Diner Reviews
  • "Went here on the recommendation of a colleague. Started with the corn soup, nice and creamy, and the stuffed peppers, a little bland. She had the scallops, the corn/bacon medley it was served on was very good but a little salty. I had the pan seared chicken, excellent! The chicken was cooked perfectly, the skin was crispy and the grits and spinach were great partners on the plate. Overall, a good meal, would good back if invited."

  • "The appetizer was terrible! Then we waited an hour and fourteen minutes for the entrée. It's sad when it gets to the point that you are so hungry and bored that you're timing things."

  • "Corn Bisque was a surprise. Hearty and savory with mild heat. Wedge salad as expected, pork belly was a good complement. Summer vegetable medly with goat cheese ravioli and arugula was first entree. Good construction, pasta hand-made, sauce amount just right. Taste was very good. Enjoyed grilled meats. Short ribs also tender. Thanks."

  • "We love this place...the food has been near-perfect lately and the service good as well. We'll definitely be back!"

  • "As soon as I walked into Bambara, the experience was five-star throughout. The hosts were quick to find my reservation and very kind. Our food was amazingly quick, and our waitress was fantastic. The restaurant has a very comfortable atmosphere with classy taste. The best part, however, was the amazing food. I have not been to a restaurant with food this delicious in a long time. I also tried just a bite of my date's entree and I can confirm that both of them were very very good. I would recommend this to anyone!"

  • "This restaurant was chosen due to its location to Capitol Theater; however, it exceeded our expectations! The service was remarkable, the presentation of it was first-class, and the taste was spectacularly delicious. We requested a window table and got just that; the black and white decor was very inviting, and the restaurant was impeccable. We would definitely recommend this restaurant very highly and look forward to the next time we can return to it."

  • "Frankly, we were expecting more elegance and better food for the price. $15 for a Sazerac (without Absinthe, at that, because they didn't have it) is outrageous, as is $14 for a lettuce salad. My entree, five small seared scallops, cost $39. My wife got five small cheese ravioli for not much less. We felt that the food was good, but not outstanding in any way that would justify the price, especially since the atmosphere is more like that of a diner or cafe than that of a fine restaurant."

  • "The service here is excellent and everyone is friendly and kind, efficient without being pompous and knowledgeable about the food being offered and generally a pleasure as they make you feel welcome. I enjoyed it so much that I ate there twice in the two nights that I was there. What a treat! Thank you!"

  • "I experienced a beautiful dinner when out with a friend. We shared a cheese plate then we both had Heirloom tomatoes which were decadent. This was followed by scallops over risotto for me and prawns and tuna for my friend. All my dishes were weel presented and tasted spectacular. My east coast friend was not as thrilled with her shrimp at were overlooked, but the other courses made it up. We both tried the Butter ice cream. My preference is still salted carmel. But they say anything with Butter is better."

  • "This excellent restaurant located in the lovely Hotel Monaco in a historic bank building gets nearly everything right (except the mediocre mac n cheese). But you'll have to rob a bank to enjoy a no holds bar feast here. 4 admittedly tasty (to say the least) crab-stuffed piquillo peppers, pork tenderloin, and seared chicken, all wonderfully flavorful, went just over $100 without alcohol. If money is no issue, highly recommended--delicious food and very good service in interesting surroundings make it almost worth it. If you are on a budget, excite ur taste buds elsewhere."

  • "Great, lively atmosphere. Food was amazing all around. Followed a recommendation from here to get the blue cheese chips, they were awesome. Summer salads were sweet and well balanced. Loved the mac & cheese. We were there for my wife's birthday and they personalized a menu for us, a great personal touch and an idea of how good the service is here."

  • "The appetizer and desserts were average but the main courses were quite good. However, given the price point I expect every course to be top notch, not just the main. The tab came to $140 for the two of us without alcohol."

  • "This is a great spot for a work dinner, varied menu with great cocktails and good wine list. Blue cheese potato chips are a great app!"

  • "The food was amazing. I had the sea bass and my husband had the fillet. We started with the tuna tartar. The wine list was great. They personalized the menu with our anniversary. However, I sort of thought they would comp dessert for the special occasion which they didn't. It was overall a great experience."

