Diner Reviews
  • "This is a beautiful restaurant nice. Could be quite a gem if only the food were good. Quality of food extremely poor; prices very high; not a good combination."

  • "Went to Baia for dinner on a Monday evening with my wife. We made a reservation which allowed us to sit outside with no wait. Outdoors was crowded because of the beautiful evening and I think people were waiting for a while without a reservation. Cocktails were descent. The dinner specials tasted great and desert was very good as well. Our waitress was kind and attentive. Not sure how the experience is on the weekend, but we had a great experience out for dinner on a beautiful Monday evening."

  • "Our dinner was excellent. We sat outdoors on the upper deck. It was early and there were many families enjoying the food and the view. The seating was very comfortable and the food was excellent. The only negative was that our service was a little slow, since tables that were seated after us were served their entrees before we were. I would recommend this restaurant very highly!"

  • "I have eaten here a lot over the past few summers and always get the same un-welcoming welcome.... a lot of scrambling hostesses no eye contact with guests, not knowing where to seat us, not appearing to care that we arrived, they never say "please follow me to you table" or anything remotely Hostess-like. they just pick up menus and start walking... Our waiter, however (who happened to be Sebastian on this night) was lovely and charming from the get go. he was, calm, friendly, knowledgable about the menu etc. very lovely gentleman. Food was ok, pretty salty. Good selections Nothing spectacular unfortunately and noise from other large parties or loud. /drunk parties made for more of a bar dining experience."

  • "one of the few waterfront dining options in our area... long wait for table despite reservation, band (not good at all) on outer deck.. way too loud, inside live music was also way too loud.. could barely hear dinner conversation.. food was fair at best, server had the nerve to say 'well we have a few large parties tonight"... yah so....?? Its a lovely setting for a restaurant...always hope that they improve but... its the same old- same old... stick to chicken fingers and beer when dining here... please give up all attempts at 'fine dinning' because you miss the mark !"

  • "Reservations only apply to inside dining....so we waited for patio dining which was really good! Food, service, entertainment excellent!"

  • "Our server, Robert, greeted us and had full knowledge of the menu along with the specials of the day. There was special attention paid to my very young grandsons and to the needs of the adults as well. The food was delicious and we all had something different ( we were a party of 11 )my blackened swordfish was done to perfection. We visit Ocean City every year and Baia will be on out list each year aw well."

  • "We were excited to try this swanky restaurant just off of Ocean City, as it's so hard to find good restaurants at the shore. Unfortunately, we left feeling quite disappointed. The ambiance is lovely, but quite loud. The service was attentive, but somehow not very helpful. The food was expensive and artfully presented, but ranged in taste from absolutely average to completely unpalatable. The trout was slimy and flavorless, while the veal was gamey, dry, and overcooked. I will say that the rolls and garlic olive oil were a nice touch, but what followed was an overly-ambitious attempt at "fine food" that left me sad to pull out my wallet. Perhaps it was simply an uncharacteristic bad night for them, but we'll not be back to try again."

  • "seated outside on a busy Saturday night...but was it so busy no one had a chance to refill our water glasses? How about even offering dessert? Never saw that one before. She just brought us the check. Veal chop special had more breading than veal, but trout was terrific. Been there before, and had better experiences. Great view with outdoor dining!"

  • "Seated right away with our reservation but the service was slow and restaurant was noisy. Even with these comments the food was very good and restaurant has beautiful views. Best to sit outside away from the band."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "The service was great however the food was overpriced for the amount and the quality. We both ordered seafood which was extremely over cooked. The noise level was unbearable. We could not even have a conversation about our wedding anniversary. We were very much looking forward to dining here and realized very quickly that is was not what we thought."

  • "Very friendly service attentive. Nice portions and very tasty meal. Reasonable prices. Band too noisy. Sit far from the band."

  • "Everything was good from the hostess to the dinner to the waitstaff. All of our dinners were very good and caeser salad was exceptional."

  • "We were greeted first by a group of 3 hostesses, I was given a blank stare and told we would need to wait until our reservation time to be helped??? Not a warm greeting. Our server did not smile the entire meal, he did not introduce himself, he had no knowledge of the menu items (My mother in law ordered a beer he said was a pale ale that turned out to be a shady), the table next to us got their salads before we did even though we were seated and ordered 15 minutes before, 1 meal was forgot,, packed up our leftovers which never brought back and when we asked for them he said the busser discarded them and never offered anything for this error. When it was mentioned on the way out the hostess just said "oh"....worst customer service ever!"

