Diner Reviews
  • "I've dined at Bacchanalia for 15 years and its better than ever. Flawless execution and pristine ingredients are a hallmark, many items are from the owners' farm Summerland. Standouts were Tuna Crudo, Loup de Mer, Lamb, and the "Fried Dough" dessert which was a clever take on breakfast. Bacchanalia is starting to feel a little staid and I'd like to see more playfulness in the menu - like the fried dough dessert. It is expensive but commensurate with the quality of food and service. Re portion size, they are perfectly appropriate for a lengthy 5 course meal with amuse courses, bread and wine pairings. If sheer quantity is your primary concern then you will probably not enjoy this type of dining. Have a great steak dinner at Bones instead."

  • "Great food; great service. Second time we've been in here 2 years, and great both times. Will be returning."

  • "Wow, one the best restaurants I've been to in many years, if not ever. The service is fantastic and attentive. The food portions are perfect and the taste couldn't have been better. I highly recommend dining here. It might be expensive, but you will not mind when the bill comes."

  • "We had a delightful evening from start to finish. The menu is quite inventive and highlights local food. In addition to the five-course menu, several additional treats are included throughout the evening (e.g., a peach smoothie before the third course, additional sweets after the fifth course). Since I had let them know it was my birthday when I made the reservation, we were also served a special dessert...a cupcake tower with Happy Birthday inscribed on the plate in chocolate! The wine list is extensive and included several half-bottles, which was a delight...we ordered a half bottle of white to accompany early courses, and a half bottle of red for the later courses."

  • "We'd been wanting to come to Bacchanalia for some time, but hadn't made it due to the need to make reservations far in advance. This we did, for my wife's birthday, and it was worth the wait. Every one of the five courses was top notch, some of the best we've ever had. The service was very good as well. The wine we chose, a Chateauneuf Du Pape, was excellent (my wife is a white wine drinker, but enjoys a good CDP, and we both loved this one, from E. Guigal 2007). We'll be back (to borrow a phrase)."

  • "We often eat at Bacchanalia for special occasions, and they never fail to impress! The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The servings, while small, once you eat all of the courses and the hot bread, is quite filling. I love to try new things that I have never tried at Bacchanalia, since you know that it will be perfectly and optimally prepared. Service on the courses was well paced and the wait staff very attentive, prompt, and accommodating. Highly recommend!"

  • "Fantastic experience, the level of detail over the food and service were outstanding. Every person we interacted with was not only very pleasant but very knowledgable about all aspects of their menu. It's not cheap but it did not seem outrageous for the quality of the experience."

  • "Great food. Excellent service. Pricey but worth it. Next time I will try their wine pairings instead of buying a bottle of wine."

  • "Very small portions. When they mention served ithe eggplant or whatever, you will get a squirt of something purple beside a bite of lamb! Nice presentation but misleading."

  • "With a five course tasting menu with 5-6 selections in each course, there is something for everyone. All of the food is prepared to perfection. Service is perfect. Friendly and pacing is just right. Servers are all knowledgeable and work as a team. Wine pairings complement each of the first three courses and sre specific to the dish chosen. It is also nice that they offer a half or full glass on each pairing. And the wine pairings are al a carte. Good wine list and excellent craft cocktails with artisanal touches. We have probably been 10 times over the last few years on visits to Atlanta and the experience is always excellent. We have eaten at many of the highly rated restaurants in the world and Bacchanalia is one of the best."

  • "First time here.. and was apprehensive about spending so much on a dinner.. I am more the foodie than the hubby, and he loved it as much as I did... so.... The duck was great... the service was impeccable..... can we come often, no... but will we come again... most certainly. An experience... and lovely anniversary dinner..."

  • "Having been to Bacchanalia several times (even when they were at the old house on Piedmont), I love how they evolve and the quality never waivers. Our dining experience was amazing! The courses had a lot of variety and insane flavor combinations. The friendly & knowledgeable service staff made the night flow at a leisurely pace. All in all, it was a great way to cap off a fantastic stay-cation."

  • "Our bucket list includes dining at every AAA Five Diamond restaurant in the world. There are no AAA 5D restaurants in Georgia but Bacchanalia should really be considered for this designation as Georgia's first. Our experience rivaled the service, food quality, innovative approach, and setting that we've experienced at other AAA 5Ds. The Bacchanalia sign outside the restaurant is HUGE but we were a little confused when we first walked in - there's a store in the front and you walk through it to get to the restaurant - we had to be directed. From there, though, our experience was awesome! Excellent wines, delicious food, great service! Highly recommended. I wish there was more room here to give all the details!"

