  • "I usually visit this restaurant once a year when I'm in town for business. Within walking distance from the Hyatt. They are on the pricey side for what you get. Visited during restaurant week and really only got a discounted dessert as part of the deal. Service is friendly and portions are small. Nice ambience. Seem to be busy whenever I am visiting."

  • "Bacchus is a great gem in downtown Buffalo. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. Their wine list is extensive, but they also have beer and mixed drinks too. Definitely a place to be wined and dined. They have valet parking and you can leave your car there if you're headed to Shea's for a show. Give Bacchus a try, you won't be disappointed."

  • "We usually eat at Bacchus before a play at Sheas. The service the past two times has been mediocre at best. The last time we had to rush out after inhaling our meal because the serice was just ok, (we had reservations for 6). Just this Saturday, the service again was slow, we did not receive any bread until after our salads. Also, two people ordered the special Rib Eye and it was very fatty. We really enjoy Bacchus and have been going there for years, and will most likely give it one more try."

  • "Just a couple blocks from Shea's, Bacchus is a great option for dinner before a show! We had the front corner table that overlooked Chippewa Street. The atmosphere is edgy and hip, but suitable for any age! The food was fantastic...worth every dime! I had the small plate of Pan seared scallops, I took one bite, and said to my husband."It tastes like Fall!" Carmelized onions topped the scallops and served on a bed of pureed potatoes. I also had the BLT salad-tasty applewood bacon!My husband had the Rib-eye, and it LITERALLY just melted in your mouth. He also had the cream of asparagus soup-delicious! For deserts we had the Toffee Sticky Cake-which was a little dry I might say, and he had the Creme Brulee-awesome!The service was impeccable!"

  • "We like to come to Bacchus before the theater and have always had a positive experience, but this past Saturday was disappointing. It was very busy, but that has never been an issue before. It took quite a while for our server to come over and take our drink order. We didn't get bread until half way through our appitizer and our main courses were very over done. I ordered duck and my husband ordered a fillet, medium rare. Both arrived well done. It seemed like maybe they had been sitting under the heat light. Both tasted good, so since we had thetaer tickets, we didn't send them back, but would have another time. On a positive note, our server was very friendly and helpful, in general. We'll be back and hope it will be better next time."

  • "A friend and I headed to Bachus for Friday dinner after a grueling week. The valet promptly took my car. We were quickly seated for our reservation. Our server promptly opened a bottle of wine and told about the specials. We ended up sharing the Halibut and mussels special and the Gorgonzola crusted ribeye. OMG, absolutely delicious. We will return just for the Halibut!!! Kudos to Bachus and the staff."

  • "Our dinning experience was unforgettable. Guided through the menu by a young waiter, but whose age did not reflect his experience. His advice proved correct from selecting beautiful cocktails to start and then three of the best small plates we have ever had including a wondeful Tuna Tartar, the Beef Carpacio "Steak and Eggs" and a beautiful Orange and Beet Salad with Arugula and Goat Cheese. This was followed by two beautiful Entres which of course included a classic Filet Mingnon for my wife with Mushroom and Pancetta Demi-Glaze served with Gnocchi, a classic but prepared perfectly, and my Salmon served in a Honey Beurre Blanc sauce over sweet potato hash with a choizo vinaigrette. One of the best Salmon dishes I have had in my life!"

  • "We ate at Bacchus on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was busy, a very good sign midweek. We had a wide variety of 'small' plates, though they were small only in title, they were actually appetizer portions. The food was very well presented and prepared, we thoroughly enjoyed each of the 7 or 8 dishes we tried. Generous portions, generous drink pours, a fantastic wine list, reasonable prices, and terrific service all make for a really enjoyable night out. We will return."

  • "The food was great - although I think their menu could have been bigger. My only complaint that I did not expect the prices to be so high. My girlfriends and I went for dinner after work and spent MUCH more than anticipated even though we all got small plates. Another thing that was disappointing was that there were no happy hour specials (our glasses of wine were $8+) Given the corporate nature of the location I would expect them to do something to promote business professionals to stop for a glass of wine after work. This restaurant has a very romantic atmosphere so for a special occasion with a significant other it would be perfect."

  • "We are regulars at Bacchus. The ambiance is sophisticated, but not at all stuffy. The pecan-crusted salmon -- a mainstay of the menu -- is always fantastic and highly recommended. My husband, who usually orders steak, tried the halibut special last Saturday and said it was one of the best seafood dishes he's ever had. He still misses the "Bistro Steak," however, that was removed from the menu some time ago. It would be great if Bacchus brought that item back to its menu. Try their Wednesday night movie nights on the patio in the summer!"

  • "We're not Buffalo locals, but we knew we would be in town the night before an early morning flight. So we looked at reviews for an interesting restaurant to celebrate Valentine's Day in early January and made a reservation. Baccus did not dissapoint. Free valet parking was nice. We arrived at the time of our reservation and were seated immediately. Food, service, ambiance were all great. Only criticism would be that the Pri Fix menu was a little pricey since the items were on the normal menu - and when combined would have been about $15 per person less costly. Guess that's the penalty for going out on Valentine's Day!"

  • "I've been to Bacchus several times and have never been dissatisfied. The menu offers a variety of options, all of which are incredibly appealing. The menu itself isn't so extensive that it's overwheling though. I've ordered duck at various restaurants in Buffalo and Bacchus is the only restaurant where I've found the dish to be consistant. The service is always excellent as the servers are knowledgeable and professional as well as personable and friendly. I highly recommend Bacchus to anybody who enjoys amazing food and a superb atmostphere."

  • "We love going to Bacchus regularly. We actually went there last year for Valentine's Day and it was great. This year, the service was poor. We waited 25 minutes just to get asked what we want for our first round of drinks, we had to flag down a waiter for bread, and we were there for over 2.5 hours. I love Bacchus regularly, but I wouldn't recommend it on Valentines day in the future."

  • "The service and the ambiance need to be improved. The restaurant was crowded when my husband and I arrived. Lights were shining too bright on our table. Our server took about 10 mins to get to our table and even longer to bring our drinks. Food was very, very good! For after dinner drinks we ordered bourbon, Bulleit (the list needs to improve), and the pour WOW! I am now wishing I had taken a photo of the pour. Suffice it to say that I have never been served (anywhere) a pour so small. I take my time to enjoy my bourbon and I finished mine in 4 sips! No joke. Because of this I won't be visiting again. After dinner drinks is an important part of my dining experience. The pour was unacceptable. We visited on Sat., Feb. 8th at 815pm."

It is beautiful and romantic in there, however, with the bar area being in the open, do not expect it to be quiet. It was very lively, and loud at times. This would not deter me from revisiting, however."
