  • "I wouldn't have known about this restaurant if not for Open Table, because I found it while hunting for a place to make brunch reservations. So glad I did, though! Lovely view of the water and pretty ambiance. Nothin to complain about for the food, and can't beat the bottomless mimosas."

  • "We had our Thanksgiving meal here last year and decided to have our 53rd Wedding Anniversay dinner here this year because we enjoyed that one so much. The service was great as well as the food and wine. The flowers I ordered were waiying for us on the table and started the evening off excellently. We'll probably have this year's Thanksgiving meal here as well."

  • "The food, atmosphere, and service were awesome. The view we had of the marina and boats made it all the better. After dinner we spent the rest of the night in the bar with live music and friendly bartenders. Highly recommend BALEENKITCHEN."

  • "Went here for a nice dinner on the marina and was not disappointed. The food was very good and the service was prompt."

  • "I played a couple of times there but never been as a customer till the other day and I must say... great service!!!"

  • "food, service and view are very good, i will go there again."

  • "First time dinner at Baleen Kitchen. Ate from the DineLA menu (really good deal). Salmon, short ribs and the steak filet. Very good food, the setting was very nice and the service was like the yelp reviews...... could be much improved. As for a return visit - it would be very expensive to eat from the regular menu. So will probably wait"

  • "Went for Dine LA, there was live music in the bar which was lovely. Great table with a harbor view by the large open windows. Food was good, I would say slightly overpriced if we weren't taking advantage of the Dine LA deal. Half price bottles of wine which was an unexpected treat. Pass on desserts, neither of which were worth the calorie splurge."

  • "Food was great. I was there for dineLA and got the clam chowder, short rib and chocolate cake. The short rib was excellent! Service could have been much better. The restaurant was not very full yet the waitress was very slow to bring our wine pairings out with our food and she was not very attentive."

  • "The food and service are always nice but the marina view is the real draw."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "Service was friendly but extremely slow. Seating and view were wonderful. Drink menu was good if that's what your going there for. Dinner, however, not so much.....Ordered: Chicken lettuce wraps with ginger sauce - literally tasted like nothing but cold lettuce. Even ginger sauce was very bland. Looked appetizing but no taste at all. Mixed Veg Salad with added Grilled Shrimp - mixed veg salad was nothing more than iceberg lettuce, some chopped cukes and a few tomatoes. Grilled shrimp were decent size and fine. Would not go again even though staying at hotel right there in same lot - would rather walk down block to Joes crab house."

  • "Walking distance, great food, terrific ambience, and a fun bar to relocate to afterwards makes Baleen a perfect choice every time."

  • "Lovely table, generally the food is pretty good and our last meal here was quite good. This time not so much. Overdone steak."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "We went for a late breakfast with some business associates from Canada. We sat on the patio overlooking the harbor. The service was good and the food also good. It was a little pricey for quality, but overall we were pleased."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "We were booked at portofino hotel. The service was not good. We requested for room cleaning which was not done. The airconditioning was not working well. Baleen was not as expected that you see online. It looked so classy but it was quite disappointing when we were there."

  • "Great food recommendations from our server! Lunch was great and I've gone for Breakfast and it was outstanding :)"

  • "We brought our granddaughter to Baleen's to celebrate her 12th birthday. Everything was perfect. We were given a choice table at the windows overlooking the marina. The server was lovely, attentive (especially to our granddaughter)and brought a complimentary desert at the end of our meal. The food was great. Everything was perfect. "

  • "They say it's brunch on Sundays but it's just a regular breakfast meal! We could have gone to a real brunch place."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "We loved the view of the harbor from the beautifully-appointed dining room. The massive fireplace was lit providing a warm atmosphere; service was impeccable. The coffee, though strong, was delicious. We ordered pork sliders, lobster mac & cheese, burgers and a cheese appetizer plate. All were very good. We were not hurried so the experience was excellent."