  • "Had dinner on Tuesday. Due to that I guess we did not have quite excellent evening like every dinner we have had there. Usually we go there on Saturdays and everything has been excellent. A main waitress did not come to our table a while to hand menus and had to wait a while again to make orders. When stakes with different cooking requests were delivered, they were handed to wrong persons. These things have never been experienced at this restraint before. But every food was very good and services by other waiters were also excellent as usual. Hope this was an exception."

  • "The service was outstanding, the food delicious, the wine paring was just wonderful, the night was just spectacular. My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary and we are making it a tradition now to celebrate there."

  • "We went here for the first time for our anniversary. We heard great things about the restaurant so had a lot of expectations from ther restaurant regarding food and the service. Happy to report that we were not disappointed. The service was excellent, food was amazing and the place was very chic. We each had 11 meals total between the courses and desserts. We had an incredible time and will definitely be going back. I have already recommended the place to my friends. It was easily the best meal we had in Atlanta."

  • "While this restaurant is consistently rated No. 1 in Atlanta, please be aware that it's a prix fixe menu with five courses. The portions are very small, so don't be afraid you'll overeat. With a decent bottle of wine plus tip, the cost is going to be $150-200/person. A restaurant fit only for the 1% OR corporate clients? Why would any fine chef limit his/her art to such a chosen few? This is not Paris!"

  • "NOW I understand why Bacchanalia is consistently rated #1 in Atlanta! We had a lovely dinner experience to celebrate our anniversary. Every detail was perfect!"

  • "We celebrated our anniversary and everything was spectacular. The food and service were both excellent. Even though each course was smaller than a typical chain restaurant, they were perfect for the overall experience. When you have 5 set courses with an additional 4 or 5 from chef specials, there is no way you leave hungry."

  • "By far Bacchanalia is one of the best restaurants in Atlanta. Everything was perfect. Each course was delicious and beautiful and we loved the wine pairing for each course. They made sure my food was Gluten Free. The service was wonderful without being overdone. Be sure to dine here and experience food at its finest."

  • "All the reviews say this place is amazing and for some reason we have just never made it over to try it out. So for our 11th anniversary we decided it was time! We were not disappointed at all!! We did the chef's tasting with the wine pairing and it was amazing. Loved everything that we tried. It was a lot of food as well and we were beyond full when we left but it was completely worth it!! Can't believe we have never been until now. Will definitely be back soon."

  • "We would give the restaurant four out of five for ambience, stars for food quality, 1 star for very small portions. Overall, it is very overpriced for what you get. We would not return. Don't know why anyone would return unless they were spending someone else's money."

  • "This a restaurant that will be talked about for while amongst the best places to dine in Atlanta. For my first time I was impressed with the quality, thought, and execution that has obviously gone into each dish/pairing. The service staff was abundant and knowledgable. This a great place for a special occasion. the ambiance in the restaurant is bit conflicting with the product. Everything appears a bit more casual dining than what is provided. If anything the restaurant is everything you expect in fine dining without any pretense or contrived façade. I greatly enjoyed the meal here as 5 courses were all delightful and there didn't appear to be any selection to err. The wine pairings were thoughtful and transformative."

  • "My wife and I came here to celebrate our son's graduation but we left all the kids at home ;) We had wonderful service, the NY Strip was incredible, the pork belly was delicious and the other courses were great as well. We brought a bottle of Caymus Cab so we didn't even look at the wine list. Bacchanalia has emerged as my new favorite Atlanta restaurant - it's just a great experience. We highly recommend and will be coming back again soon."

  • "If you're a foodie, then Bacchanalia is a must. Was in ATL on business and went there with a client, we were both extremely pleased. The menu is inventive, service fantastic and atmosphere great. The Star Provisions cooking tools shop in front of the restaurant was another treat. "

  • "This was our second dining experience at Bacchanalia and it confirmed itself as our favorite Atlanta area restaurant. The food preparation is superbly delicious and the menu was different from our first visit. My favorite courses were the oyster/sea urchin and the halibut/fennel, but the dessert of fennel, carrot, celery, beet sorbets an was exciting dairy free choice for me. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend this restaurant for those who appreciate nice food and for very special occasions."

  • "We took our daughter and son in law here for their 9th anniversary. The food was impeccable as well as the service. A beautiful dining room. My only complaint was my coffee was rather weak, especially for a French press. And I wished I had chosen a different dessert as the fried dough was really nothing special. But our overall experience was wonderful. We will go back. "
