"Having grown up in neighboring Pakistan, I know a thing or two about good Afghani food. Unfortunately, Bamiyan failed to deliver anything close to resembling that.
We got the Mantoo (beef dumplings) for app. They were decent but nothing special.
One friend ordered the Paneer Sabzi veg. entree and it was nothing more than boiled spinach with salt. Bland and unappetizing.
Another friend ordered the Kaboli Chicken and that was also bland.
My wife got the Chicken with walnuts and pomegranate juice. At least this tasted like something but the walnuts were sorely MIA.
I got the Paneer with Lamb and not only was the lamb scarce the dish was bland once again.
If you like to have more than just salt and pepper on your food don't bother."

"As much as I really enjoyed my night at Bamiyan - the atmosphere was great, the service was great - the food was really very very bland. Having just come back from a trip to Afghanistan, I was longing the "flavorfulness" of the local cuisine. But was sadly met with a dish I could have easily made myself at home. None of the authentic Afghan flavors were there :/

Great place/atmosphere? Yes. Real Afghan food? No."

"Being a vegetarian, there were handful options considering that it is an Afghan restaurant. The Afghan bread was very fresh and tasty. Portions were good for one person only. Good for private dining."
