Food and service and view were quite good...Restaurant was quiet but ambient noise coming up from the bar below was most annoying and disturbing....Some man had obviously been at the bar for a veeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrry long time and it showed by the loudness of his voice and conversation. It REALLY disturbed our meal in such a lovely setting.

Food was good, and the location right across from the Academy of Music is superb. Our waiter was very poor. But the manager was obviously aware of the problem, as he personally refilled our drinks and such. Other waiters were doing much better around us, so we will give the place a try again.

With the demise of Ted's and Ernesto's, Balcony has become a very convenient place to eat before anything at the Kimmel, the Academy, the Wilma or the Merriam. Nice broad menu, pleasant service -- and you get a discount if you show them your tickets. And if you sit at the edge of the balcony, you have a great view of the lobby and Broad Street.

I liked the special greet at the door and always love overlooking the baclony onto Broad Street. Customer Service is excellent. Intimate for two, great for groups as well. I loved the pre-fix theatre menu, especially the prime rib and the strawberry shortcake.
