  • "The inside was too loud. We have not eat outside so I cannot comment to that. The food was all very spicy. Even food which the server specifically said, "this is not too spicy at all." The drinks were very good."

  • "food was delicious w/ innovative approaches to classics. I had Linguine w/ clams and it was great with lots of veggies (tomato,fennel, celery onions mixed into the pasta . The steak w/ chimichurri was great and the appetizers tasy and well presented. The German Chocolate cake w/ coconut curry ice cream was amazing. all in all good food, good prices - Get an outdoor table if possible, noisey inside."

  • "So glad 5 of us dined at Backstreet on Sat night. We arrived a bit early and were immediately seated by a very welcoming hostess. Our waitress was personable and very attentive to our group all evening. Drinks were great; the food was wonderfully prepared and imaginative. I forgot my credit card on the table and was called immediately to let me know...great customer service! Online reviews were "iffy" and I'm so glad we disregarded them and tried Backstreet. I'll definitely return- very soon!!"

  • "We recently had dinner at the restaurant with friends. We mentioned how good the food and service is. However, being in the height of the summer season, it was not as memorable this time. Our waiter was Adonis. He was very attentive and personable. He slipped in service at the very end when the restaurant became busier. Our dinners were delicious. However, our guest ordered the halibut fish and had to send it back twice since it arrived cold. Once it was heated, he stated it was most delicious. The overall dining experience was great but not superb. Our guests stated that they enjoyed the place, service, and how delicious the food was, when the fish finally arrived hot. We will be back again. If you want innovative cooking, Backstreet is it"

  • "Acoustics unpleasantly loud. Mosquitoes upstairs bit us all over. Oversalted bits of focaccia were "to be eaten with butter & goat cheese mix". Who knew! How can anyone ruin grits? So salty they left an unpleasant aftertaste. Stopped after a few mouthfuls & asked to take it away. Worse yet, ordered the special & got a different dish. Owner explained that our waiter told us about last week"s special! Sorry excuse for poor management. The menu should be reviewed by the manager with staff before the dinner service. The original order was made, came out quickly - bad sign! Gnocchi were a DISGRACE! Don't call them that if they look & taste like squished squash balls. Nothing was comped either! Poorly run front & back of house."

  • "The tomato salad was terribly unripe, hard like an apple. when I tried to return it, the manager attempted to educate me that heirloom tomatoes are supposed to be green and hard like that. The medium rare pork chop I ordered was well done and dry."

  • "Ordered the raw bar sampler for shared app. Good, fresh seafood. Didn't really like the cocktail sauce with the shrimp or the sauce for the clams. Minionete was delicious. For entree...hallibut was awesome. Large portion cooked perfectly. Spicy Brazilian red snapper was good. Service was excellent."

  • "First we had a table inside, but it was really cold, especially at our table right next to the AC. After complaining twice, the nice staff suggested a table on the patio for us instead, which was great. The duck confit spring roll starter was rather dry, but the main courses were great. The tuna was excellent. Really nice staff, both the hostess and the waiters."

  • "Backstreet might be! Really liked the food and David was a terrific waiter. To start we had the tuna tartare and blue corn calamari. Both winners. A bit of a lag between the appetizers and our entrées but worth the wait! We both had grilled lamb chops which were a special. Perfectly cooked, served with a fig balsamic reduction. Looking forward to a return visit."

  • "The menu was interesting, the food was good - I had the shrimp and grits - grits were delicious - nice spice and texture. The shrimp was just shrimp - nothing special. My husband had the sea bass - it was a little bland. I was hoping to have the chocolate oatmeal that I had read about in other reviews for dessert, but it was not offered on the night we were there. We skipped dessert. The service, while friendly, was FAST. We barely had time to finish one course when the wait staff was waiting at our table with the next. Overall, I would recommend Backstreet. I was expecting to be "wowed", and wasn't though I'd be willing to give it another shot."

  • "The food is good and so was the service. The noise level was very loud however. But the most disturbing thing was the 20% tip added to our bill with no notification at all! If we had not been diligent, we would have tipped him again! And, by the way, we were only a party of four! Very bad!! I also think it is illegal to add a tip with no notification on the menu. I find it hard to recommend this restaurant because of this practice. People will be fooled into double tipping."

  • "Backstreet is in an old house and because of that it has a poor layout. In the center of the house is the kitchen, bar pickup and dish room and from our table you could see all the activity going on and it didn't add to the ambiance of the restaurant. Also, when we were seated, it took a long time for a server to finally acknowledge our table of 7."