  • "Made a reservation and still had to wait well over an hour. Did not accomidate our teenage daughtet who was not permitted on the lower deck. That would not be a problem if we were informed of that an hour before we started waiting. The wait staff was rude, careless and down right cold. The place is simply an over priced happy hour with bar food."

  • "My husband and I dined here with friends on a Sunday evening of July 4th weekend. We appreciated the fact that we were able to make a reservation and that we were seated at that my time. Had a lovely booth with a water view, a great server named Tyler and four delicious meals. We enjoyed it all."

  • "We've dined here many times...service was outstanding. Food was excellent with the exception of my filet being overcooked. I sent it back, and the cook had the waitress come back with the steak to tell me that it actually WASN'T overcooked. It was. Kind of put a damper on dinner since I ate my meal after everyone else was finished. Otherwise, a new steak was made correctly. Drinks were spot on. Would still go back!"

  • "First time at Baia and would definitely dine more often. All food was great and served in a timely manner. Friendly atmosphere. Loved the entertainment which was not expected. Weather was also perfect! Very relaxing night celebrating my retirement and my friend's retirement with our husbands. Great night!"

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Baia for my birthday. The food was great and the atmosphere was perfect for the summer. The waiter was kind and provided us with great service. However, we noticed the hostesses had serious attitude problems. They hardly said a word and looked annoyed by us. We witnessed one of them neglect to hold a door for a customer and rudely let the door slam in their face. They should have a smile on their face and make customers feel welcomed. I would suggest talking to them about cracking a smile every once in a while."

  • "What an overpriced, underwhelming disappointment. Friday night, party of seven - took a half hour for one cocktail to arrive (incorrectly prepared and never fixed) and 45 minutes to place our dinner order. Waiter confused throughout the evening. Dinners took way too long to arrive - half of our meals were cold, half hot. Side dishes came out after meals were finished - and one entree was missing all together...appearing about 20 minutes after the rest of us were done eating. Even the waiter suggested that we skip dessert since the experience was so terrible. On a high note, the menu is interesting, and the food that was actually served hot was delicious. Still, at $300+ and 2 wasted hours (one drink and no dessert), we will NEVER be back."

  • "We went around 9pm on a Friday and were sat immediately outside on the deck. The view is nice I ordered tuna with the blackened sauce. My dish was amazing. I would order the same thing when/if we go back. My husband had a special- veal parm. His dish was huge, he took most of it home. He enjoyed his too. Service was great. There were two female singers playing during our dinner but they left just as we were finishing. I would have liked to go down to the lower deck/bar after dinner and listen to live music. I don't know why they left so early on a Friday night."

  • "We like to go here because of the great view and you can usually get a last minute reservation. Unfortunately, it's hit or miss on the food. I've had some fabulous dishes, like the pecan crusted salmon. But, stay away from the veal parm, very tough. Our salads were delicious, arugula with red peppers and greens with pears and candied walnuts. The hot banana coconut bread pudding is one of the best desserts I've ever had."

  • "If you like great tasting food, an extensive menu, water & boat views, and a vibrant bar scene, you'll love BAIA, in Somers Point, NJ. We ate outside on the covered deck; there is also an elegant indoor dining room and a very casual lower deck, for mostly families & the boating crowd. The service is as attentive as the food is delicious!"

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed our visit to Baia. The food was great and he waterfront dining made for an enjoyable experience. Our only complaint was that the wait staff kept trying to take our plates before we were finished. it just felt a bit rushed. But we would definitely go back and would recommend the restaurant to a friend looking for a nice seafood or Italian dining experience."

  • "We've been dining at Baia for past three years or so - it's a lovely looking restaurant and was usually a solid B or B- - always acceptable but not much more - This past Saturday we had an outstanding meal - Hope they don't change whatever they are doing now - all the selections from raw bar were amazing - very fresh clams, crab claws, etc. and beautifully presented - the main courses and other apps were equally outstanding - the eggplant rollantini was huge and enough for an entree - lamb chops were delicious - great affordable wine by the glass - very good choice. The place is usually mobbed on Saturday after July 4th so this past Saturday, being still June was a bit quieter and made for a very lovely evening. Kudos to the new chef!"
