Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge - Wedgewood HotelVery Good but not cheapBacchus is a high end restaurant and bar with great food and impeccable service, Lunch entrées were mid-sized. I had the Cobb Salad which was rather more iceberg lettuce and less "fixin's" than I have previously experienced. . My friend had a panini which came with a few lettuce leaves but was pronounced delicious. We had a total of 3 glasses of inexpensive wine and we both had desserts. We had a large bottle of San Pellegrino and a couple of coffees (very good coffee) which came accompanied by a chocolate-pecan candy atop a mini-biscotti.
The room is clubby and warm with lots of wood and soft furniture. The is a grand piano which is used during the evening
Our bill (inc. $20 tip) was $132. I had high expectations. I was not disappointed.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMnice food but too many sweetsThere weren't enough sandwiches and there were too many sweets.
Non one can eat a scone, 2 tarts, a piece of cake and a piece of pound cake ( by the way, most people don't like pound cake anyways). Meanwhile, there was the equivalent of maybe 1 regular-sized sandwich per person.
So, don't go in hungry--you will be disappointed and end up eating all the sweet stuff just to fill up.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMHaving never been to thisHaving never been to this place before, didn't really know what to expect. Was at another local hotel in the area and wanted a nice romantic place to bring my girlfriend out for dinner. Quick search online and this place was high on the recommended list and within walking distance of our hotel. Upon entering we were greeted right away by the staff and lead to our table in the dinning room. All of the staff were very professional and aided in making it a memorial night for the two of us. The food was outstanding and presentation of it all was fantastically done. Prices were a little higher than was expected and the volume of the piano within the lounge was loud for the dinning room but overall a memorial experience.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommendedThe food, service, & ambiance were exceptional. Fit for foodies, business clients, special occasions, or a romantic dinner. Compared to other high-end restaurants of this calibre, I found the prices to be quite reasonable, the menu choices nicely varied, and portion sizes more than ample. Valet parking is also available at a reasonable cost and can be added to the bill if desired. As for the noise level, there was live piano music which could be enjoyed up close if dining in the lounge, or as background music if dining in the back part of the restaurant where we were. It was a nice touch without being overbearing. This was my first dining experience at The Bacchus Restaurant, but will certainly not be my last. I was very impressed.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat atmosphereI had an enjoyable experience at the Bacchus restaurant. The food was amazing, well timed, and well presented. On top of that there was a pianist serenading the restaurant the entire time with nice ambient tunes. Service was great as well, I felt like I was royalty!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Bacchus VisitI was amazed at the decor when I walk in. I've never been in a White-oriented place as I mostly go to places in Richmond. The staff was very attentative and brought us in to a table by the fireplace. I went for brunch as part of the Tourism Passport holder deal but the level of service was phenomenal. The egg was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were smooth and creamy. I love the scones and muffins too and you could taste they were made fresh. Once I enter the washroom I felt like going back in time, all the vanities are liked what you would see on Titanic a very unique experience. All in all the food was cooked perfectly but the flavors did not wow me. I would definitely come back for a romantic dinner some day.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost perfectFood and service very good. Gift certificate policy leaves much to be desired.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply OutstandingMy experience at Bacchus was wonderful. What I ate was beyond delicious (a similar rating comes from those who accompanied me) and the service was exceptional. The décor and ambience of the restaurant is beautiful truly a gem in Downtown Vancouver. I will most definitely return!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDecent food but service needs work!Food was decent but definitely overpriced. We went for Mother's day brunch ($59/person) and no refreshments were included in the price and the waiter acted like we didn't belong there (not sure if it was a status thing?). We also felt like we were being rushed to leave after our meal.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers Day TeaHad the afternoon tea for Mothers Day and our mom was super pleased...the tea was great, food wonderful and the setting perfect.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA lillr noisy with the businessA lillr noisy with the business crowd, but a nice setting with excellent service. Value for the money...except for the salad.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
