Specialties include classic pasta dishes, veal, and fresh seafood, with especially tempting daily specials offered by Executive Chef Domenico Alioto. Diner Reviews
  • "I am extremely picky about Italian growing up in a big Italian family. I rarely find an authentic place. From the mouthwatering portabello mushrooms to the homemade vanilla gelato with perfect espresso - well done!"

  • "Loved everything about this place. Will definitely be back!"

  • "Baci is our new San Diego restrarant standard for all others to be compared to. The food is only surpassed by the wonderful service."

  • "I can't believe I had not been here before! I live very close. The food was incredible! The service was wonderful. I plan to return many times!"

  • "We always enjoy a bit of Old World ambiance and good Italian food. Our family prepares Italian food at home so if we choose to go out then the first choice is Baci. We know the food will be good and well prepared. Each of us in our party of five ordered something different and we all loved our dinners. From the osso buco to the eggplant parmigiana each plate was delicious. We look forward to our next visit!"

  • "Our children had dinner with us this week at Baci Restaurant! As always food & service were outstanding. We started with Prosciutto e Melon, Carpaccio di Manzo & Insalata Caprese, Dinner included Rack Of Lamb, New York Strip Steak, Scallops, Mediterranean Sea Bass. We order sides of Gnocchi Quattro Formaggi. I ordered it with the cuttle fish. Detail to the food & attentiveness towards their guest are outstanding!! You will not be disappointed with this Gem of a Restaurant!"

  • "Everything we had, from the appetizer, to the salad, to entree, to the dessert, exceeded our expectations. We were expecting an average Italian restaurant, but this was far better. I highly recommend the rack of lamb and the Disaronno cheesecake. The only bone I had to pick with them is that our waiter implied that our salads were included with our entrees, when in fact they cost extra. They should be more careful with their wording when offering an $8 salad that it isn't included with the entrees."

  • "We always enjoy Baci during our winter visits to San Diego, and our meal this time was no exception. The food is outstanding and the service is professional and friendly. We both had veal, Marsala-style for my wife, and a chop for me. Both were about as good as they could be. I started with one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had, complete with anchovies! Complimentary limoncello finished off an outstanding meal."

  • "I've been to Baci on several occasions and have not been disappointed. Many of the Italian restaurants I've been to have not offered authentic Italian food, but rather an American version. Service has been consistently good and the availability of valet parking for $3 is great for a neighborhood restaurant where only street parking is available. Note that booths are a bit on the small side for a party of 4, but up to 3 people, it's a comfortable and private setting."

  • "My family has dined at Baci's on many occasions over the years. The food and service is always, always excellent and the specials show a creative flair. The Sea Urchin is fabulous, the Branzino wonderful, and any of the veal dishes are outstanding. We're so happy and fortunate to be able to return often!"

  • "Classic Italian themed restaurant with an excellent eclectic menu. The Swordfish is a signature dish well worth the cost although the pastas, steak, etc. Are very much worth consideration. I cannot compliment the service staff enough who are very knowledgeable of both the menu and wine list and remain present but unobtrusive. It was fun to dress up for a restaurant like this one even amongst the Millenials with t-shirts, shirt tails and shorts."

  • "The best buffalo mozzarella I have ever had. The entrees were classical and all four of us were very pleased with the quality. Prices were very fair. Down in Gaslight district there is a bit of "the hustle" to the Italian restaurants. Thus I would recommend as the best Italian I have found in San Diego."

  • "This is the best restuarant I've ever been to. Everyone was professional, drinks were never empty, as soon as the last piece of bread was taken, another basket replaced it. Just amazing service! And the food was the best I've ever had. I had the tortelini con bruschetta and every single bite was the best bite of food I've tasted. A small restaurant but definitely should be named best restaurant in San Diego."

  • "Everything at the restaurant was superb. The staff was very attentive, the atmosphere is very pleasant and the food is excellent. I was introduced to the place last September when visiting San Diego and upon returning wanted to experience the restaurant again."

  • "We loved Baci; our server was very attentive and the staff was friendly. This place is great for special occasions because it has an intimate and romantic feel to it. There was a long stem rose on every table with one candlelight and the rooms have about 10 tables. The food did not take long and the wine list was diverse. Overall, it was an excellent experience and I definitely recommend it."

  • "I will not be eating here again. We had to wait 30 minutes to get a table ( after making reservations 2 weeks in advance) and It took another 20 minutes before the waiter came to take out order. The staff was rude and we eventually left without ordering. It shouldn't take an hour for someone to order their meal when they made reservations. I will not be returning to this place."

