  • "Overpriced. Downtown prices in Westmont. We had a waitress in training being shadowed by her trainer. There were 3 waiters and 3 servers. The entire wait staff interrupted our conversation many times throughout dinner. Several times we lost track of our conversation due to interruptions. It was very annoying. Our entree was served within minutes of the salad. So, they came back and offered to keep it warm while we finished salad. It tasted like it had been under low wattage lights. Disappointing experience. "

  • "I met my friend at Bakerfield on Friday night. It was a last minute decision and it was great to be able to get a last minute reservation for two. The waiter was nice and attentive at first, however, he faded away as the evening went on. I ordered the fish and chips. It looked good but was cold. The fish was then soggy. My friends food was good and the desserts and drinks were excellent. I would go back there again to give them another shot, especially to sit outside. I think it was an isolated bad food experience. I really like the atmosphere."

  • "Great meal. Excellent server. Sweet hostess. Nice ambiance too. We both had Filets, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Filets are always very good and cooked perfectly. Brussel sprouts are delicious. We've eaten at Bakersfield at least 10 times. Brian was by far the best server we've had. He was knowledgeable, attentive, but not too much, polite, friendly and actually listened to our requests before making recommendations. Others could learn from him. Overall great place to eat although a bit pricey"

We split crab cake that came with very good salad and the steak sandwich for a little surf and turf and upgraded the sandwich side to loaded potato for a small charge. Good mix and all very well prepared - except the potato. Not hot very small and mostly butter. Almost no sour cream or bacon. I would have said something had that been ordered for the $8 ala carte price. House wines were fine. Wines are pricey as we own many of their list selection and know the retail price. Would love to stop seeing restaurants triple the retail price of wines. Big turnoff and then we tend to not buy a bottle."

  • "Expect more out of this establishment since they're tied to Standard Market. I ordered the fish & chips special, which arrived luke warm at best. The batter was heavy and flavorless--fresh lemon couldn't save this dish. My dining partners ordered the knife&fork chicken--once their favorite but now feel it isn't of the same quality. I just wish they focused on more healthful choices--don't like feeling guilty because I ate fried fish w/ french fries & creamy coleslaw--at least a vinegary coleslaw would've eased my guilt and made me feel like I ate a vegetable! Having dined here several times with a vegan and vegetarian, they don't offer many interesting choices for either. Don't see myself dining at this neighborhood restaurant again."

The staff is very friendly and helpful, they remember and greet me by name. The food portions are perfect for lunches, and prices are fair. I think the story of Standard Market and Bakersfield is unique. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good professional place to take clients or family for lunch or dinner."

It was good, don't get me wrong, but the salmon at $25 rates no better than the $18 we pay at a nearby restaurant. And $14 for a glass of house wine is steep in my opinion. The value just isn't there. Expect to pay about 15% more on total bill."

  • "My girlfriend and I ate hear after seeing a play for her birthday. Dinner was very good. For the price you receive a great meal and large serving that could be spilt if wanted. There was small mistake with my order, but they fixed it right away. They also provided a free desert for my girlfriend. The service was very good!!"

  • "My girlfriend and I went to Bakersfield on valentines day for dinner. Made a reservation, came early still had to wait an additional 35 minutes. Started with the pot roast sliders. That was actually the best part of our meal. I had the Prime rib with Mac and cheese, she had the ribs with broccolini. She ate 2 ribs, I had maybe a piece of my prime rib and a spoonful of mac and cheese, then we asked the waiter to box it up for us. Food was just unfavorable. I decided to order the fried oreos. They weren't better than the appetizer, but definitely better than our meal. However, the Ambiance was nice. Food just lacked seasons and flavor. Don't think I'll be back."

  • "Citylike atmosphere in the suburbs. For those times you have a date night but the weather, or your energy, or the parking makes you hesitate to go to Chicago. This is a beautiful place with upscale service, innovative cocktails, and amazing staff. It's a night that will stick in your memory for all the right reasons."

  • "I have dined here 4 or 5 times now. Enjoyed it each time. Service from the parking attendant, to the hostess, to the bartenders, to the wait staff--all very professional. Lots of energy around the bar. Nice selection of beers and drinks. Good cosmopolitans. Warm atmosphere. Was able to to talk with my dining companion. Appreciated that we were not rushed after our meal was finished--we chatted a bit and enjoyed the atmosphere. I like the regular menu updates every few months. Nice selection of appetiters and entres options without being overwhelming. Food was quite tasty. I feel like I have consistently received good value for the cost of the dinner."

  • "Had reservations for a very busy Saturday night after Valentine's Day. With reservations had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but once seated we had a usual fantastic meal, and service from our waiter Jack can't get any better than the attention that he pays to his customers. Also because of the delay from reservation time to seating, the manager Mike went above and beyond, what I feel was necessary to make certain we were happy with our meal and Bakersfield. When you talk about customer service, Bakersfield gets it right, and that's why I'll be back. You can't go wrong."

  • "Went with wife for our anniverary dinner on a Sat night at 7:30pm. Was busy/lively but had reservation and was happy to have drink at bar beforehand. We split the taco platter appetizer, side salad and filet with yukon gold potatoes. Great variety on menu and food was fantastic. Had the apple cobbler desert and was also yummy. Valet parking (complimentary) and table/bar service were great also. Would not hesitate at all to come back."
