A word from Bakehouse
Bakehouse is a bistro with fantastic views of the Hudson offering a mix of classic French Mediterranean and locavore cuisine. We bake all our own organic breads & pastries.
Bakehouse offers a seasonal menu reflecting Philippe Bonsignour's classic French & Mediterranean cooking background matched with seasonal offerings from the farmers market & local suppliers. Serving Bell & Evans grilled organic chicken with diable sauce & sautéed kale, classic steak au poivre, French onion soup gratin. The Bakehouse burger with farmers ricotta cheese caramelized onions & Danish Havarti is served on our house-made brioche bun.

  • "This is the second time I've been to Bakehouse for brunch, and am consistently happy when I do. It has a really fun atmosphere (although sometimes a little too loud for normal conversation), the decor is great, it over looks the westside highway, but past that the Hudson River park. The food is simple but well-executed, and really good-sized portions. My husband had the short rib hash which really was delicious, I had the breakfast platter that came with eggs, your choice of pancakes or french toast, and your choice of bacon or sausage. The french toast was thick brioche, and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside (perfect!), the bacon was really great, and even my scrambled eggs were seasoned really nicely! We'll be back again."

  • "Visually, the space at Bakehouse is wonderful. It is both country-rustic, yet elegant at the same time, a bit like certain French country places. The "happy hour" $1 oysters are a good deal, although it is shocking that they don't have cocktail sauce to serve with the oysters. (The spicy vinaigrette they give you instead overpowers the oysters; we didn't use it.) My burger was very good; my wife's onion soup just okay. That's all we had, so our info is limited."

  • "I went with a large group for a birthday dinner and it was great. The restaurant was very accommodating with seating us and the staff was lovely. We had a great view of the river and the food was delicious. Our drinks were a little slow to arrive but made well. I'll definitely go back again!"

  • "Food was outstanding! Steak tartare has a nice little kick of spice, which was great. I loved their use or Harissa in a lot of their dishes. Also had the ham and cheese croquettes, side of fries and a duck confit pizza. Loved it all, but the tartare was definitely the star of the show. For dessert, the banana bread pudding with brown sugar ice cream: HOLY. So good."

  • "Came here for dinner on Valentine's Day and loved it. The service was excellent, food was good and it had a nice and chill ambience to it. The early 90's hip hop music playing was also a plus!! Try the calamari as a starter for sure as well as the creme puffs for dessert! Would definitely come back here."

The view was beautiful as well. It's a huge, lofty looking space that could definitely host large groups. Will absolutely be going back!"

  • "I otdered the ricotta pancakes. They were served with a warm maple butter, strawberries and bananas. I had to wait for the maple syrup,but it wasn't long in coming. While the whole dish was very good, they were not as light as the ricotta pancakes I make. They tasted like regular pancakes. I was a bit disappointed with that; so while they were good pancakes, they weren't so good for ricotta pancakes."

  • "I have driven by so many times and I always said I have try that place out, but never did. One day I just decided to make a reservation for brunch, well I'm glad I did. I fell in love with the place. Staff was amazing and the place is huge but has such a warm atmosphere with gorgeous views. Menu selection was also outstanding! I just loved everything about it. You have to try this place / it's amazing!"

Nothing spectacular, but definitely way above average for sure! The wait staff seemed friendly and genuine. Would recommend it and will be coming back next time I'm in the area."

  • "Immediately loved the ambience-warm, cozy and farmhouse interior. We were seated against a wall even though we requested a windows table. Would have left if we could not move and after being able to switch our table were nothing but impressed with the restaurant/bakery. Our server was knowledgeable and gracious. Our food was amazing. From warm blue with honey, manchego croquettes and diver scallops the best I've had, to a great bottle of organic Cabernet, oysters and hand cut fries, our meal was amazing. We inquired about the bakery which was obviously not an evening gig, and were gifted with two scones on our way out the door. This gem is amidst residences on the west side, but worth the trip. We will be back,"

  • "This place doesn't seem to know who it wants to be. The food was pretty good, not great, but fine. Service was prompt but harried and unsophisticated. It wasn't full but it was bustling and loud. Big TVs on sports channels dominate. Lighting at tables so low you cannot read menu without using flashlight on phone. Decor is very casual. View is on the nicer side. But not spectacular as others have said. We were there for dinner on Saturday night. It's kind of an odd place. Not trendy. Not quite a sports bar. Odd."

  • "This place is really hidden, so it's never overrun. The warm decor make you feel comfortable and cozy, yet still chic. You could just go there for a glass of wine and their home-made bread, but all the other items on the menu are worth trying. I higly recommend the scallops."

  • "I dined at Bakehouse with a group of 5. We were sat promptly, and greeted by our server promptly, all things I love. As the name indicates they make their own breads, scones, pastries in house. So of course I had to order an almond chocolate croissant (actually reserve it for post-brunch eating because I was informed it would sell out. I'm not surprised if it does every day SO GOOD!!!) We all ordered brunch selections, goat cheese omelette, veggie croque monsieur, and the hanger steak salad. All were so delicious to look at as well as eat. And of course shared 3 pastries, all delicious! The one thing I didn't love was how loud the restaurant was, luckily we were sat under a lower ceiling, and it's brunch in NYC where is it not loud?"

The entire time we were there, it seemed as though the staff was still preparing to open - there were cartons of glasses, napkins, etc. that remained on an open area throughout our brunch. Chef doesn't seem to be very accommodating of special requests. The ingredients in the omelet were huge - not chopped finely at all!"

  • "Creative brunch just a couple blocks off the Meat Packing District. We were able to make a reservation. However, it wasn't crowded. My fiancé had an omelet with mushrooms, cheese and truffle oil. Great flavor. I had a Crocque Madam. I always get these in Paris and I was not disappointed. The iced cappuccino was the best my fiancé had ever had. Jared, our waiter and former Starbuck's barrista, had a special way of making it so the ice didn't immediately water down the coffee flavor. We would definitely go back. Reasonable price. Just a couple short blocks to the south end of the HighLine."

  • "Great dinner. Started with the oysters and then ordered the lamb chops with a side of truffled mac and cheese. Everything was delicious. My husband shared the oysters and had the duck leg confit which he also enjoyed. My daughter really liked the pork sliders. The space is beautiful and the sunset that evening was beautiful."

  • "If you go early, it's not crowded, and you can enjoy the sunset over the Hudson river. I haven't been there during peak dining hours, but I can imagine that it will get noisy. The food was excellent and the waiter attentive and very friendly. But best of all, the bread tastes like real European bread. I would just return for the bread alone."