  • "The food was excellent with a nice view of the marina. I've been wanting to try it but with so many other choices I never got to. I had several other places in mind for this evening but they didn't have a table available for the time I wanted so I decided to try this place. I'm glad I did. The food is flavorful and there's a variety of choices to fit everyone. I would definitely go back again! "

  • "We had a great Easter Brunch dining experience. The only thing that baffled us was that they wanted to seat us away from the scenic windows when there were tables available. According to our hostess, there were no tables available when the restaurant was half empty. We had to insist to be seated by the windows to get it."

  • "not a formal dining experience. Dress code is casual, boat wear. Food was very good, no complaints there. View of the boat docks was very nice. They could expand on their menu a bit more is my only suggestion."

  • "It is a very pretty space. Food was very good, but perhaps a bit on the pricey side. Drinks were very good. Entrees came out a bit quicker than expected, but perhaps we should have requested it to be paced a little slower. It is a nice restaurant, but it does seem that you are paying for location, as it sits on the marina. We were there for dinner, but it would be nice to try for brunch. "

  • "This was the second year in a row we had our anniversary dinner here. We have made a habit of ordering 5 - 8 different tapas and salads and have a wonderful experience doing so. This year, the lobster slider was my favorite!"

  • "Usually I'm not a fan of hotel dining, but more and more hotels are leasing their prime property to good chefs, This is the case at the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach with BALEENkitchen: a lovely spot in the Redondo Marina. We took relatives from Napa, who work in the wine industry, to brunch. Coffee came in a carafe for the table, so we didn't have to wait for refills. Service was prompt and professionally friendly. We all tried the Pulled Pork Benedicts, a traditional Eggs Benedict, and the asparagus omelette. Our plates were clean at the end of the meal. Enhancing our morning were the bottomless Bloody Mary's from the make-your-own Bloody Mary bar. A fun treat and we took advantage! Parking easy. We would return to BALEENkitchen."

  • "The service and food were outstanding, our waiter was very knowledgeable about the entree choices and preparation. We had 3 different menu entree choices and all were great. I definitely will return and recommend to friends."

  • "Well run restaurant with a fabulous manager. We had a wonderful time. We did not expect a hotel based restaurant to be so good. Fantastic view was an added bonus."

  • "There are plenty of items on the menu to choose from. I am a foodie and I was hoping for a little more gourmet for the price."
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "Good food, good service, but noisy. It was difficult to conduct a conversation, even with the person seated next to me."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "Baleen seemed to have good reviews, so we tried it on a recent trip. Our food was mediocre at best. The salad wasn't very fresh, the meats had been over-marinated and over-seasoned. Being by the sea doesn't mean you have to add salt to everything. The view of the marina is scenic, but two out of four chairs we sat in were broken and saggy. Our server and the staff were polite and attentive without getting in the way. They need to improve their food quality."

  • "Excellent selection of Tapas plates and appetizers such as lobster sliders, smoked trout. Entrees were equally well prepared and presented. Pork chop was done perfectly with an exquisite balance of flavors."

  • "My wife and I went to Baleens for a nice Valentines prixe fixe dinner. They were offering a 6 course Prix fixe menu with optional wine pairing. The plan looked good and we ordered the dinner with the wine pairing, but the execution was terrible. We sat down a little after 7 and did not receive our dessert (the 6th course) until after 10. We waited a minimum of 20 minutes between courses and the waiter kept apologizing for the delays saying the kitchen could up keep up with the orders. Some of the courses were excellent: the ravioli, amuse bouche, the duck and the dessert. The sea bass was very bland and the beef tenderloins were lacking any significant flavor. I doubt I would eat here again even if they offered it for free."

  • "This is a great location and the menu is varied. The food execution is not always consistent, but we like the place and go back. The bar scene is busy depending on sports schedule."
    Dined on 2/11/2014
  • "The food and service were good. It is too loud to be considered romantic. As far as price goes, you can certainly find better for the price."
