This was a wonderful place to celebrate my wife's birthday. When we checked in, the hostess wished her a Happy Birthday and we received special menus that said Happy Birthday (wife's name) on the top of the menu. The food choice were interesting, unique, and very welcomed. Everything was delicious, from our crab stuffed peppers (a recommendation from our attentive yet not intrusive waiter), to the entrees. Dessert was amazing. All around, a very delightful place to spend the evening.

I love this restaurant and eat here whenever I am in town. The service is excellent and the food is equally excellent. I have never had a bad meal here. Everyone is so efficient, accommodating and kind. The food is so very good that whatever I eat here is so good that I wish to have it again the following day. This is my favourite restaurant in Salt Lake City! Thank you!

Went to Bambara for my 3 year wedding anniversary. The service was excellent and the food is some of the best I've ever had. My only minor complaint is that we weren't quite sure where to walk in. We entered through the east-facing door and there wasn't any staff there. It felt like we'd walked into the back room, so we walked back out and went around through the hotels main entry. I'm sure it was just bad timing, but still, a nice sign to direct people would help.

We celebrated my wife's birthday here. The service was excellent and they brought a special dessert for her. New menu and the food was good but it was pretty expensive for 5 people. Our son got married at the Hotel Monaco. We preferred to take the wedding party to Bambara but it was Valentine's Day and they could not accommodate us. I like this restaurant but I think, they need to look at entree prices - $41 for 5 scallops I thought was a bit much.

Went here on the recommendation of a colleague. Started with the corn soup, nice and creamy, and the stuffed peppers, a little bland. She had the scallops, the corn/bacon medley it was served on was very good but a little salty. I had the pan seared chicken, excellent! The chicken was cooked perfectly, the skin was crispy and the grits and spinach were great partners on the plate. Overall, a good meal, would good back if invited.

Corn Bisque was a surprise. Hearty and savory with mild heat. Wedge salad as expected, pork belly was a good complement. Summer vegetable medly with goat cheese ravioli and arugula was first entree. Good construction, pasta hand-made, sauce amount just right. Taste was very good. Enjoyed grilled meats. Short ribs also tender. Thanks.

As soon as I walked into Bambara, the experience was five-star throughout. The hosts were quick to find my reservation and very kind. Our food was amazingly quick, and our waitress was fantastic. The restaurant has a very comfortable atmosphere with classy taste. The best part, however, was the amazing food. I have not been to a restaurant with food this delicious in a long time. I also tried just a bite of my date's entree and I can confirm that both of them were very very good. I would recommend this to anyone!

This restaurant was chosen due to its location to Capitol Theater; however, it exceeded our expectations! The service was remarkable, the presentation of it was first-class, and the taste was spectacularly delicious. We requested a window table and got just that; the black and white decor was very inviting, and the restaurant was impeccable. We would definitely recommend this restaurant very highly and look forward to the next time we can return to it.

  • Overpriced, not that good.
    Disappointed
    Dined on 8/17/2014
Frankly, we were expecting more elegance and better food for the price. $15 for a Sazerac (without Absinthe, at that, because they didn't have it) is outrageous, as is $14 for a lettuce salad. My entree, five small seared scallops, cost $39. My wife got five small cheese ravioli for not much less. We felt that the food was good, but not outstanding in any way that would justify the price, especially since the atmosphere is more like that of a diner or cafe than that of a fine restaurant.

I experienced a beautiful dinner when out with a friend. We shared a cheese plate then we both had Heirloom tomatoes which were decadent. This was followed by scallops over risotto for me and prawns and tuna for my friend. All my dishes were weel presented and tasted spectacular. My east coast friend was not as thrilled with her shrimp at were overlooked, but the other courses made it up. We both tried the Butter ice cream. My preference is still salted carmel. But they say anything with Butter is better.

This excellent restaurant located in the lovely Hotel Monaco in a historic bank building gets nearly everything right (except the mediocre mac n cheese). But you'll have to rob a bank to enjoy a no holds bar feast here. 4 admittedly tasty (to say the least) crab-stuffed piquillo peppers, pork tenderloin, and seared chicken, all wonderfully flavorful, went just over $100 without alcohol. If money is no issue, highly recommended--delicious food and very good service in interesting surroundings make it almost worth it. If you are on a budget, excite ur taste buds elsewhere.

Great, lively atmosphere. Food was amazing all around. Followed a recommendation from here to get the blue cheese chips, they were awesome. Summer salads were sweet and well balanced. Loved the mac & cheese. We were there for my wife's birthday and they personalized a menu for us, a great personal touch and an idea of how good the service is here.

However, I sort of thought they would comp dessert for the special occasion which they didn't. It was overall a great experience.

A fabulous dining experience at Bambara. Sat at a small table next to the kitchen which made it fun to watch the cooks at work. Executive chef and owner Nathan Power was keeping a close eye on the kitchen and wandered over and helped me make my food choices. Fun to meet him and nice of him to do so! Food was fabulous. I just recently started incorporating some meat back into my diet after not eating it for quite some time. I decided to have my first experience with beef at Bambara because of the local and organic ingredients used. Let me tell you, the filet mignon did not disappoint! So delicious. My partner and I have dined here a few times now and have enjoyed it every time. Expensive, but good, healthy food sometimes is. Delicious!

Excellent meal - the scallops were wonderful and paired beautifully with a side of kale which both looked and tasted delicious. Food delivered to table was incomplete. Server and host both noted that and neither corrected it. No coffee refill offered. Server noted the order had never been completed when he delivered the check prior to it being requested and still did not offer to correct order. Restaurant was not busy and we had allowed ourselves plenty of time for brunch prior to theater but it felt like they couldn't get us out fast enough. We were in and out of Sunday brunch in 45 min! No offers of mimosas etc. Very disappointed!

I made a reservation online since the last time I went I was turned away by an hour plus wait. the next day I was sent an e-mail stating that I would be penalized for a no show. My drink was forgotten. I had to grab a manager to ask for it since I couldn't get ahold of our waiter. The manager didn't seem to happy that he had to get me an Arnold palmer. The waiter (chip) came by to take our food order. We didn't get a sense he could tell us much about the entrees other then what was written on the menu. We ordered. 15 minutes later Chip came back again to take our order for the second time. We reminded him that we already ordered. He ask for the order again..... Lunch took almost an hour and a half.
