Diner Reviews
  • "They were good, the food was good the service was good, and a music venue also good. Paying for "cover" before you are seated as a couple was awkward, the guest should be able to ask that they pay as part of their bill, I understand using this method for larger parties but for a couple it feels weird. Also, the minimum order per person is quite high, you almost have to come for a full meal to make it worth your while, maybe this should be re-worked or dropped altogether."

  • "First time at Bake's Place Bellevue. Very good venue and food. The live group performing, The Paperboys, was very good, interacted well with the crowd and created a very enjoyable evening. We will go to Bake's again and recommend highly recommend it."

  • "My husband and I always have a great time here. Great music, food, drinks and a comfortable atmosphere. We brought out of town company here and they just raved about their experience. Please keep up the fantastic line-up of entertainment."

  • "Our office has heard great things about Bake's Place and the live music they have on a regular basis. What we didn't realize is that their food is also amazing! Everyone in our party LOVED their dish. Service was very prompt and polite. We were there during the day and didn't get to listen to live music so we will definitely be going back!"

  • "I am a repeat customer and have always enjoyed the food, ambiance, service, and great entertainment offered by Bake's Place. Bake's is a unique food and entertainment venue on the Eastside. The menu is ecclectic and offers interesting tastes for all palates. Food and drink prices, however, are at the high end for casual dining and entertainment."

  • "If you are looking for a relaxing and beautiful happy hour with friends Bakes is the place. Indoors the setting is comfortable and inviting. The food is creative and delicious- not the typical bar menu. Happy hour drink specials are beer, wine and wells but their special cocktails are worth it too. The outdoor patio is spacious, comfortable with trees and heaters for chilli days. Often you will enjoy free outdoor live Jazz music. Dinners are special and pricy with live music to be booked in advanced. I would not recommend the dinner time for conversation during the music performances."

  • "We hit the shows there on a regular basis. Small, intimate environment with plenty of space, not too close to each other's table like Jazz Alley. Wine list is fine, food is fine and worth having when you're there for a band you like or love!"

  • "Enjoyed the service and food. The music was a little too loud. Good place."

  • "Great Band (Dr. Funk) & good food, but feel that the price did not justify the goods."

  • "We went to Bake's Place to watch our son's jazz combo play at lunchtime. The venue is lovely and the food was good. But the portions were relatively small and it was expensive, given we had already paid a $10 per person cover. My mom's latte was $6. I ordered soup and when I asked if there was bread to go with it, I was told I could order bread for $4. We had salads, soups and burgers and, except for the latte, drank water. The cost for four of us was more than $100 plus tip. The restaurant was filled with people who were eating there to watch their kids play. The musicians were playing for free. Appreciate that they do this for student groups, but it did feel like they took advantage."

  • "The music was fun (Dr Funk) but ridiculously loud. The venue is attractive, but the food was not worthy of the place. My pasta was very plain and uninspired. After it was brought to my table, it took so long to get a fork that it was cold by the time I ate it. My husband's prawns and rice were cold to begin with. He had to send it back to get it heated. The waiter was very apologetic and even gave us a dessert on the house (the dark chocolate pudding was the best part of the meal!). Maybe they just had an off night, but it was our first time there, so not a great experience."

  • "We hosted a rehearsal dinner for 20 at Bake's and it was perfect! Menu options for everyone's palate, ambiance was comfortable for both the dressy wedding party members and casual guests, and cocktails were superb. Everyone commented over and over what a great experience it was. The staff was incredible - even as our group grew to 26, we all felt individually attended to. I will definitely recommend Bake's for more special occasions!"

  • "Great place to meet friends or bring out of town guests. I didn't even know they had a patio, what a great summertime spot! (If they could just move that one big building that blocks part of the afternoon sun it would be perfect) The day we went there was music outside until 9pm, then another band inside after 9. Great music, beautiful food and wonderful setting. No cover charge for this trip but I also came here for a birthday event where there was a band with a cover (well worth the $20). Not sure why they do not have a small dance floor because it is obvious there are people who would love to get up and dance later at night. Fun Place! "

  • "I went to Bake's Place to see a jazz band as part of the Bellevue Jazz Festival. The place exceeded all my expectations! The couple that owns it are hands-on - they meet you at the door and seat you. What a nice personal touch. I had so much fun and everyone in the place seemed to be having a great time. The cocktail prices were very reasonable, and although I just shared calamari with a friend, it was perfect! Service was a bit slow but the waiter had a large area to cover, the place was packed, and when I flagged him down he was there right away to take my next drink order. We also checked out the patio and it is amazing! This will be my new favorite place to wind down in the late afternoon into evening, sipping a glass of wine or two."

  • "We would go back in a minute. Very friendly place, upscale decor and yet comfortable enough to stand up next to your table and dance. Great setting in a quiet corner of downtown Bellevue. Large enough to feel like you are someplace but small enough to be really close to the stage. We had a great time."

  • "This is a wonderful jazz venue. The background for the East-West Trumpet Summit quintet was perfect. I'll bet the next night's was sizzling there. I plan to return. Expensive for me but worth it Wednesday night. Food was delicious and we had a great table, too."

