Diner Reviews
  • "Bambino's was sort of OK. We booked having read the reviews which on the whole said it was good, but really didn't agree with them. The ambiance was fine, as was the service and the price. The food was the issue - rather underwhelming. It has been a long time since we have eaten such bland and under-seasoned food, e.g. fillet mignon and smashed red potatoes that have clearly never been in the presence of any salt. My husbands pasta was so bland/dry that he didn't manage to finish it, something I don't recall ever happened in the proceeding 15 years we've been together! We have had much better food for a similar price elsewhere in San Francisco. I would not recommend Bambino's and I doubt we'll be returning."

  • "The homemade organic basil linguine with lemon- olive oil sauce was so fresh and so delicious! The special canoli dessert and the special organic spinach salad were exceptional. Great Italian food!"

  • "Made a last minute reservation and glad I did. Started with the calamari (has to be the best in town) and a pea and radish salad, both with so very fresh and delicious. Then 2 of us had the sturgeon and 1 had the linguine with clams, both were well prepared and also delicious. Finished with the chocolate bread pudding (we all shared), tender moist nice flavor balance, not too sweet, just a great dessert. It was a hot day for us in SF so we ordered the Cade Sauvignon Blanc and it went perfectly with our meal. Food was well prepared, tasting and very generous portions. Service was professional with a smile and personality. In conclusion, just a wonderful dining experience, we will definitely return."

  • "The friendliness and attention was perfect. The food was made to order and the serving size was generous and mouth watering. A great relaxing and satisfying experience. You need to always leave room for dessert as they are freshly made on site."

  • "We go there time and again -- for lunch, dinner, just two of us or out of town friends. The salads and the pasta are wonderful. The mixed seafood dish really outstanding! There is no pretension, kind of low-key, just a nice place where the food and service are dependable. Great Italian wines and periodically there are extra good wine deals. They always have a big, stunning bouquet of flowers on the bar."

  • "We come here often for consistently excellent food with an accommodating kitchen that lets you substitute. Their chicken dishes are a great value. But! we miss your wonderful chicken cacciatore! please bring in back! Thank you! Wonderful pasta, pizza and specials! The wait staff are perfect."

  • "Just a great spot! Pizza was delicious - toppings fresh and dough well cooked. Staff was excellent to us and we had two five years olds who were not angels. A very welcoming feel."

  • "We chose this cute neighborhood Italian restaurant for our belated Valentine's celebration. The oak furniture and Italian ceramics coupled with our exceptionally cordial server, Sam, made this a memorable night. We ordered mussels in garlic broth, eggplant parmiagana, and thin crust pizza - all tasty and delicious. Dessert was cannelloni with strawberries and afogato - espresso over ice cream. Recommended for a special meal, not too overpriced, with attentive service."

  • "Babinos is ok, the food was not super good, it's more like a neighborhood restaurant, familiar, no special. For what you get I felt it's a little expensive. Nod bad eh"

  • "I'm Italian and was looking for a good, authentic place, and Bambino's is it! I loved the atmosphere and the fact it was in a neighborhood area of SF, which was really cozy. It's reasonably priced too! I'll be going back!"

  • "Even with some new wait staff, Bambino's maintains great, friendly service and delicious food. Their homemade seasoned olives alone are worth eating here for! First time for gluten free pizza: amazingly good! Another 5 star meal."

  • "Loved Bambinos! The quality and quantity of the food for the price cannot be beat...worth every cent! Staff was so wonderful and accomodating. BEST EVER fried calamari in all of SAN FRANCISCO. Bamino's is now one of my favorites! Will return soon and recommend to all my friends!"

  • "A great little neighborhood Italian restaurant! We were a party of 7 with 2 youngsters and sat comfortably near the front of the restaurant. We shared the fried calamari which was a huge serving of nice crisp calamari rings and curly bits The little ones ordered the pasta with butter and cheese, with one asking for tomato sauce in which our waiter gracefully obliged. The rest of us had the lasagne which was also huge, linguini with clams, the waiter's recommendation and a good one at that! We also had the cajun pasta which was nice and spicy and two nice thin crust pizzas. All were very tasty! The atmosphere was neighborly as well as festive. A very comfortable setting and very enjoyable dinner. Will definitely go back!"

  • "We recommend: Gluten free pasta with marinara bolognese is excellent! Their pizza is delicious: the crust is just the right amount of soft, chewy, and crisp. It was a quiet Monday night - so Bambino's was laid back. Three of us had the feeling of being at home, warm and cozy, with fresh home-made food. We love this restaurant!"

  • "We had a great dinner here. Place and staff are nice. Appetizer of calamari was good. Perfectly fried. The special salad with chicken and bacon was okay but the salad is nothing too special. I wished we order the butter lettuce with apple salad instead. What was great was the pasta dishes. The noodles were al dente perfectly cooked and paired with the meats and seafood. Sauce in the pasta is excellent. Better than a lot of pastas restaurants in North Beach. I love my clam/mussel linguine. I would come back to chow down on more pasta dishes. Kudos to the chef. Also, wine list is nice and pairs well with the pasta dishes and seafood. Yum."

  • "I had the special fish meal, black cod, served in a casserole bowl with green olives and cherry tomatoes in a light broth. Just the most wonderful fish I've ever eaten. Pumpkin cheese cake was the most creamy lightly spiced cake that literally melted in my mouth. I've eaten at Bambino's often and the food and service just keep getting better, keep up the GREAT job Bambino's."

  • "I celebrated my 44yrs bday with a few friends and family. Our service was excellent. I ordered the Fettuccini spicy creamy pesto dish with mushrooms. It was very tasty and full of flavor. I've been to Bambino's several times and this was by far my favorite dish. I've gone back to being a vegetarian so this dish was perfect to have."

  • "Consistently great food. Their red sauce is not overly seasoned, which I am a huge fan of. The only thing I wish for was the ability to order small sides of pastas with my protein."

But their sandwiches looked amazing! (really big..) Their mocha is huge and good. The sevice was very friendly and attentive. Gret place for lunch in this neighborhood."

  • "I found Bambino's thru open table and did not know what to expect. I knew the area around Cole and Parnassus and expected parking to be difficult but I lucked out and found a space 1 block away on Sat night at 7:30. The restaurant appeared cozy and inviting from the outside. The waiter was top notch; pleasant and helpful when needed. All food from appetizers to main dishes were fresh and tasty. The tiramisu and coffee topped off the evening. We left the restaurant fully satisfied and happy. We would definitely come again and Bambino's come's highly recommended."

  • "Bambino's has become our go-to resstaurant on our last night in San Francisco. The pizzas are superb with a host of topping options. The mozarella caprese salad is delicious...we don't get that great a fresh mozarella back home! This time I had the penne with Amatriciana sauce. It was awesome! The service is very good in spite of being exceedingly busy. The rest room is adjacent to the kitchen which is a little disconcerting...but hey...you get to see some great chefs at work. Bus lines 6 and 43 make it easily accessible; it's a great neighborhood."
