  • "We went her to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and everyone on the staff of the restaurant made the evening totally special. We ordered the cauliflower, the fired olives, a special of blistered shisito peppers (dipped in an exotic mix of Middle Eastern spices, and the special ceviche as appetizers. The special salmon main course was unbelievable with a dill yogurt sauce that was sublime. Others had the chicken under a brick and the sea bass. Desserts were delicious, too. We have never had a dish here - over many visits - that we thought was anything other than completely satisfying, and which left us wanting to lick the plate clean."

  • "Balaboosta is a refreshing and delightful place to enjoy dinner with friends. Bring lots of them as you'll want to try everything on the menu. Service is friendly and efficient. Dishes to try: Roasted cauliflower (even if you don't like cauliflower you'll be blown away), ceviche, market salad, hummus, grilled whole dorade, brick chicken, steak, and lamb. Don't forget to leave room for the desserts, especially the chocolate pudding with crunchy surprise on the bottom, and the kanafe dessert."

  • "Get ready for an amazing experience. We have been to Balaboosta 5x and plan to go back soon. My appetizer tip: everyone loves the Hummus & pita, but be sure to ask for the homemade Cassava chips to have with it. For main dishes, you can't go wrong with the options --recently we had Tuna ceviche, lamb chops and the fish special (dorade) --all great. And if you like dessert --save room for that too is a specialty. My one regret is that the wine list leaves much to be desired, however, I would bring your favorite wine and pay the $30 corkage fee to insure that the meal represents all around perfection! Finally, be prepared to sit next to another table, but fear not --we've had great experiences with the other clientele for 4x out of 5x."

Could use some rearranging of the setup, but other than that a cozy, nice spot for dinner."

More to try and will definitely be returning. Wish there was something like this in Chicago. Loved the open kitchen and use of the cutting edge stove. Amazing staff."

  • "What a great place, the food was far better than I expected. We were a party of three had a window seat which we were happy with. We ordered 4 small plates, hummus, eggplant, lentil & zucchini fritters and fried olives. One was better than the other. I ordered the short ribs, my two friends ordered the chicken under the brick and the Pappardelle. Of course we tasted each others and again each dish was just fabulous. We just enoyed the whole dining experience, the server was very attentive and knew the menu. We also had a drink cannot remeber the name but the server recommended was a big hit, different then the standard bar menu. Cant wait to go back again!!!"

  • "I had heard so many great things about the food and ambiance. I booked a table for 2 on Wednesday. The waitress just seemed irritated with us the entire time. She was not engaged in describing wines by the bottle or the main dishes. Our food selections were ok: zucchini starter, pappardelle and short rib. The short rib was by far the best but it was hard to enjoy with a male waiter's behind in my face while he tried to serve the table next to me. Other things that aren't a huge deal but added up made our experience disappointing: plates being cleared before we were finished with food, wine not being poured regularly, wine glasses being grabbed before we finished. It was just uncomfortable. For better food and ambiance I'll stick with Alta."

  • "The title says it all. Balaboosta is our favorite restaurant in New York. We go there for nearly every special occasion, indulging in chef Einat Admony's impossibly creamy hummus and incredible crispy cauliflower (the best dish on the menu). We've tried most of the menu and have never had a bad bite of food. We tend to stick with the small plates and appetizers, while sharing one entree. Try the lamb pasta -- it's ridiculously good. The same could be said for the berry crumble dessert. I won't bother trying to sell you on Balaboosta. Just make a reservation and go."

The only negative thing I would say is that the restaurant is on the smaller side to the tables are pretty close together. However, for the quality of food I had, it did not make a difference at all!"

The price is right here. Tight tables, small space cause long waits. What this chef has done with making middle eastern food is a welcome guest at my table. This just goes to show everyone that food does not have to be complicated and expensive to be delicious. Bathrooms disappoint. Two nicely appointed water closets in the back. But for a small place like this, I guess they are what you would expect. This is one of my favorite eating spots.Stret parking after 7 pm. WIGB? Yes"

  • "We regularly eat here, and each time, there's something else that impresses us. We had two of the specials - grilled octopus as an appetizer, and lamb kebab as a main. Plus two of the regular menu items - Israeli market fair - a delicious sandwich with fries and pickles, and a curry seafood main dish. The service is attentive and friendly. Can't wait to go back."
