  • "The food here was wonderful and the scene made it that much better. It was well worth the time and money to have a dining experience like this!"

  • "We visit this place a few times a year and always find it to be an excellent dinner spot. This time we had the experience of choosing from their new menu. All of the new choices looked good and the dishes we ordered were very tasty. As always, service was great and you cant go wrong with the Bay View."

  • "If you can get a window table, or outside don't miss the opportunity! Bali Hai has a great view of San Diego. From downtown to the mountains, the ocean, Coronado, the airports, and Mexico. The food is very good. Do the brunch on Sunday to capture the spectrum of what they have to offer."

  • "The brunch was great, i'm not fond of buffet style anything but the actually food quality was pretty good. The view was fantastic and I will definitely go back when I'm in town!"

  • "We had made a reservation at 5pm because we heard they had a great happy hour. Happy hour does not apply to the dining room and we were not invited to go to the bar. We were told they would give us happy hour prices-they did not. We ordered the appetizer sampler, and yes, the coconut shrimp was amazing, but the ahi poke looked like it had been sitting around for a couple days. The texture and flavor pretty much confirmed that. It was obvious by the waitresses reaction that it was not a welcome thing to only order appetizers and drinks. I have never been in a restaurant before where we were made to feel uncomfortable. It was strange-and we'll never go back, even though we vacation in San Diego every year."

  • "Great choice for an early dinner prior to a concert close by."

  • "food was ok--nothing fantastic, but good, seemed to be properly prepared. They did have a decent variety of selections. If you're going here for quiet --not here--at least for Sunday Brunch---this is a noisy dining room due to the shape of the building/roof. Nice view if seated at a table near a window. The Service was good. If I compare cost to quality of food -a bit overpriced, but worth going here just for the experience..."

  • "Bar scene too noisy and patrons dressed too casual for the dining room area. Food ample portions. Parsnip soup delicious . Green salad nothing special. Cod buttery and delicious but green beans not of high quality. SeaBass wonderful and huge portion but didn't like the sauce with the vegetables. High ambiance potential for view but way too noisy for a special night out."

  • "We booked an early time in hopes of getting a window table and were able to. The view is spectacular. Food was very good, seemed to be some menu changes since our last visit. We like to come here as a treat."

  • "I always take out of town guests and family here for Brunch. Cannot beat the view. Food is great. Service is always exceptional! Everyone in my party loves the place and always asks to come back."

  • "Great restaurant. Only complaint is that due to architecture, it can be very loud. Also, they are able to fit large groups which compounds the issue. Otherwise, great food, nice service, awesome view of San Diego skyline."

  • "Not a bad table in the house. Service was top-notch. The view is unforgetable. The food was very good, and the Mai Tai's are some of the best around."

  • "Made a reservation for Sunday brunch and arrived at 945. I think a perfect time. Seated at a window with a 180 view of the city and bay! Greated and served perfectly! This was our highlight to this and many other trips to San Diego. My only disappointment was that after the spectacular food and champagne I chickened out and didnt have there famous Mai thai. My mistake. If you havent experienced the Bali hai for sunday brunch.....Do it!!! The resturant began to fill up around 1100. We enjoyed a TWO HOUR brunch with excellent service, food and scenery. One of the best San Diego food and value. Enjoy"

  • "I made reservations 2 days in advance and requested a window seat. I called to confirm my request for a window seat but they could not promise one aseveryone requests one. When we arrived I checked in and asked for a window seat. The hostess said if you can wait a few more minutes I will have one for you. We got our window seat and had a perfect evening. It is a bit loud inside so it is hard to have a conversation without raising your voice. All and all it was a good time and will go back again for sure."

  • "We went for their Sunday brunch and the food and selection was great. We all ate more than we should have, but despite the slight discomfort from our after eating tight clothes, it was all we could talk about for days. They kept the buffet tables neat, well stocked, and everything we ate was fresh and delicious. The waitpeople kept our drinks full. If you like seafood and/or breakfast food this is the place to go. The view of San Diego Bay and the city skyline is beautiful. This is a good place to take out-of-town guests."

  • "My husband and I recently moved to the area, so we haven't had a chance to explore many restaurants. However, some friends came to town for business and we wanted to take them somewhere where they could appreciate the beautiful San Diego we now enjoy, and I found Bali Hai online. I had called in advance to request window seating because they do not take seating requests online. We had early (5:45pm) reservations for six on a Friday night. The place was not crowded when we arrived, yet service was slow and the food was just okay. However, the view was lovely and that made up everything else."

  • "I definitely like this restaurant, great dining area, great scene (window table), server is nice, great food. We went there on Saturday night, supposed to be very busy, but even so, server is taking good care of us, food is on-time. We recommend this restaurant to our friends and family."

  • "with a spectacular view of downtown San Diego. The food is Hawaiian / Polynesian and it's pretty good. Our dinner guest had the mahi mahi and he liked the dish. I had the walnut shrimp .. which was .. good, but I like the walnut shrimp at Panda better. My husband had the sweet and sour chicken which is always a good dish."

  • "Great San Diego location - on the water, view of downtown and harbor. Menu is tropical/polynesian - not extensive, but good selections of appetizers and fish entrees plus daily specials. We brought out-of-town guests. They loved the view and the food. We had four different fish entrees and an appetizer to share. Portions are reasonable and all of our food was perfectly prepared, tasty, and presented beautifully. We were there on a Sunday about sunset; place was not full, so the noise level was fine for conversation. When it's full, I would expect it to be noisy. Service was good for everything except the second bar order. For some reason, my second glass of wine took forever. We will bring guests here again."

  • "The location, ambience, food and service were all excellent; however the noise level was horrible and made conversation almost impossible. This is really a shame as the restaurant has so much going for it. I had a cracker crusted salmon which was delicious and my husband had scallops which he enjoyed. The other couple had the salmon and steak which they said were excellent. Based on our experience, I would suggest going here on nights other than the weekend when the crowd will be less thus the noise level acceptable."

  • "I took my boyfriend here for his birthday because I wanted a nice seafood restaurant. The food was amazing, the drinks are amazing (and amazingly strong!), and the view is amazing!!! Staff were all friendly and polite and we were given a table with a great view because I made a reservation. I would definitely return, had a wonderful experience, not one complaint!"

  • "This is a beautiful restaurant, with views of the water and San Diego. Our waiter was very solicitous and informative. We had not been here since our vacation here 40 years ago and it was just as good as our memories."

  • "We missed the Polynesian food, but we were quite pleased with the current menu. Our guests from Rhode Island and Northern California were impressed. The waitress was very friendly and helpful."

  • "We have been to this restaurant during the week and we would do that again. BUT SUNDAY IS BEDLAM!!! Fit for Foodies: absolutly not. Good for groups. Sunday is one big group. Great for brunch; NO Kid Friendly: Too much so. Romantic; You have to be kidding"

  • "The food was outstanding, to match the view. Had two elderly women who could hear, which was a novelty for restaurants that are usually too loud and chaotic for hearing aids."

  • "It's a beautiful place with a wonderful view of San Diego harbor and skyline. The first time I went, I really liked the food. Then the second time just okay. Now the third time, and I was really let down. But maybe I ordered the wrong thing--the sashimi salad. The seafood was good, but the salad dressing was so salty I couldn't eat it. Way over priced for lunch, too. Maybe I won't be back for a full meal. But it is still a good place to go for happy hour."
