Banana Leaves Asian Restaurant and Sushi BarMy Favorite Asian Restaurant in DCMy friend and I got the Scallion pancakes, delicious. We also share the Eggplant dish and the Honey Peanut Noodles, both very nice . It was a very pleasant diner.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful AsianA fantastic meal with Indian, Chinese, Thai... We loved it! Best restaurant we ate at in DC the whole weekend.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Asian foodThe restaurant is tucked away among storefronts. The downstairs is a bar, and the restaurant is upstairs. We were seated immediately by friendly staff. The menu is extensive, spanning much of the Asian cuisines. I had the Banana Leaf Rice, and my wife had the eggplant. Both were absolutely outstanding. We shared a fried banana for dessert -- a banana covered by a wonton wrapper and fried. It was very good, although I didn't think the crushed peanuts on top quite fit in. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. We felt the prices were very reasonable, given the quality of the food. Our reservation was fairly early in the evening, and it was quiet when we arrived, but the noise level was increasing as we finished4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience for a tableGreat experience for a table for 8. My husband and our two kids enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. We sat in the front window table - which was awesome. Our server was exceptional. We thought the dinner was a reasonable price for a delicious dinner.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for my birthday alongWent for my birthday along with 10 friends.. The food came all together, waiter was attentive, able to manage and went out of his way.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant Surprise!Just finished a wonderful meal at Banana Leaves Asian Restaurant. Have been in DC for a week and this was one of our favorite meals out. A great, varied menu and we tried a little of everything. We dined with our 3 kids and had the seaweed salad (good but typical), hot/sour soup & egg drop (yum), Malaysian red curry (excellent), Thai Fried Rice (excellent), assorted nigiri sushi (good), and low mein noodles (excellent). We also had the sticky rice with mango for dessert and found it to be some of the best we've ever had. No gloppy mess, instead, a steamed banana leaf filled with sticky warm rice with sweet slices of mango on the side. All of this food, plus two cocktails and tea for the kids for a very reasonable price.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen looking for a restaurantWhen looking for a restaurant for my upcoming birthday dinner I went to Open Table and just looked around for what was available. I decided to try Banana Leaves because the menu looked good and the prices were very reasonable, but the restaurant was so much more! The decorations are really cool and the ambiance is very relaxed and casual, perfect for me and my large group of friends. All of the food was great, everyone loved their dishes and they came out quickly and fresh. The menu has a great variety of appetizers, meat, and noodle and rice dishes. I would definitely go back!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
