The restaurant in Healdsburg is attractive and comfortable. There's a definite sense of welcome and service was spectacular, but nothing can top the food. The menu was well thought out without being too large - the food was fresh and expertly prepared. The waitress was knowledgeable and attentive. There were 5 of us and the restaurant was full but all courses were served appropriately from a timing perspective and were the proper temperature. All 5 of us loved our apps (loved the Barrata), enjoyed every bite of our entrees and the desserts were fabulous (creme brulee cheesecake and cannolis). The wine list was appropriate for the menu and the decor comfortable and well thought out. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive, but didn't hover over us needlessly. Even though the owner was busy overseeing the house, she still took the time to stop by and have a nice chat. The chef and the manager are husband and wife, and their 20s son is one of the wait staff. All were extremely personal, helpful, and knowledgable. We had was a good beet salad, not the best I've ever had, but solid. Our two mains were gnocchi with bolognese sauce. The gnocchi were not super light, which some prefer, but rather of medium consistency which I like. It was a large portion and bolognese sauce was traditional and fine. We also had a short ribs over polenta with spinach. Quite good.... just like my mother never made. Nice wine list at fair prices. Food was beautifully presented, creative, and perfectly seasoned. It was my wife's birthday, so they gave us a private table in the front window so that we could watch the passers-by as we ate. Excellent wine list selection and prices. They seated our party of 6 in the private Wine Room since no one had booked it that evening. Carpaccios, seasonal salads, and burrata were very well prepared. Main courses of rack of lamb, veal liver, seasonal ravioli, chicken, gnocchi, and loin of lamb were all fantastic. And my wife ordered affogato for dessert - magnificent ending to the meal. The staff is incredibly friendly, the food perfectly prepared, and they don't rush you (unlike some wine country restaurants). My wife had the Caesar salad and a pasta with mixed seafood. Loved them both. The tiramisu was also very good. We had an 8:30 reservation but after flying cross country tried to be seated at 7:30 and were easily accommodated. Our waitress was also most helpful with area attractions. On Saturday night we assumed we could just walk up and be seated. Turns put it is restaurant week and there were no tables available. The owner bent over backwards to accommodate us and kept apologizing for keeping us waiting. We were seated in 15 minutes and enjoyed our meals immensely. We went for a special occasion, the staff was friendly and professional and multiple employees told us congrats. They placed us at a special romantic table tucked into the corner. The wine was amazing (expensive too, but that was anticipated and better prices than most places in the area. The food was quite delicious. My husband had the lamb special (came on the t-bone), he's telling everyone how great it was. I had the fillet of sole, it was also amazing. Everything was fresh, cooked well, and delicious.
