Balaboosta is a refreshing and
delightful place to enjoy dinner with friends. Bring lots of them as you'll want to try everything on the menu. Service is friendly and efficient. Dishes to try: Roasted cauliflower (even if you don't like cauliflower you'll be blown away), ceviche, market salad, hummus, grilled whole dorade, brick chicken, steak, and lamb. Don't forget to leave room for the desserts, especially the chocolate pudding with crunchy surprise on the bottom, and the kanafe dessert."

Great option of mediterranean
food. I knew taim already (which is great), but Balaboosta is obviously something else."
Dined on 4/12/2014
Addiceted to Crispy Cauliflower
here! Hope they have more appetizer with meat and seafood. Also wish wine pours could be more generous, even quartino didn't make one glass...and expensive."
Dined on 4/7/2014
Delicious healthy Middle Eastern
food with a twist."
Dined on 3/18/2014
My go to destination for an
amazing lamb burger (lamburger on their menu). Great space for a casual lunch with a great vibe to the place. Have been here many times and will continue to return as long as the lamburger is on the menu."
Dined on 4/3/2014
Cannot think of anything that they
would need to change. Very attentive service, comfortable interesting ambience, and the menu has creative versions of the normal brunch items."
Dined on 3/30/2014
I loved the food. New type of
cuisine that is healthy and good. I liked the setting and the service was wonderful"
Dined on 3/29/2014
There's not much to say apart from
Outstanding!! Incredible food and service! Highly recommended"
Dined on 3/29/2014
We loved our meal, it is too hard
for us to even chose our favorite. All of the specials were delicious. Will definately be going back again & again."
Dined on 3/28/2014
They accommodate us when we
arrived late on a Thursday night.. Awesome food. Both my friend and I were well taking card if by the chef Guy!!! :)"
Dined on 3/27/2014
The food was fantastic. We tried a
variety of dishes and everyone was a wonderful as the next. Highly recommend!!"
Dined on 3/23/2014
Disappointed. A friend that
usually has spot on recommendations pointed me here and it was just okay at best. The salad we had was fantastic, but the other bits just seemed to lack flavor and innovation."
Dined on 3/17/2014
Get ready for an amazing
experience. We have been to Balaboosta 5x and plan to go back soon. My appetizer tip: everyone loves the Hummus & pita, but be sure to ask for the homemade Cassava chips to have with it. For main dishes, you can't go wrong with the options --recently we had Tuna ceviche, lamb chops and the fish special (dorade) --all great. And if you like dessert --save room for that too is a specialty. My one regret is that the wine list leaves much to be desired, however, I would bring your favorite wine and pay the $30 corkage fee to insure that the meal represents all around perfection! Finally, be prepared to sit next to another table, but fear not --we've had great experiences with the other clientele for 4x out of 5x."

Full of young people, eating
hummus out of a mortar and served with a pestle, this is worth the night out. The cauliflower was outstanding, the lamb kebab special delicious and the chicken under a brick was moist and tender. The desserts need work."
Dined on 3/22/2014
We've been to Balaboosta before,
but Sunday night's experience was even better than in the past. The food was great, hot food was hot and cold food was cold, the service was perfect -- not too fast and not too slow -- we loved it."
Dined on 3/16/2014
Great food, busy on Thursday
night. Service was a bit slow."
Dined on 3/13/2014
Hummus, burrata and short ribs
were incredible, skate wing special a COMPLETE flop (shockingly bad). Romantic, but at the same time tables are too close together so you hear every other couple's conversations. Could use some rearranging of the setup, but other than that a cozy, nice spot for dinner."
Dined on 3/6/2014
Food - calamari appatizer was out
of this world. Also Swiss chard spaghetti, tasty!! On the entrees, chicken was one of the best I've had, whole fish was great, steak was good but not exciting. Dessert, we had the knafe, which was no good. No one seemed to care that the dessert was left untouched for 15 minutes on our table... The rest of the night the service was great."
Dined on 3/7/2014
The creation of food mixes and
culinary combinations to vegetables was simply amazing. Putting grilled asparagus, couscous and sautéed spinach sounds so simple but the spices....mmmmmm. More to try and will definitely be returning. Wish there was something like this in Chicago. Loved the open kitchen and use of the cutting edge stove. Amazing staff."

