  • "They accommodated our group of 25 for Saturday brunch. Really great."

  • "I'm sure many people go to the Back Bay Bistro (by Newport Dunes) because it has great views of boats and paddle boarders on the back bay, or because they can enjoy a brunch with lots of choices for a fair price without having to get dressed up. Or maybe they like dining in the glass building with sea breezes coming through. But, in addition to this, the food at dinnertime is very, very good. I had the diver scallops with risotto recently and it was absolutely delicious. Every time I have eaten there, I have been very happy with the food, and the servers who are very nice."

  • "We had a party of 10 for a birthday cekebeation. Able to dock our boat and had gre as the service. The hostess was very friendly and our wait staff were attentive. Fun place to go. .Food excellent!"

  • "Seven of us went for a b-day celebration. We all had a difficult time narrowing down our preferences. The kitchen was VERY accommodating to a few changes. One of the changes, though, was because the kitchen ran out of the type of fish originally ordered. Our reservations were for 8pm. By the time we settled to order it was 8:30pm. We ordered appetizers, they arrived rather quickly and then we were told to order our entrees quickly because the kitchen closes at 9pm. When we arrived we were told we would receive a complimentary b-day dessert, which we did; it was fantastic. After it was brought, we asked for additional desserts and were told the kitchen was already closed, but after talking with the waiter, he corrected the situation."

  • "We ate our buffet and watched the fireworks from our table. We really enjoyed the evening!"

  • "The food was so bad...we paid a lot to dine there on July 4th and the buffet was mediocre at best. We had to go out and order pizzas from the nearby pizza truck that was nearby so we had something to eat. We had a family of 6 there that evening so the bill came to over $ 350 for the evening. The worst part about it is that they did not let us know in advance that parking fee next to the restaurant was $ 50.00 !!! Outrageous to say the least. I would definitely share this with our friends...it was dismal. Sincerely, Mrs. M. Green"

  • "I will not be back, had the Ahi, covered with spice and glaze that did not belong together. Rice undercooked. Waitress seemed less than interested in being there!"

  • "... means excellent food "à point"! Steak and fries could not be better. Chowder can easily compete with East Coast."

  • "Bartender Scott was great. Sunday night is not the time to go.food was mediocre."

  • "Wonderful location right on the water with views of Newport's Back Bay. We had a private room which was a bit out of the way, yet Jisel and the wait staff were great and attentive. The brunch menu was well rounded with lots of choices for every pallet. Large selection of seafood (crab legs, oysters, shrimp, salmon, lox, sashimi) Bottom-less champagne, so all the adults were happy. Plus, valet parking. The location is what truly makes this place special and we could not have picked out a better locale for our graduation party. In fact, we are already planning a Christmas brunch."

  • "Food was quite good but the service was spotty. Everyone was very pleasant but they seemed disorganized. There were long waits for drinks, long waits for somebody to ask for table settings because they didn't notice we had none even when delivering food to the table etc. A female companion said the ladies restroom was disgusting."

  • "our mimosa glasses were NEVER empty! 2 thumbs up! the service was great. it had live music and everything. the venue is great and would be perfect for a family brunch or even a rehearsal dinner for a wedding!"

  • "I will definitely return here with my family but the only irritating part was the restaurant "ran out of high chairs" on Fathers Day. In looking around, I saw maybe 2-3 in the entire place. I have a 10 month old and all they had was a booster which doesn't work for a child his age since he wants to go go go so I had to try and eat quickly with one hand and hold him down with the other. They ended up borrowing from another restaurant but our meal was already over. Also id called ahead for a specific table and a high chair and told no problem at all & got there and was told that my request wasn't honored since they were busy?! Besides these issues the food, our server Sabrina and the ambience was amazing. Just needs to be more kid friendly."

  • "Too expensive for the quality of food. $35 would be a more realistic price for Brunch. Would not return, nor suggest it to others."

  • "Difficult to find, even with GPS. Go through a guard shack and he said, "Way in the back over there." After a few hundred yards. we spotted what might be a restaurant building. The parking lot was massive with no cars to speak of and two guys milling around in front of the building. We pulled up and asked if this was the Back Bay Bistro. He said it was and the parking was valet at a charge of $5.00. The driver said he preferred to park his own car. We were directed to park where there were no cones. We did so and got yelled at to park completely out of the area about 100 yards away. This was crazy and did not set a good tone for the evening. The "Wine expert" was insulting and the food service people great. We won't be back!"

