Very over priced on there drinks. The charge downtown prices and pour very little liquor in your glass. Wine prices are too high also. I ordered the prime rib medium rare and it came well done, they did replace it but it had no flavor. I will never come back!

Have been wanting to try Bakersfield for a while, so when a friend came into town, we made the reservation. Server was over-attentive and we felt a bit rushed even tho the restaurant was not crowded. Food was good but price-point did not meet quality. We had high-hopes and high-expectations, but, sadly, experience did not meet either.

My 6-year old is a sophisticated diner. Apparently, when the staff saw the 2 of us, we were put on the "2nd priority" list. After being seated, we waited so long for service that I had to ask for a waiter. Once our waiter arrived, she was pleasant, but inattentive and not kid friendly. She filled my daughter's water glass above the rim (remember "surface tension"?). That was no big deal, but after our food arrived, she tasted her food and wanted some parmesan cheese. My meal was finished before we got to ask for any--and that was after I hailed a busboy to help (he was prompt). Our waiter next approached after my meal was done--to ask whether I wanted another glass of wine. When the meal was over, we again had to wait for the check.

Bakersfield does not disappoint. We were greeted and seated outside immediately. The service was attentive and the food was exceptionally tasty. The mashed potatoes were cold but a hot order appeared shortly after pointing it out to our server. The potions were generous enough that we had no room for dessert. Our drinks were refilled regularly and inconspicuously. Loved it!

We went out for dinner to Bakersfield to celebrate my husband's birthday. The restaurant did not disappoint. We picked out a wine that was sold out and not only did the sommelier come by to talk us through alternatives, we tasted a few options to ensure we were happy with the one we selected. Would say they went above and beyond for that process. The food was fabulous - my ahi was perfectly prepared and not overdone (thank goodness) and my husband loved the trout. Flavor and presentation were top notch.

Been to Bakersfield several times. Always enjoy it. Love the shrimp and lettuce roll appetizer. The bang up cocktail is also a gem- I like it so much that I've tried to copy it at home but can never quite get it. Most of us had the knife and fork chicken which is a favorite for our group- its a big hit with us on a Sunday night. We usually go as a family on a Sunday night as it's a bit quieter with our 3yr old. Service is generally very attentive and efficient but maybe not always warm and fuzzy. Although, it was warm on this occasion. I'd definitely recommend it.

Came here with my wife for a birthday lunch. We had a reservation but it wasn't needed, as there were several available tables. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. Wish we had been hungrier so we could have tried more of the menu. We'll definitely go back here, either for ourselves or when entertaining out-of-town guests.

We did the 4-course fixed price menu, and while the grilled corn and salad were very good, the medium-rare NY strip came out mooing, so I sent it back. The replacement came back only slightly better and with a large piece of gristle on the side that an observant grillmaster would have sliced off before putting on the fire. My guess is that while the outside of the steak looked gorgeous, a high flame had our grillmaster assuming a quickly-cooked outside meant a sufficiently cooked inside.

We had the lobster sandwich and selected sides of Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. All were delicious. We split the chocolate cheesecake. We thought we were splitting a slice but we were wrong! Out came a mini cheese cake! It was delightful. We went for lunch on a Saturday at 11:30 and there were a couple other people in the restaurant. Great service- our ice teas were refilled regularly without us asking. Highly recommend for lunch.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch with friends. Thought the ambience was pleasant and was very impressed with the music selections. Friendly, welcoming service started us off right and the menu looks like it offers a decent balance with normal lunch menu and a smaller, impressive sounding brunch menu. My food left a lot to be desired, however. Spinach omelet was bland and under seasoned, while my breakfast potatoes were so salty I nearly didn't finish them. My wife got the eggs Benedict and thought it was okay. I wouldn't tell people to avoid it, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it or plan to go back myself.

Brought some friends who were vacationing here for an early dinner on a Saturday, so the restaurant was fairly empty. My guests and I all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the dessert, as well. Our server was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Plan to go back in a few weeks to celebrate a family birthday. My guest stated that when she returns for another visit, she wants to go back as she really enjoyed her meal and the ambiance of the restaurant. We also enjoyed the music being played in the restaurant. Would like to go back another time to enjoy the live music outdoors.

My shrimp w/bacon was dry and tasteless. My date's steak was OK. --- The ambience of Bakersfield was --- nothing. Didn't have a personality. Waitress was OK, as was the service. I got the impression that the manager was uncomfortable when asking how we liked the place. Sorry I can't say more positive.

A birthday celebration for a friend. Very attentive (but not bothersome) staff. We received welcome suggestions by our server. A nice variety of appetizers, and the menu is not overwhelming with choices. The food was very hot when it was brought to the table. The salmon was delicious and well presented. My friend's steak was cooked to perfection. My request for the key lime tart with a candle was brought to the table at exactly the right time. I've been at Bakersfield three times, and each time it was perfect. There was also a live band playing in the outdoor seating, yet we were able to hear it on the inside - very pleasant.

Patio's a hidden gem in plain sight. Hard to top the best table in the house - next to a huge fireplace - on a chilly summer night. Under-umbrella heaters glow red, and there's also a nice linear fireplace. Indoor ambiance equally appealing but al fresco dining shines here. Nice barrier wall conceals busy Ogden Avenue just on the other side. Wonderful smoky odor from their grill present inside and out. Delicious 3-rib pork chop can feed 2 or 3. Best yet, buy wine from sister property Standard Market across the street and there's no corkage fee to balance otherwise pricey menu. Whole experience was so nice I returned the next night, surprised by live music, and split an ok prime rib, not nearly as good as the pork chop and sides.

We recently dined at Bakersfield and had an excellent meal. We done at Bakersfield about once a month and are always satisfied but not always feeling like we need to visit more often. They did a great job on the room, warm and inviting without being too formal or too casual. The outdoor area was also done tastefully. This visit there was live entertainment outside which we could hear at our table in the bar area. They were very good. We always have found the valet service to be more of a hassle than a convenience. Who wants to stiff the valet guy but who really needs to valet park your car in a lot to avoid a 60 foot walk? The menu has been a bit stale at times and could use more dinner specials. The wait staff had been inconsistent.

Pretty pricey, especially the wines. Had the Knife & Fork Fried Chicken and it was very good, but also fairly expensive. Nothing bad to say, but there are other places to go with good food where one can spend 1/3 less. I do have to give the credit for some really good appetizers-the soicy shrip and the tenderloin sliders were very good, and with nice size portions.

I had just been to Bakersfield two nights before on the patio, which is really neat. There was live music and after dinner, we had drinks in some comfy chairs by the fireplace. As an avid Standard Market & Bakersfield (up until now) fan - I was incredibly disappointed at our experience there. Our service was lackluster, at best. Our food was under-seasoned, the coleslaw was bitter and under-dressed and the (usually fantastic) pork chop was full of gristle and literally inedible. We received a container of suger/sweetener with our coffee that was drenched in water. To top everything off, we were charged for a drink that was sent back because we did not like it. This used to be one of my family's favorite restaurants. We will not be returning any time soon.