What a great place, the food was
far better than I expected. We were a party of three had a window seat which we were happy with. We ordered 4 small plates, hummus, eggplant, lentil & zucchini fritters and fried olives. One was better than the other. I ordered the short ribs, my two friends ordered the chicken under the brick and the Pappardelle. Of course we tasted each others and again each dish was just fabulous. We just enoyed the whole dining experience, the server was very attentive and knew the menu. We also had a drink cannot remeber the name but the server recommended was a big hit, different then the standard bar menu. Cant wait to go back again!!!"
Dined on 3/4/2014
Bright, fresh flavors with all the
food. Not a single dish was left behind or on the plate. I would recommend to anyone."
Dined on 3/3/2014
I had heard so many great things
about the food and ambiance. I booked a table for 2 on Wednesday. The waitress just seemed irritated with us the entire time. She was not engaged in describing wines by the bottle or the main dishes. Our food selections were ok: zucchini starter, pappardelle and short rib. The short rib was by far the best but it was hard to enjoy with a male waiter's behind in my face while he tried to serve the table next to me. Other things that aren't a huge deal but added up made our experience disappointing: plates being cleared before we were finished with food, wine not being poured regularly, wine glasses being grabbed before we finished. It was just uncomfortable. For better food and ambiance I'll stick with Alta."

Menu was great and the food was
delicious! Portions were good and perfect for tasting and sharing. Good neighborhood place- priced just right."
Dined on 2/19/2014
went for brunch - menu choices
were great because it offered brunch staples prepared with a tasty twist as well as more unusual fare for the more adventuresome. restaurant itself was very inviting.. will definitely return."
Dined on 2/16/2014
If i could I would have ordered
the whole menu, love love loved the crispy cauliflower and the cooked ribs was done perfect. I'm thinking I'm going to make it my mission to go through the entire before the end of the year actually. Such good food and service was very nice, attentive to us and very cordial."
Dined on 2/17/2014
Everything we had was amazing and
the staff was incredible! Crab cake special should be added to the menu, best I've ever had. We will definitely be back."
Dined on 2/14/2014
The title says it all. Balaboosta
is our favorite restaurant in New York. We go there for nearly every special occasion, indulging in chef Einat Admony's impossibly creamy hummus and incredible crispy cauliflower (the best dish on the menu). We've tried most of the menu and have never had a bad bite of food. We tend to stick with the small plates and appetizers, while sharing one entree. Try the lamb pasta -- it's ridiculously good. The same could be said for the berry crumble dessert. I won't bother trying to sell you on Balaboosta. Just make a reservation and go."
Dined on 2/9/2014
Every bite of food I had was
better than the last. We never order dessert but because of the amazing appetizers and entrees we had, we had to order dessert. The only negative thing I would say is that the restaurant is on the smaller side to the tables are pretty close together. However, for the quality of food I had, it did not make a difference at all!"
Dined on 2/8/2014
This is a tiny restaurant with
table very closely packed. Food was good, but not very inspired. Portions were on the small side. The wine by the glass selection was very limited. Overall pretty enjoyable, but basic"
Dined on 2/1/2014
The best chicken - called chicken
under a brick- I have ever eaten !"
Dined on 2/6/2014
Had been wanting to try it since I
bought the amazing cookbook a few months ago. Food was amazing everyone in our group enjoyed their dishes. Would love to go back and try dinner!"
Dined on 2/4/2014
I love this place! Everything was
delicious! The eggplant crostini is a must have. All the dishes can be shared. Sort of small plates. But the flavors are packed into each dish are amazing. The price is right here. Tight tables, small space cause long waits. What this chef has done with making middle eastern food is a welcome guest at my table. This just goes to show everyone that food does not have to be complicated and expensive to be delicious. Bathrooms disappoint. Two nicely appointed water closets in the back. But for a small place like this, I guess they are what you would expect. This is one of my favorite eating spots.Stret parking after 7 pm. WIGB? Yes"

Have been back several times and
everything I've had has been delicious. Interesting spices, near Eastern flavors, imaginative presentations - just a great foodie experience, for a moderate price."
Dined on 2/2/2014
Very interesting menu. The crispy
cauliflower was excellent. Bought the cookbook!"
Dined on 1/31/2014
We regularly eat here, and each
time, there's something else that impresses us. We had two of the specials - grilled octopus as an appetizer, and lamb kebab as a main. Plus two of the regular menu items - Israeli market fair - a delicious sandwich with fries and pickles, and a curry seafood main dish. The service is attentive and friendly. Can't wait to go back."
Dined on 1/31/2014
Not for sharing servings too
small. Servers should make more suggestions for the table. Unusual to charge for bread. Food was delicious and creative"
Dined on 1/31/2014
Lovely decor, delicious food,
outstanding service. The skirt steak was out of this world!"
Dined on 1/30/2014
This is a spot for very tasty food
- a particular point of view. It can get noisy but not ear splitting. So many dishes to taste. Very friendly"
