Diner Reviews
  • "My first time experiense was horrific. It took 20 minutes to get a sprite, we waited over an hour and a half for our food to arrive and once it did it was awful. I spent 80.00 I will never get back and I will not hesitate to tell people to never go there."

  • "We took advantage of a quiet Monday night and we were not disappointed. Our meals and the service was excellent. Attention to detail from plating to temperature could not have been better. The lamb shanks my husband ordered were perfect, tender, moist but still holding up so as not to be soggy. The sides of roast potato and seasonal vegetables were tender crisp and very flavorful. The scallop appetizer I ordered was superb, cooked to perfection. My combination plate of souvlaki, lamb chops and back ribs was amazing from the first bite to the last. The value of our meals was extremely reasonable and our entire visit was lovely. We enjoyed our waiters attentive but not intrusive service and the experience certainly bears repeating!"

  • "The food was absolutely fantastic!! We felt like personally tipping who ever prepared our meals! Fantastic! The service could have been better. When I made my reservation I asked that the server inform us of vegatarion options but we weren't informed. Also, we felt though the server was knowledgeable, he could have been a little more personable. Also, he never asked if we wanted more drinks, was late refilling our water and seemed to give his other only table alot more attention."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner. The waiter was very great as was the food and everything else"

  • "We went for the Ciao Eat Winnipeg special. The seafood chowder was excellent. The beef tips were a little disappointing as some were not all that tender. The vegetables were very good and hot. The amount of food was incredible. The Cherries Jubilee was delicious. Would definitely go back."

  • "Excellent food. Surprisingly notable wine list. Only shortcoming - second floor - no elevator - serious accessability issues for those with disabilaties."

  • "We hadn't been to Bailey's in 30 years so we tried it out during the Ciao promotion. Great steak and shrimp meal, very hot and flavourful. Chowder and skewers were excellent. Cheesecake and cherries jubilee were very nice. A nice sense of history and tradition in the room and the table and chairs were very comfortable. The service was disappointing however as both waiters seemed to be only going through the motions. You would think that they would WANT people to try the promotional dinners and to return again. Manager was very friendly."

  • "wonderful food and great for trying new dishes. I went with a friend and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was fantastic - she knew when to come to the table and when to allow us to talk. It was a great girlfriend's night out dinner!"

  • "The building and interior are beautiful, but the service and food did not match. All portion sizes were good, all dinners came with soup or salad to start. You get a good portion for the cost, but the quality was awful. Both dinners we ordered that night were served with lemon roasted potatoes that were very under cooked and had no lemon flavour. The lamb shank was alright. The prime rib was fatty, greasy, and tough. The service is not prompt, we spent a lot of time waiting. Will not be going back anytime soon."

  • "The service was terrible. Slow, not proper etiquette. The waiter scrapped plates and piled plates on the table. We sat for 15 minutes with empty plates after we finished our meal."

  • "The restaurant was very quiet as we were there for an early meal. The service is always great. The food is very good - no real surprises as I don't think the menu has changed in a long time. The special that night was a lamb shank dish - tasty and tender. A few years ago we took an 8 year old and he was made to feel welcome."

  • "My wife and I had a wonderful evening at Bailey's with another couple. If you'll be there for a few hours, ask for a table with the oversize chairs or benches. The appetizers were good and the steaks were done to each person's preference. We preferred the Filet Mignon to the medallions of beef"

  • "Bailey's is a comfortable establishment with great food and good service. We sat in the lounge and had a nice, light meal. The online reservation system is a great idea also."

  • "Dinner at Bailey's is true comfort, attentive service, excellent food and beautiful ambiance. A special birthday dinner was our reason for a return visit. I have been patronizing this restaurant for years and have never been disappointed. I was surprised that the restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday night . Perhaps they need to advertise more now or offer validated parking to attract patrons back downtown on a weekend night."

  • "- spectacular and attentive service; - the dining room was quiet; - the food from French onion soup to steak and garlic prawns was incredibly well done - great character building with woodwork throughout and old style chairs for comfort - food is a bit pricey but good nonetheless - would return for special occasions"

  • "Took my lady here on Valentines weekend, not actually the 14th. Very good service, quiet and not too busy. Candlelit dinner, good wine and beef! Our server provided complimentary Cheesecake at the end as well! Really enjoyed our experience here!"

  • "Everything was lovely. Yummy steak, great wine, good service, and old steakhouse ambiance. My only critique is that the side dishes weren't that interesting. If they were better, things would be perfect."

  • "Food was very good. Server was disorganized and bumbling about. Got someone else's order, looked good though, only to have it whisked away to another table. Had to ask for the wine list. Considering the prices, expected way better service."

  • "This restaurant was recommended to me by my uncle who takes all business clients here. Definitely worth the recommendation. The food was outstanding and their steaks are second to none. The sauce on the lobster scampi was absolutely amazing. The environment was warm and friendly, as were the staff from the moment you walked in. Price is good for the quality you get there. Meal for 2 excluding alcohol cost roughly as much as the same amount of food from a place like red lobster. Portion sizes were good for the price. Defiantly left there full and satisfied"

  • "Food was very good. Service was terrible. Loud, abnoxious bully of a waiter. Had to listen to him constantly berate other servers and the maitre'd in a loud voice. Very unprofessional."

  • "We had a table of 6 on New Years Eve. Food was great and we were seated for our reservation on time. We had timely service but everyone at our table thought the waiters and Waitresses were a little stuffy and serious. Other than that, a great experience!"

  • "Bailey's is a relaxing, peaceful and very comfortable place for dinner. The service is impeccable, Our waiter knew when to approach the table and bring the next course. The menu has many chooses but the lamb never fails and the salmon melts in your mouth. It is a wonderful place to enjoy a leisurely evening with great food and good friends."

  • "We attended Bailey's as a group - an office luncheon - celebrating the Christmas season. Clearly this was a venue of choice for many in the area as the private upstairs section was fully booked at our time of arrival. We were promptly greeted, and seated and service began immediately. The restaurant did an amazing job with their staffing at this busy time of year, and kudos to the servers that made our experience enjoyable. The food was served piping hot, and as always, lived up to expectations. It is clear why Bailey's has experienced success and longevity - they do things right!"

  • "Four coworkers and I came for a Christmas/Retirement luncheon and were very pleased. Every part of the experience - from online reservation through to the minute we settled the check and left - was enjoyable! While 2 of our party had been to Bailey's before, the other 3 had not - the meal and the ambience was appreciated by all! The maitre'd and the wait staff were very attentive, but not intrusive. The music and atmosphere were just right. We highly recommend this as a restaurant of choice - we plan to return often for our regular lunch meetings!"

  • "The food was great as always. I think the bar was a bit busier than usual so the staff seemed to be running, but they did a great job."

  • "Bailies is a great restaurant good food, great service and they really look after you and the wine menu is excellent. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great meal for a reasonable price and a relaxing atmosphere. I would choose Bailies over Hy's restaurant every time."

  • "Baileys has been around for a long time, their food and service was great as always. Our dining experience was a positive one, friendly waiter, comfortable high back chairs and great food."

  • "Always surprised that it's not busier, great food and service - just needs patrons!"
    Dined on 10/18/2013
  • "The appetizers were excellent and the timing of the courses served. The wine was always poured promptly as soon as our glasses required filling. The overall service was very good. I was rather disappointed in the meal I ordered which was veal marsala. The sauce was excellent, but I found the meat very tough and needed to request a steak knife. I only ate half of the meat that was served in this dish."