  • "We've eaten at Baci's many times over the years and tried to get in for Valentine's Day but were too late to make a reservation. So we went Saturday night instead and were not disappointed. The swordfish oreganato is simply out of this world as was the octopus appetizer, both are the best anywhere, and they were again Saturday night. The wine by the glass is from their regular list and high quality. Service is usually as good as it comes in any restaurant and it was again Saturday night. At night, don't hunt the neighborhood for free parking, you will have to be incredibly lucky to find a space. Instead, use the $3 valet parking by the front door by turning off Morena into the alley--never a problem."

  • "We went to Baci for Valentine's Day because we had heard many good things. We really enjoyed ourselves. The service was fantastic. Even despite the packed Valentine's Day crowd, our waiter was very attentive and prompt. The food was good - we tried the mussels, sea urchin, veal chop, and shrimp scampi. The seafood offered at Baci is monstrous...the mussels and shrimp were huge. Overall, it was a very nice experience."

  • "Let there be no questions about the food, the ambience, and the wine list. As for service, they seem to rotate waiters until they find a style that works for you. So if you don't like a waiter, well, wait."

  • "Baci's continues to be an amazing and wonderful San Diego establishment. The food is consistently good and this family owned operation for many years continues to serve world class cuisine. Tony and his sons are very visible to welcome customers and it's a delight to indulge in their fine cuisine. Love their Vongale and veal dishes. Job well done."

  • "I have eaten at Baci's approximately 5-7 times. I live in Chicago and have access to many fine Italian restaurants. But Baci's is one of my favorites. Whenever I am in San Diego, I make sure that I get at least one night there. The atmosphere is such that you almost expect to see Frank Sinatra come walking in. The neighborhood is dated, but safe and we never worry about parking or walking from our car. Difficult to find as you drive down W. Morena Blvd, and usually first timers will pass by before seeing sign. Just pay attention to street numbers and be sure to specify WEST Morena Blvd. on your GPS. Address is 1955 and some GPS devices only go up to 1599 numbering. So, if that happens to you, just enter 1599 and go one half mile further."

  • "We found this Gem of a Restaurant 18 months ago while staying in San Diego for the month of August. We dined there three times during our stay. We are back in San Diego for three months and our first stop was Baci Monday night 1/27/2014. The food & service were stellar as we knew it would be! Family owned Tony greets you at the door and makes you feel like you are walking into the home of a friend. If you live in San Diego or here on a visit you have to put this restaurant at the top of your list to dine at."

  • "My Father and I decided to eat at Baci on 1/25/14 after eating there 12 years prior. We previously stayed here for a weekend trip and found Baci because our hotel recommended it. We were so impressed with the restaurant that we ate their two nights in a row. 12 Years later we are happy to report that the food quality is still incredible. We went in to take a shot and we were immediately impressed as soon as we were seated at our table. They have a very professional and friendly staff and they created a fantastic atmosphere. We ordered the calamari, Mussels in White Wine, and both had the Veal ai Porcini for a main course. All of the food was amazing. This truly is the best Italian Restaurant in San Diego hands down."

  • "First off, I'll say what was bad: There's very little street parking available, which made us spend $3 for the valet. Also, upon entering, there was no one to greet us for over a minute, making for an uncomfortable feeling. Both were very minor issues, and things only got better. When we were greeted, I gave my name for our reservation and the reception confirmed and then wished my aunt a happy birthday--I noted that as our reason for being there when the reservation was made. At various times during our meal, at least three waiters (one or two we suspected to be either owner or manager) came around to make sure we were enjoying our food--which the food was very good."

  • "This is what fine Italian dining should be. It's dificult to find anything to criticize about Baci. The the menu and the food are great, the decor is comfortable and the wait staff is experianced, efficient and friendly. I always feel like I received full value. GP"

  • "Baci's is a must experience for locals and visitors alike. The food is beyond excellent: fresh, diverse, outstanding presentation, and exquisite taste. The signature dish, swordfish oreganto, must be experienced. The staff were also very observant, attentive and personable. You will feel very special whether or not it is a special occasion."

  • "Whenever we are in San Diego, Baci is a must go for fresh tasting Italian food. Pasta's are great (typically can get half portion for starter or split one), fresh fish fantastic but my favorite is the Osso Bucco with risotto. Some great Itailan wines with specialty.ones sometimes not on list - please ask. Great for celebrations, family meals or special occasions. Highly recommend! Family owned and it shows!"