  • "...Thursdays $29 for 2 read their ad, sounded like a great idea, dinner on the patio, view of the water, sun setting. Made reservation. They called and said outdoors only because special event booked all indoors, was that okay? That was thoughtful! Weather was great so no problem. Service was a little slow, but we sipped our cocktails and enjoyed the view, crowd noise was not intrusive. Dinner for 2 was 1 shared app, 1 shared entree and 1 shared dessert. Food was so-so. Service remained pleasant and smiling though very busy working special event and regular guests. "

  • "Made reservations @ BBB thru open table only to find out that the entire restuarant had been booked by a charity and only outside dining was available. Was with my father who does not like to eat outside(food gets cold, he gets cold-he's 94). Although the hostess said she called everyone with reservations as to the only area to eat was outside I received no message. The heat lamps were not working and the sun was setting. The waitress did everything within her power to make it better. We were set to leave. The beverage manager came by and apolegized and offered us complimentary anything on the menue. Well a good martinee can make anything better. We stayed and enjoyed the shrimp scampi (was great!) and will be going back. "

  • "Casual dining in a large glass building with windows and skylights that open to the sky, plus an outdoor patio where you can bring your dog, BBB is fun and feels like a vacation spot, since it is at Newport Dunes with a view of the boat ramp and part of the Back Bay. The service is sometimes slow, but the food is very good, and the brunch has a lot of variety for the price. "

  • "The view, service, wine and appetizers were excellent. Unfortunately, we choose to also have dinner. I had the rack of lamb, and my wife had chicken. I both cases, the sauce was clearly out of a bottle. My wife's meal was inedible. We do plan to return, with our kids, but just won't have dinner."

  • "This was our first visit to Back Bay Bistro. It was highly rated as a Sunday brunch venue. We came for Mothers' Day. We had a very unpleasant experience. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed by the number of diners. After an almost 20 minute wait (beyond the time of our reservation), we were seated at a decent outdoor patio table, then suddenly moved to a hastily placed table on a narrow outdoor walkway area next to an occupied bench. We had to request, and then wait almost 10 minutes to receive, a promised table umbrella and our "set-ups" (silverware and napkins). Our drinks were late and never refilled. Many of the hot food items set out in chafing dishes were cold (the sterno cans under them were not burning). Not planning to return."

  • "I was looking forward to trying out this place as I am a fan of the back bay area. I wasn't aware that it was a buffet offering on Sundays and had I known I would not have even made a reservation. When we arrived we were told the buffet would be $40. After eating the food I knew we had wasted money. The food was poorly made, soggy and all around gross and having to pay the bill for less than mediocre food was more than frustrating. I would never go back and they should be ashamed of the food they are serving in a relatively nice spot. "

  • "Been coming here for mother's day brunch for a few years now, but this year was pretty sub-par. They still charge the same 75$ per person rather or not they drink mimosa or not AND the quality of their food went down a few notches. Their crab legs were obviously frozen then thawed... the shells were soggy and squishy. I ordered a glass of OJ and it took me about 30 minutes to get it after i asked our server about it three times. the only redeeming factor was their oyster and kobe beef station. "

  • "We had dinner there early Sunday evening. We have eaten there several times, and the food is always very good. The view of the boat ramp and part of the Back Bay is very nice too. But, although there were only a few people eating in the restaurant at the time, they seemed to be shorthanded with only one waiter, and the service was much slower than usual. Also, it got cold when the sun started to set, since they had the panels in the roof open, as well as the windows, so be sure to take a sweater or jacket if you will be there in the evening."

  • "White table clothes, full service piano bar, classy waiters and great service stand out in this upscale place to dine. Hidden a bit just off Jamboree near Lido Isle, this is a very comfortable place we have snuck into a bit dressed down...but black tie is fine too. Seems to be an older crowd, but that is fine for me. We are 40's and 50's in my group and able to have wonderful food, attentive and mindful service is always important to a great dinner experience. Fine steaks and seafood, salads and desserts...can't get much better. The Piano music is not too loud in the dining area, but sets a great tone. Easy to talk and enjoy your company. Excellent date place to be romantic! The ladies will be comfortable and appreciated. "

  • "We had a large birthday party at the Back Bay Bistro on a Saturday night in May 2014. We requested use of the private room and got it. The service was excellent even though we were "off the beaten path" in the back room. Food was quite good too. We were not pressured to leave, and stayed almost past closing time. I will definitely go back to enjoy the ambiance; great view of Back Bay and plenty of parking. "

  • "placed at table with very hot sun, moved to another table, bus boy body language was "not pleased" it was very apparent. He had to take off table paper. arrived 10 minutes before dinner time. That created some confusion . Ordered a round of drinks, 15 minutes later server came for order , but no drinks, seems someone called a staff meeting. The food was o.k. but not good enough to tell others how good it was. "

  • "We had to move ourselves because we were seated at a table where the setting sun was in our eyes. The waitress had to be asked what the specials for the evening were. The wait staff was just a bit off when we were there for dinner. Lunch was great. "

  • "We celebrated a birthday here last Saturday and it went better than planned. The ambiance was awesome. It was a little chilly but they have heaters inside and outside that take the chill off. The selection of food was great- from salads and salmon, to eggs benedict, french toast, and pancakes. What was even more pleasing was the quality of the food- they made it in smaller batches so it didnt get cold or too old and they were on top of refilling everything. The omelet station had egg whites as an option, which i loved. They also had a carving station with tri-tip and turkey. I would definitely go back. Their lunch items looked delicious too!"

  • "We did the buffet on Easter. For the cost, the food was average at best and was served outside. It was cold and old, not being replaced as it should. Put the buffet back inside like last year and cut the price to something reasonable and we might go back. Otherwise, forget about it."
