Diner Reviews
  • "Celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary. Very romantic. Great food and service. Highly recommended. Will go back."

  • "Very competitive price point. Especially if you consider the quality food and service received and this was just for lunch! Looking forward to dinner there soon."

  • "We had a group of 7 pretty particular people, ordering a broad selection of food (appetizers, entries & desserts with drinks). Everything was exceptional. The flavors & presentations surpassed expectations…delicious! Our group arrived close to closing and they were beyond accommodating, not rushing us at all and friendly to the last moment. "

  • "I came here because i was celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. I thought the service was really fast and the waitress was wonderful. The food was good, but not as refined as it sounded on the menu. My boyfriend got steak frites and i got the king salmon. The worst part of this restaurant is the atmosphere. It is way to casual. It felt more like an upscale burger joint than a fine dining restaurant. The interior decor felt like i was seated at a burger bar booth and the music was too loud and weird space techno music was playing the entire time. I felt like the setting and music were distracting and made the experience feel cheap even though the food itself was expensive. I prefer quiet restaurants that have a sophisticated atmosphere."

  • "My wife and I have talked about eating at Bambara for a couple years but just haven't made it happen. We were looking for a last minute option and it was super easy to get in compared to many of the popular restaurants in the area. The food was excellent and the services was impeccable. The price was a little steep, but it has become our new "nice" place to eat. The environment was the perfect mix of refined yet personal."

  • "My mom was visiting from CA and I wanted to impress. This was the perfect place to take her. The cheese plate was wonderful. We had the salmon and beef fillet. Both were spectacular."

  • "Dinner was great. Service was great. All was good. You will love the Bambara experience."

  • "Great food and service. A must go to when in Salt Lake City."

  • "I was charger $40 for 2 oz of Macallan 12 year old scotch .. What a complete rip off. Wife had gnocchi that resembled bread pudding and tasted as such. My chicken was over cooked and tasteless . Dinner bill for aforementioned along with a coors light was a hundred bucks with tip. Insulting . Will never go back...this place is way beyond its sell by date and preys on unwary diners who may remember or recall when once this place did matter."

  • "We had a really good experience at Bambara--excellent service, food, atmosphere, and experience. Would definitely recommend and go again."

  • "Great restaurant. Beautiful space. Creative, delicious food. Service is, in general but not universally, great."

  • "I was staying in the hotel and took my Salt Lake City friend to lunch as it was her birthday. We had a wonderful lunch, the staff was very accommodating as we were 30 minutes late from my original reservation. Our food was delicious, friendly waiter, and they comped the dessert. I had breakfast the next morning. Again, they were very accommodating as I had to leave for the airport and my breakfast was tasty and served promptly. A great spot!"

  • "Interesting menu items, and not a single one was a disappointment. The roasted mussels were a particular delight! Only one small note: the wine I ordered (an Albarino, by the glass) seemed a touch on the old side.... not enough to send it back, but not quite the bright Albarino I was expecting. Everything else was beyond expectation."

  • "The bone marrow- mushroom toast which was amazing. The beet salad with super creamy goat cheese was fresh and flavorful. The two of us we're sharing tonight and I can speak for both of us, the Beef tenderloin and the Scallops were great. But for us the thing that was most memorable was the bone-marrow mushroom toast. OMG we want some more. Will definitely return again soon."

  • "Fantastic filet and scallops. Fun server with great suggestions. Only small issue was the somewhat stale bread that was served with our ahi tuna tartare, but we agreed that the bread wasn't even necessary with the dish so no deduction there (we also informed our server, who was apologetic and receptive to the feedback)."

  • "We have eaten here 2 yrs in a row following our annual ski week. The food is terrific. Blue cheese chips, wedge salad, roast chicken, crab mashed potatoes, fingerling potatoes in duck fat, asparagus rissotto, tuna tartar, all just delicious. A big pre theater. (Jazz) group next to our cozy booth did not effect service or atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone in a suit OR upscale jeans! Sure to satisfy all."

  • "We're in our 70's and needed to treat ourselves to a night out.We started out with good valet service then good cocktails, great dinner, tickets to a Jazz Concert at Capital Theatre and returned to retrieve our car.It was a great evening. Scallops were amazing."

  • "We celebrated our 20th at Bambara. We got there early & ordered a couple from the bar; I had a blood orange martini & she had a bloody Mary. My drink was good, but hers was stellar! Our waiter was very attentive & knowledgeable. We ordered the tuna tartar appetizer & it just needed a couple more pita crisps to finish it off. Then I ordered the sea scallops & the wife ordered the iron seared chicken. The chicken was straight from heaven! Everyone should have this at least once! We then finished with Rebecca's Fillo Crisp & the Turtle Ice Cream Sandwich; of these the ice cream sandwich was a chocolate dream! With drinks, dinners, desserts, & parking.the total bill was just shy of $200! They even customized our menus! Definitely recommend!"

