Ballou's in Guilford is one of our favorite places. The ambience is warm and inviting. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. The food is excellent (the Tiger Cheese Fondue is our favorite)without the need to take out a second mortgage. My wife and I just enjoyed celebrating our 8th Anniversary there and the experience was exceptional as usual.

I discovered Ballou's last year when working in Madison. What a delight! Wonderful wine, paired with excellent food, reasonably priced. The energy of Ballou's is welcoming, the staff quietly helpful, and the patrons all respectful of each other. Children are welcome and dogs may come to the outside seating. Cheers!

Our server had a very humdrum attitude when he welcomed us. When we asked him what he would suggest off the menu he shocked us all with "i've been here for years and am tired of eating all the same thing all the time" plus he mentioned that his family owned the place. Yikes! His lackluster performance contined throughout the meal. We ordered truffles And one glass of red wine for dessert so we could pair the wine and chocolate. The dessert arrived but the wine did not make it to the table until after dessert was over so we sent the wine back. It was a less than stellar visit.

This restaurant has an outdoor and indoor area. We sat outdoors. Service was slow, but pleasant enough. The food was disappointing. Especially the "thin whole wheat bread" which turned out to be a Thomas's commercial thin sandwich bread, and the cheddar on the hummus sandwich, which also turned out to be yellow American cheese. And not much sign of the red pepper spread either. On the whole, dispiriting.

Our first dinner at Ballou's was terrific, but this Father's Day family celebration missed the mark. Our first waitress seemed annoyed at my elderly father's menu questions, so we requested another waiter (he was very good). The food was good but not great this trip.

I have been to Ballou's in Guilford many times, and the food is always outstanding. Out-of-town friends who visit frequently always choose Ballou's over other local restaurants and those in neighboring towns.

This was my 3rd visit in 2 months to Ballou's and each time has been a great experience. The food is wonderful, great variety whether you won't a little snack, sandwich, salad or meal, none has disappointed. And the wine list is impressive. Looking forward to returning many more times.

Ballou's is a great little restaurant that I was told about last year , since my first visit I have been back several times, and each visit the food was fabulous. The menu is so diverse there is something for everyone, and the Chef who I believe is the owner produces the delicate flavors of each dish. Great wines and certain days there are specials, with wines and meals. It is small and the acoustics are not the best, but has a great upbeat feel and I know I will be back

A intimate bar/restaurant with a great ambiance. The fondue was excellent & our dinners were also very good. Loved the wine flights! Chenot sang & she was great! Not too loud, just perfect. The only con was out waitress. She was not the friendliest.

Everything was wonderful, presentation of the food, the service, presentation of the wine and wine flights. Our server was fantastic and very friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and wine options. I wish they had a Ballou's in Massachusetts or Rhode Island!!!