  • "A fabulous dining experience at Bambara. Sat at a small table next to the kitchen which made it fun to watch the cooks at work. Executive chef and owner Nathan Power was keeping a close eye on the kitchen and wandered over and helped me make my food choices. Fun to meet him and nice of him to do so! Food was fabulous. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend! Will certainly return!"

  • "I just recently started incorporating some meat back into my diet after not eating it for quite some time. I decided to have my first experience with beef at Bambara because of the local and organic ingredients used. Let me tell you, the filet mignon did not disappoint! So delicious. My partner and I have dined here a few times now and have enjoyed it every time. Expensive, but good, healthy food sometimes is. Delicious!"

  • "Excellent meal - the scallops were wonderful and paired beautifully with a side of kale which both looked and tasted delicious. The presentation was just perfect and the wine recommendations from the waiter complimented the meal completely. Service was great, not rushed and we had plenty of time to make it to the theater on time."

  • "Food delivered to table was incomplete. Server and host both noted that and neither corrected it. No coffee refill offered. Server noted the order had never been completed when he delivered the check prior to it being requested and still did not offer to correct order. Restaurant was not busy and we had allowed ourselves plenty of time for brunch prior to theater but it felt like they couldn't get us out fast enough. We were in and out of Sunday brunch in 45 min! No offers of mimosas etc. Very disappointed!"

  • "We eat here every time we attend an event at Capitol Theatre. They are always accommodating of our time constraints for a 7:30 curtain. Food is high quality and flavorful. Valet parking is a must and is only $5 when you eat there. Perfect location and atmosphere for a perfect evening."

  • "The service was outstanding from the start - warm, welcoming staff and fantastic food. The watermelon salad with divine...interesting texture and delicious. Fish was cooked to perfection, desserts were decadent. The cost of dining here is relatively high, but the food and service justify the cost."

  • "We took a friend out for Birthday Brunch before going to see Wicked. Bambara was her favorite part of the celebration. We loved the Hotel Monaco, the food was fantastic, beautiful presentation, the waiter was just right. Friendly and fun but didn't try to entertain us (that's happened in the past at a different restaurant). Bambara has become my family's go to restaurant for special occasions."

  • "I have consistently been impressed with the Kimpton family of restaurants and Bambara did not disappoint. The space is very cool with the very open kitchen the centerpiece of the restaurant. All of the dishes that I tried were top notch with a great combination of flavors that sometimes you would not ordinarily put together. Stand out dish for me was the bone marrow toast."

  • "Everything that was ordered was delicious. Something as reasonably mundane as chicken and Mac n cheese was gourmet and so wonderful you'll be surprised! Left there stuffed full because I couldn't quit eating!"

  • "This place was amazing! Jake our server was the best. Very attentive but not pushy at all. We started with the Blue Cheese Chips and an off menu Clam appetizer and we both enjoyed both of them. Then I had the Sea Bass and my wife had the Pan Seared Chicken, both entree's were fabulous, we shared the Crab Mashed Potato's. So much flavor in every dish that was prepared. Don't grab for the salt and pepper before you taste your meal, it won't need it!!! Overall, just a great experience!!"

  • "I made a reservation online since the last time I went I was turned away by an hour plus wait. the next day I was sent an e-mail stating that I would be penalized for a no show. My drink was forgotten. I had to grab a manager to ask for it since I couldn't get ahold of our waiter. The manager didn't seem to happy that he had to get me an Arnold palmer. The waiter (chip) came by to take our food order. We didn't get a sense he could tell us much about the entrees other then what was written on the menu. We ordered. 15 minutes later Chip came back again to take our order for the second time. We reminded him that we already ordered. He ask for the order again..... Lunch took almost an hour and a half. Not sure I'd being coming back."

Chef Nathan Powers is a powerhouse in the kitchen and we just love checking out the regularly changing seasonal dishes he creates. 5 Stars!!!"

  • "Bambara never fails to deliver on the several things that really differentiate great restaurants from the rest: quality of the food, service experience, and ambiance. We celebrated our 22nd anniversary and couldn't have been more impressed. We were surprised to be greeted upon checkin and wished a happy anniversary. In addition, the restaurant had printed a special menu wishing both of us a happy anniversary. The manager had called me ahead to ask how to spell my wife's name. Really above and beyond in my mind."

We both ordered something completely different from one another and sampled it all. What a palate of tastes. We were extremely satisfied and would highly recommend Bambara to everyone."