  • "Really want this restaurant to succeed but most at our table did not enjoy the service or meal. First the table was not ready and we waited in the bar - no big deal. Once we were seated at our 6-top table it took a very long time before our order was taken (felt like 30 minutes), good thing we ordered drinks at the bar. The following items we ordered just seemed bland: Duck confit spring rolls and the gnocci. Both had good presentation with little flavor. One person ordered the sea bass and they sold out. He went with the NY Strip medium rare. It came out very rare and the risotto was not hot and also very bland (needed salt). Empty glasses not removed, had to chase down waiter for more wine. Showed up at 8:15 and left at 11PM, ugh"

  • "First time @ the new Backstreet (formerly 10 tables). What an amazing experience! Every single item on the menu was spectacular. Service was impeccable. We discovered a new wine that is now our favorite! Probably the most amazing desert I've ever had in my life (chocolate oatmeal w/bananas, rhubarb and ginger). Will return without hesitation."

  • "Inspirational food menu, good pea risotto, pork chops and excellent jalapeño tequila! Berries were a little sour for dessert. But, it was menu over all. Front operations (hostess etc - 2 persons) have been a nightmare. I came by on 3rd July around 20:38PM and there were 3 opened tables. One table was being held for the 20:00PM reservation. 4th July (last night) - hostesses were rearranging a table for 8 people while customers were waiting. For some reasons, this reservation of 8 ppl canceled and customers walked out."

  • "Just ate at Backstreet with a group of 10. They placed us in a beautiful private room with wine all around us. Each dish that we ordered was fabulous and the timing was magnificent. We all received our appetizers at the same time as well as our entrees. The host and waiters were very kind and attentive. This same group of 10 has dined as a group at other places in P-town and so far, this is our favorite."

  • "Tried Backstreet while looking for a new place to dine in Ptown. Had a beautiful evening so we dined out on their secluded patio w/nice plantings and a water feature. Our waiter, Ron, was friendly and accommodating, offering to make our 6-year old a special mocktail thus setting her up for a nice evening as well. No children's menu per se but willing to do fresh made pasta with butter and cheese and brought out with our appetizers. The duck confit spring rolls were excellent - lots of duck and fried just enough to be crispy but not greasy. My wife had the halibut special and I had the NY Strip with Chimichurri and fresh pea risotto. Both excellent dishes bursting with flavor - the NY Strip was a very generous cut. We'll be back for sure."

  • "We showed up with 3 kids: a one year-old girl and two boys, 6 and 7. I know they were not expecting this party of nine to look like this. But the team at Backstreet took it in stride, running across the street for a high chair and escorting us to their private dining room, with walls elegantly lined with bottles of wine. The owner even popped in and told us he was a new father and delivered a variety of gelatos for the boys to try. The kids in our party are amazingly well-behaved (otherwise we would not have attempted a restaurant like this) but it was nice that they really made us feel welcome and catered to our needs! Thank you Backstreet Team!!"

  • "Found this new restaurant quite by accident while walking by during our last full day visiting Ptown. Really lovely...beyond attentive staff and inventive, inspired dishes. Vegetarian udon noodle entrée and the shrimp and grits were both excellent. Server Ryan P was terrific and rightfully enthusiastic about this great new high end culinary treat!"

We say outside on the patio and with the view of the tower and garden around us I could of swore I was in Italy for a minute. Deserts were limited but drinks and good food made up for that.   • "When I was presented with a fresh strawberry and rhubarb martini I knew this was going to be a delicious meal. The tuna tartar was lightly spiced and vibrant. I had the ricotta gnocchi with duck ragu. The gnocchi were light and fluffy and the ragu was decadent and richly flavored. Another of our party ordered the clams and fettuccine, the plating was average but the taste was phenomenal. Fennel induced broth bathed the noodles and clams."

  • "Met friends for impromptu Wednesday evening dinner...exotic cocktails; tasty, unpretentious wine, followed by scrumptious appetizers(the mignonette was excellent), heirloom tomato salad, mouth watering. spring rolls hearty. The garden setting allowed us to speak in normal voices, laugh and reconnect. Shared entres included an excellent sea bass preparation and marinated grilled tuna. Ryan served us with humor and just the right level of attention. Dining out at its best!!!! Thank you!"

  • "Our first dinner at Backstreet was a solid one. Three of four meals were terrific - chicken, shrimp, and tuna. The fourth I will reserve judgement on, ax my friend ordered his ribeye medium well, so it was butterflied. The other three were all creatively prepared and beautifully presented. The wine and drinks lists were quite nice. My only concern is whether the distinctive spicy southwest flavorings will "work" in this town long run, especially one block off the main dining scene. We love the building and decor, and their garden is beautiful; however, this has been a difficult location for every restaurant there. Backstreet might want to revisit the southwest influence, which will not appeal to all."

  • "This was my 2nd visit. the first visit compelled me to return but on this visit the entrees were left wanting, seeming to lack spicing and flavor. could be the entrees we ordered or this particular evening was off. will try again but hopefully will be better next time.   • "This is a hidden gem in P-town, that most don't find. It is off the beaten path, but worth the jog. You would really only be jogging a block off commercial......its quiet and away from the craziness. The service was amazing.......and the food is above average quality.....the upstairs is a bit tight, but romantic none-the-less.....I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone traveling to P-town.."
