  • "We had a Dinner for Two Travelzoo deal and were pleasantly surprised to find out from the waiter that we could order whatever we wanted and the full value of the deal would be taken off our bill. This was nice since we had our young children with. Bank has kids meals which was a plus. The ribeye and filet were good and the service was great. I would love to come back with a group of girlfriends for happy hour."