  • "Absolutely amazing food. I had the scallops that were cooked to perfection and my date had the chicken with mac and cheese. Creme Brulee quite literally stopped my heart. Food was well prepared and placed perfectly before us by an superb waiter who kept our interests peaked and glasses full. Ticket was high but our ticket was long with appetizer, entrees, and desserts. I will recommend Bambara to anyone who is headed downtown with an appetite for fantastic food and even superb service."

  • "We love our dining experiences at Bambara before attending events at the Capitol Theatre. The food and service is always wonderful. They are very good at timely service, yet have a relaxed, elegant style that adds up to a memorable evening."

  • "The service and food were absolutely wonderful! We were celebrating a birthday and it was a nice touch to have "Happy Birthday" at the top of the menu. It was very noisy however and made it difficult to hear a conversation. I would encourage everyone to dine there!"

  • "My son and I have visited Bambara on two occasions. He's always had a mature pallet and we love the flavors at Bambara. We specifically requested we sit in the main dining room where the "action" of the kitchen is visible and our request was happily granted. Thanks so much for taking care of us and letting us share our dishes. We enjoyed everything from our Blue Cheese House Cut Potato Chips as an appetizer and our Ruby & Golden Beet Salad, Chevre Cream, Walnuts, Arugula, Orange~Walnut Vinaigrette Salad to start…all the way to the end of our night when my son and I split the Turtle Ice Cream Sandwich while I enjoyed a warm cup of coffee….Yum!!"

  • "This IS one of, if not the very best restaurants in the state. We enjoyed the tuna tartar appetizer ~ it has beautifully balanced flavor of lemon and basil, with other complexities I can only guess. The baby spinach salad also was done to perfection, with a lovely presentation, and once again, such a balance! With a delicious combination of balsamic dressing, apples and almonds that I felt I was in heaven. My main course was the salmon, on a crab-potato mash that completely carried me away. This is one restaurant where you will gratefully pay the "fine-dining" premium ~ the artistry and flavors of the food combined with the wonderfully warm ambience of the Hotel Monaco will completely meet (and very likely exceed) your expectations!"

  • "We come here for Birthdays, Anniversary's and any other special occasion because the service is always superb, the food is always delicious and visually appealing, and we like staying in the hotel as well. It's hard to decide what to order because everything sounds so good. We usually share so we get a taste of at least two entree's. The desserts are fantastic as well. We've never had a bad experience at Bambara, that's why we keep coming back."

  • "We had a great time at Bambara, from the time we sat down until the time we left. The atmosphere, food and service were all wonderful. We hadn't been to Bambara for a couple of years, but we'll definitely add this place back to our regular rotation and will be back again soon."

  • "Not the best restaurant, especially for the price. The waiter didn't give us the best vibe. He just didn't seem very inviting. The one at the table behind us did though. The fried calamari was very good. My steak did not come cooked to my specifications but since we didn't have a lot of time my husband and I just switched meals. Very likely won't be coming back."

  • "Good experience at Bambara. I won't say my mine was blown which is why I gave 4 stars vs. 5, but I enjoyed our experience. Service, food, and ambience were all very good. We started with the cheese board which I loved. Moved onto the filet which was delicious, and finished up with the banana tartlet. The tartlet was alright, not my favorite. I think I was expecting something different. I sampled one of my co-diner's breme brulee - fantastic!"

  • "Food is really good. I had pumpkin ravioli with mushrooms, wife had tuna and scallop cassoulet. Both entrees very good. The beet salad I had to begin with was also very well done. Service was excellent. So, what were the (small) problems? The bread served was nothing special for my taste, and the espresso at the end of the meal was undrinkable, was sent back. The ambiance (in the Monaco hotel is pleasant, if not exactly intimate. Prices are high, which leads to the recommendation of "special occasion""

  • "The service was very good. As mentioned in previous reviews the food was excellent. Most importantly I had mentioned when reserving our table that is was our anniversary. They printed our menu's with "Happy 10th Anniversary". It was so thoughtful, and an excellent added touch to make our day even more special! Thank u Bambara... we will be celebrating many more anniversaries with you!"

  • "All the reviews seem great about this place and me and my fiancée love trying new restaurants but this was an overall let down compared to other fancy type restaurant we have tried . Food wasn't very good the menu was different from what they offer online. Service was probably as good as it could get due to the fact our server had lots of other tables to take care of. The seating is terrible you feel like everyone around you can here your conversation and not very much space to breathe! All in all is say about the worst 100$ I have spent in a Resturant."

  • "Had dinner for our anniversary. Reservation was for 10 p.m. Admit I was expecting the place to be winding down... not getting the best service, food. But hey it was late. I couldn't have been more wrong! Service was the best and our plates were as excellent has can be had in SLC. Wife was tickled with special touches like menu with our names and congratulations."

  • "Usually skip hotel restaurants as a general rule but other open table diners reviews convinced me to try Bambara on recent visit to SLC. Unique setting in converted bank building. Bar housed in old "vault". Menu was great. Handled food allergy limitations without a hassle and enjoyable meal. Recommend for downtown dining!"

  • "nice place for a quiet lunch or business lunch where you need to talk. sophisticated environment, quality food. Their daily lunch specials are always good, but they make so few of them that they are more a tease than a special."