  • "I loved the food here. It was definitely well thought out and very good. The service when I first walked in was not great. Nobody was there at the check in. There was a sign that said "please seat yourself" however how would we check in for our party? Now, I just made another reservation there...this time it made me put in my credit card to leave a reservation. I did do this but will most likely not do this again. Why would I have to put in a credit card number when they don't even take the time to greet you when you walk in and check you in. This is where I was hoping to meet my partners for biz but not sure with the above issues. With that little rant...the food was very good and our waitress was nice. Sonya"

  • "Menu changed, food quality degraded, prices tripled, $20 minimum orders per person + cover charge. I used to recommend this place to everyone. The inadequate staffing for waiting on the full floor is a serious problem. We've always spent far more than $20/pp to eat and drink, but the minimum is trashy and condescending. Many nights don't have a cover charge, but the multitude of recent dining related changes mean we will never be back."

  • "The short ribs were delicious; I wanted to sub one of the very interesting & healthy salad options for $2, but gave into the fries. Will do the salad next time. Our waiter provided thoughtful suggestions and was attentive but not in our face. He seemed to really enjoy his job. We thoroughly enjoyed the jazz from little Bill. His special guest, Paul Green, was dynamite on the harmonica and worth a trip back. Apparently he plays the first Friday of each month with his own band. "

  • "Bake's is that place that adds more to a good dining experience with bands that are fun and take you back to fun times. My filet mignon was great but my wife's trout wasn't so much. Molten chocolate desert and bacon wrapped dates appetizer were delicious. The $15 cover is worth every penny, and our waiter was great, keeping us informed when the kitchen got a little backed up. The band, Ventura Highway Revisited, does worthy covers of classics from Crosby-Stills, Eagles, America and others so just about everyone can enjoy the music (and I'm a Supertramp/Led Zepplin/Genesis fan). A great time for just about anyone!"

  • "Been wanting to see what Bake's was like for some time. Finally had the opportunity a couple weeks ago and loved it! Wonder why it took so long to check the venue out. We went again this past weekend and also just loved it! Food was great! Wait staff super friendly. The music was awesome. Can't wait to go back again."

  • "Bake's Place is a smaller version of the Jazz Alley in terms of ambience and lay-out (seating on the floor near the stage and balcony seating to accommodate a group). Too bad there is no dance floor. We did not dine at BP so can't comment on the food, but had dessert and drinks - the crème brule and bread pudding were good). As long as BP serves good food, provides good service, and continues to book talented artists who are enjoyable to watch and listen to, it has a good chance to survive."

  • "7 of my girlfriends and I went here to celebrate my birthday and we had a fabulous time. The Earth, Wind and Fire tribute band KALIMBA puts on a wonderful show and makes it so entertaining. People can get up and dance too, which we did!"

  • "Considering it was a Tuesday, Bake's was moderately busy. Love the atmosphere! The food was wonderful and there seemed to be some great choices. We had the Pork Nelly and the Duck Sliders. YUM! Drinks were good and our first server was very knowledgeable of food and cocktails. We did order wine, but our server noticed the cork was dry and thus the wine was not suited for drinking. Overall the service was good, seems like we caught them in some transition, as there was confusion checking us in and one of our many servers mixed up our bill with the table next to us. Fortunately, a nice young man noticed the mistake and saved me nearly $30! I'll definitely go back on a more lovely night and check out the music."

  • "Love Bake's Place. We enjoy the late night shows after dinner when we can have a cocktail and enjoy the excellent line-up Bake's always seems to have. Excellent stage and sound. Best for people who really want to listen to music - it's a show, not background music so don't expect to do too much chatting while the show is going on. Staff are very amiable and efficient. We have eaten dinner there only once, and it was good. But we really go for the music."

  • "Felt so spoiled getting to see a favorite NW band in such a lovely small intimate setting with really good food & service with a little space to get up and dance even when the right song played along! Enjoyed clams, pumpkin gnocchi, and mu shu to eat after lovely french onion soup-very fun and tasty all. Attentive server, even with large group also in his section especially since he and we recognized once the music starts the serving essentially starts so we can enjoy the show so he worked to get us taken care of before show. Love this band and can't wait to see them again at this lovely intimate music loving location."

  • "This was the right spot for a Friday with friends. The Gotz Low Duo played a mellow compilation of cover songs from modern artists. The tempo was upbeat and just right. No cover, but tipped the band for what it was worth. I got the feeling that there's an "in" crowd at Bake's. I was lucky enough to book a 6:45 reservation for 4 people the night before. I had broccolini and lightly battered fish while my wife had the seafood risotto. The bacon-wrapped figs were a nice appetizer, but there was unfortunately very little to them. Drinks and food were slightly on the high side, but tasty nonetheless. No mint for a mojito, so bring your own or order margaritas. I had a beer and a Hendricks & tonic. All together the bill ran us $$$107 with tip."

  • "Our group of 8 had great seating right near the stage, but a bit too near the speakers too. The smaller venue was great for the Paperboys though because they are so personable, and they love fans to sing along and dance. Dancing: space very limited and not really compatible with dinner/dining. The fine-dining was outstanding and the staff was able to keep up with the pace of serving during a lively concert."

  • "It would have been nice to have some open area to dance. We did dance but had to navigate tables. At one point, virtually everyone on the main floor was dancing but we had to navigate tables. One lady, who was there for her birthday, was a challenge to dance with and that combined with tables made me very concerned. Fortunately, I have dance experience and held her carefull y as we danced to the blues band."
